Any Authors Interested?

Hi all!

I currently have a natural healing and counseling site that does pretty well, but I'm revamping it to focus on sexual health for women. Aside from the services I currently offer, I was going to post free short romance and erotic stories for people who drop by the site.

If anyone is interested in submitting a romance or erotic short story 500 - 2,000 words or so, any sub-genre, just let me know. I'll be doing a lot of promo for the site, and we could all use free publicity! I'd also post the link to your author site and a short bio if you'd like.

The same rules that go for traditional publishers go for this site.  No rape, under age sex, etc.  It can't be under contract with a publisher.  You keep all rights!  I'm just showcasing your work.

Message me here on myspace or at kelly_m_wallace@yahoo.com if you're interested. I look forward to hearing from you!

Repost--Reviewers Still Needed!

Love Bites Romance Reviews has had such a wonderful response from authors and publishers that there are MANY books waiting to be reviewed and not enough reviewers!

If you're interested in reviewing for us, simply send us an email and let us know!

Our reviewers come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, but all have a love of romance novels. If you are interested in joining the staff of Love Bites, email us a lovebitesromancereviews@yahoo.com

Although our reviewers are all non-paid volunteers, (some sites are even charging reviewers now!), they do receive free e-books, galleys and books for review, as well as joining a group of others with the same addiction to romances. :)

Reviewers may also review a book they have purchased. This is a labor of love by all involved, but our contributors have jobs and families, so the work is done in our free time.

Some benefits of reviewing for Love Bites?  Reviwers who are writers get free banner placement, free book cover e-card placement,  a spot on our Authors Den page, and all reviewers get exposure on our "Our Reviewers" page and can post blogs relevant to the reading, writing, or publishing field.

Even if you feel you can only review one book a month, that's no problem.  We could still use the help!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Review for Weathering the Storm by Kelley Vitollo

Title: Weathering the Storm

Author: Kelley Vitollo

Publisher:  Forbidden Publications

Genre: Contemporary/Romance

Heat Index: Erotic/Carnal

Book Length:  28 pages

Cover Artist: DJ Alling

Editor: Rene Walden-Wilson

She's tough, stubborn, and hard to get along with.

He's a cocky, flirtatious, ladies man.

Together they're combustible in more ways than one.

Tomboy carpenter Stephanie Bridges hates going to the hardware store. Scratch that, she loves the store, but despised the owner, her ex-boyfriend, Lucas Carr. The man angers her to no end, yet her hormones don't get it. She still wants him. Badly.

Lucas Carr may be a flirt, but there is only one woman who holds his heart, Stephanie. Too bad she's too stubborn to really hear what he so often tries to say.

Today, Stephanie's hormones aren't the only thing that's raging. There is a monster storm coming into town. The storm forces Luc and Stephanie to take shelter in his hardware store. Being trapped in the store, they have plenty of time to enjoy each others company. That is if they can stop fighting long enough.

Review:

I read Weathering the Storm with both tears in my eyes and a smile as Stephanie and Luc weather far more than the intense storm outside.  Their feelings--both hidden and well-known to one another--create a tale that's well-rounded and touches the reader deep inside.  The sex scenes were not paraded around solely for our voyeuristic pleasure.  Instead, we are given the gift of a very private and erotic view of Luc and Stephanie's love for one another that they refuse to speak out loud.  Weathering the Storm has a satisfying ending that will have you reaching for a tissue or two--I did!  Kelley did a wonderful job of creating a heady, sensual atmosphere for these two heart-sick lovers in, of all places, a hardward store.  Whoever thought that lumber and patio furniture could be so arousing?

When Bridget first arrives, she meets dark, broody, Sean Sutherland and their attraction is immediate. Sean, too, has a secret- he is cursed by a vampire sorceress to be a vampire until his true love saves him via a prophesy. Sean is a reluctant vampire and has fought off the evil nature of his vampire self for over three hundred years. As the lord of the village and surrounding lands, Sean has been his peoples' protector. Unfortunately, evil forces are planning on converging on Sean's land, which magnifies magic. Will Sean and Bridget be able to stop the evil hordes and will a vampire and a vampire hunter be able to find love?

Review:

Ms. Mathews gently guides her readers through a delightful experience filled with just the right amount of romance, intrigue, and action.  I opened the door to a new genre and I'm glad I did.  This tale is worth a look.  The entertaining characters drew me in completely and I could not wait to see where the next chapter would take me.  Evil was present.  Yet, those battles were not the focus.  If you are in the mood for romance without gratuitous sex or violence, then you are sure to appreciate Twilight's Kiss.  Enjoy the journey!

Writing Tips: Tips 1-10

This is my first installment of the most helpful writing tips I've gathered throughout the years. You've probably read many of these before, but they're well worth repeating. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but these are handy to keep in mind while working on your current project.

Please check back for future installments.

Feel free to pass these around!

*Writers, if you have some favorite writing tips, feel free to send them in.  I'll post them, along with your name and website link!*

1. Write your story straight through without editing as you go along. Leave your story alone for a couple of weeks, then go back and edit. This does wonders in helping to spot errors, breaks in rhythm, and other problems. This cooling off period is essential.

2. Use specific images so readers can actually see, hear, feel, taste and smell what's going on. Okay: "It smelled bad." Better: "It smelled like sour milk." Okay: "He was old." Better: "His face was lean and shriveled, like an apple too long in the barrel."

3. Avoid using many clichés. (Hard as a rock, thin as a rail, sick at heart, etc.) Make your writing your own.

4. Avoid heavy sprinkling of these overused words: Just, even, like, also, although, besides, almost, maybe, and, if, but, too, unless, sort of, that.

5. Try not to use: Appears, seems, as though, seemed like, seemed as though. These make your story weak and unreal.

6. Stay away from "suddenly" and similar words. "Suddenly there was a gunshot!" This only expresses a thought. Try to impress, not express.

7. Try eliminating these "to be" verbs: is, am, was, were, are, will, be. Add commas as needed and/or turn sentence around to make it stronger.

8. Be simple and clear. Avoid long sentences, long words, long speeches. Readers tend to skip over these.

9. Grab your reader with the very first paragraph of your story. Better yet, capture their attention in the first sentence. It's said that you have just three seconds to hook the reader, so make every word count.

10. Don't let your characters sit and think too much. Show thoughts through action, such as a smile, a frown, a sigh, throwing a glass at a mirror, etc. The more you have your characters interact, the more you keep your reader interested.

Review for The Earl's Enchantment by Sara Freeze

Author's name: Sara Freeze
Title: The Earl's Enchantment
Sweet Romance
29 pages
Reviewed by:  Kelly

Blurb:
Now, what's a sweet American girl like Caitlin doing in England, working in a castle/bookstore and communicating with a grumpy ghost? When the story opens, Adrian's still figuring that out himself. In 1806, he very unwillingly found himself transformed into a ghost by an angry ex-lover who also happened to be a very powerful witch. He's been trapped in Holworth Castle for the past two centuries, observing with horror the evolving fashions, hair styles, and conduct of the modern man (and woman).

Then Caitlin walks into the bookshop, and Adrian's world changes. Caitlin, too, feels an intense connection, and she and Adrian are willing to risk anything to bring their worlds together. By the end of this journey, Caitlin and Adrian will have traveled through time, battled a dark and dangerous force, and found themselves well and truly enchanted by each other.

Review:
Sara Freeze has taken a traditional phantom-love story and added some interesting twists that all make sense in the end.  The Earl's Enchantment was a short, fun story that kept me intrigued straight through.  Adrian is slightly arrogant and very hunky...even if he is only in spirit form.  His personal views of modern day life brought a smile to my face and made me long for old-fashioned chivalry.  Caitlin's mind and soul live in the past as she enjoys reading Regency romances and has always felt a pull to England, even though she was born in the U.S.  She seems as out of place in today's world as Adrian himself.  Although the subject wasn't touched upon, I truly felt that Caitlin and Adrian were soul mates who were born a few centuries apart.  But that doesn't stop them in the least!  Time travel, a nasty curse, and an even nastier witch are no match for true love!

Interview with Raine Delight

**Join Raine on the Love Bites yahoo group May 1st 7-9 pm EST and chat live with her!**

LBRR: Hello Raine and thank you for joining us today!

Raine: Thanks for having me Love Bites. J I am looking forward to chatting with you!

LBRR: Please tell us about yourself.
Raine: I am a single mother of 2 kids ages 5 and 7. I write romance erotica in the genres of fantasy, contemporary under my pseudonym as I also review and work at a review place as well. I am a self-confessed bookaholic and have over 300 books in my collection with more coming every week it seems. LOL I am currently working on a series for Mardi Gras Publishing called Devon Falls Magic Series. It will have 5 books out this year alone with possibly more to come in the future.

LBRR: What is the most memorable and most forgettable moment you've encountered on the writing path?

Raine: oh man..this is a good question. J Memorable would be getting my first review from an author and finding out they loved the book and are telling everyone about it! *grins* Most Forgettable would be my 1st book that I wrote which was in 1st person and frankly I am totally reworking it when I have the chance and reworking the whole angle. It was that bad. *groans*

LBRR: What other jobs did you have before becoming a writer?

Raine: I currently work part time as a Prep Cook/Head Baker for a small Coffee Shoppe. I love working the mornings and then I work in the afternoons and after the kids are in bed on things.

LBRR: Do you have a favorite quote?

Raine: Not really. I enjoy many quotes and there isn't just one that hits me hard! J

LBRR: What was your first published story?

Raine: Sticky Magic was my 1st, followed by Red Hot Magic, and Charmed Magic. Due to a publisher change, Sticky Magic is now out of the public eye until Dec. 2007. J

LBRR: Which of your story heroes do you love best and why?

Raine: I love all my heroes. But my hero in Fiery Magic coming June 23rd from MGP, is a man determined to right a wrong he committed to the one woman he has loved for so long. Damien has loved Alicia since the 5th grade but when he was forced to break her heart and preserve the family secret, he broke not just her heart but his as well. Now he is back to run the Dragon Inn and set things right with Alicia because he is determined they belong together and he is still in love with her after all these years. Damien is strong, gentle and determined as well as sexy as sin! J

Now his brother on the other hand, Rodrick, is one man who loves the ladies and they love him...Well until he opens his mouth and ends up inserting foot. *grins* He is a riot as he finally gets his comeuppance and finds himself on the receiving end of the frustration he invokes within others and ends up learning that sometimes life delivers paths that he needs to watch for!

LBRR: Do you have a writing routine that you follow?

Raine: Nope...I write by the seat of my pants. J I also find that certain music gives me inspiration as it shows in Red Hot Magic with Andrea Bouchelli and Charmed Magic with Josh Groban's Classical CD mentioned.

LBRR: What do you do when you aren't writing?

Raine: I watch movies; spend time with my kids, family and my boyfriend. I am learning to roller blade so that is an interesting feat when it is nice. J I also read voicariously and basically veg at home. I am a major homebody and love to take walks with the kids and my honey when it is nice here in Western NY.

LBRR: What are you working on now?

Raine: I am currently finishing up Fiery Magic and then I am working on Haunting Magic, Rodrick's story coming at MGP in October 2007. J Then I am finishing a Fae 2 book series for another publisher and hopefully that will be out in 2008 in e format and print.

FIERY MAGIC Coming June 23rd from MGP:

What is a girl to do when the love of her life who broke her heart so long ago comes back to town? That is the question Alicia Sanders, Owner of the Dew Drop Cafe has when Damien Dracon comes back to Devon Falls and runs the Dragon Inn with his twin, Rodrick. With the 4th of July Founders day celebration in full swing, Alicia will find herself drawn to this magical man all over again...even though she knows he is bad news and will break her heart with a casual toss of his tousled head.

Damien Dracon is one of the heirs of the Dragon Inn. He broke the one woman's heart when he was forced to keep a family secret that would have devestated her and regretted it ever since. Going away for a few years, he comes back and is determined to put the past behind him and make Alicia believe in second chances again.

Can these two strong willed people let fate work its magic on them or will Damien's secret destroy the one woman he has pinned for all his life? This 4th of July is about to get HOT!

HAUNTING MAGIC Coming from MGP October 2007

Meet the Dracon Twins, Damien and Rodrick. Both are sexy, arrogant and pure alpha male but both harbor a secret, one that destroyed Damien's love with Alicia Sanders, Jenna's Sister. Will he be able to mend two hearts and convince the only woman he has loved that they belong together?

Rodrick is a foot loose fancy free man who never felt his heart catch and hold onto someone until this Halloween, with a little help from Aunt Tabby,. He is about to get his just deserts! Check out the next two Magic Books, Fiery Magic and Haunting Magic coming this year!

LBRR: How may readers contact you?

Raine: I can be reached either at My Space page, www.myspace.com/raine_delight or by email, rainedelight@yahoo.com I enjoy hearing from readers!

Review for Inside the Fire by Even Savage!

NAME: Eve Savage
TITLE: Inside The Fire
PUB DATE: March 2007
GENRE: Erotica
LENGTH: Novella
FORMAT: Electronic.

Inside the Fire Wildland Firefighter Brant Crichton likes to be alone. Still racked with guilt after losing men in the desert, he stands a lonely sentinel position. Erotic photographer Deryn Adams has sworn off men of action. Arriving in Payette National Forest to scout her next layout, she's looking forward to some quiet time. Never expecting to find a naked man in her cabin, she indulges her wild streak and sleeps with him without even knowing his name.
Ever the protector, Brant insists on helping Deryn with her work and moves right into her quiet weekend. The more they learn about each other, the hotter the attraction. Can two lonely souls find the love they crave inside the fire without getting burned?

Review:

Honestly, I don't think I breathed the entire time I read this short story!  At only 33 pages, Eve created steamy sex scenes, delved into deep emotions, and sprinkled in spunk like no other story I've read of this length.  The characters were "real" and their sexual interludes described in ways that had my heart beating double-time.  Instead of rushing through the sex, Eve gives us close-up views and details most writers gloss over.  I also enjoyed the fact that Deryn is a BBW and Brant just happens to be a sexy hunk who craves curves!  The ending climax (pardon the pun!) is a real wake-up call for Deryn that has her rethinking her vow of avoiding this man of action!  Inside the Fire ended all too soon and left me wondering what would happen next, which is a sure sign of a well-written story.  Great job, Eve!

One woman's demise and a long ago legend is were this story begins…

Apolla is getting married to her prince charming today. Little does she know that things will not quite go as she and her husband-to-be, Prince Kyanite had planned. Their honeymoon is put on hold when a vital meeting is called with all the sea Guardians, a race of shape-shifting men that guard their underwater world of Animanee, with their unique abilities to communicate with the sea creatures that live in the ocean.

Along with all of this, Max, a shark-shifter and Ariella, Kyanite's sister, will have enough sexual tension between them to create an underwater volcano before it is through.

Review:

Ms. Sinclair has written a remarkable tale of despair, hope, love and lust. This is one hot story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The underwater story came to life as her words unfurled an original, imaginative world.

The main and secondary characters sizzled and left you panting for more. She has created a well-developed world and I am sure Ms. Sinclair will deliver more erotic tales from this world to delight her fans.

This is one story you don't want to miss.

Review for Love Immortal by Kelly Wallace.

My vamp novel was reviewed by Just Erotic Romance!

Title: Love Immortal
Author: Kelly Wallace
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books
Publisher URL:
lsbooks.com
ISBN: 1-59578-330- X
Reviewer: Stacey Landers
Rating: 4 Stars
Heat level: H

Theron Ambrose has been a vampire for centuries, and has chosen to live his life alone, for if he ever falls in love and has sex with a woman, he will lose his immortality forever. This has never been a problem, since he has made for himself a solitary life and never feeds from the same woman more than twice. He chooses women that are broken-hearted and beaten down, takes their blood and leaves them happier then when he found them. Not a bad life for a vampire, until he accidentally backs into Leah Nolan. She becomes the one woman that could change everything he created for himself all these years-the one woman that he is now responsible for healing.

Reading Love Immortal was a fantastic, sensual roller coaster of a story! Kelly Wallace has taken her view of the vampire and put a couple of twists into it that made the chemistry between Leah and Theron even more intense. Theron is, of course, a sexy, muscular, brooding vamp that has his world rocked when the beautiful Leah becomes injured and needs his care to recuperate. Leah is a young, vibrant, if sullen woman with striking eyes and amber hair that has this soldier standing at attention on more than one occasion. Leah has secrets of her own that Theron uncovers and the fact that he becomes almost human when around her had me falling for him too. Of course, he had to become an ass when his feelings became too intense, but there is a reason and he battles himself on more than one occasion regarding Leah. Even though he did not want to make love, he could use that wonderful mouth to pleasure Leah and use it he does. Leah and I both were spent when he was finished! Seductive, pleasurable, well written and fast moving, Love Immortal is a wonderful read, with an unexpected finish.
