01:56 - Yo-yo's and ripples

This year is truly going to be the year of afghans for me. With 4 in progress right now, and at least 5 more planned,  I have plenty to keep me busy. It amazes me how quickly these work up when I actually just sit down and do them! Some updates here. Here is a pic of the baby blanket I am making for her little girl who is set to arrive in mid June! Can't wait to see pics of the little cherub!

This one is getting closer and closer to being done, although it's looking like I might have to buy a little more white to get it done. It's Caron Simply Soft in black and white. Real good for babies eyes, and I think it's turning out beautifully. I'm kind of on a non-pastel baby kick, hopefully Tiffany will like it as well. I did have the colors approved before beginning.

Here is the yo-yo ghan I am making for my neice. It is 62" long, and will be around 48" wide. I hope she likes it.

Ok, pattern links. The round ripple link I can't find right now, I printed off the pattern a long time ago. But the yo-yo can be found here

Today is my charity crochet day, I'll be working on Blitz items, as well as some preemie hats for BityBabyNurse. I'm wanting to go to the post office next Friday, so I need to get the hats done, so they can go out with my RAOK items and a few other things. I can't get to the post office too terribly often, so I try to get A LOT out when I do get down there.

06:26 - Boucle Surprise!!

Well, it's been a long week. All the kids have been sick, FINALLY today Kenzie woke up without a fever. Yesterday however, I was coming to the end of my sanity line. 3 kids, all sick with slightly  different things, taking medicine each at different times, and all wanting to be the ONE that gets to snuggle on you. It's enough to make you feel

We were so busy that we didn't check the mail until after 5pm, and what did I see when we got the mail?? A Package from my Aunt Mary, in Florida. It looked like this when I opened it:

6 skeins of Lion Boucle, regularly $4.99/skein, she got it at THE DOLLAR TREE!!!! And thought of me, so sent it my way! How AWESOME is that!!!

And so what did I do with this wonderful gift??? I made 2 matching hat and scarf sets, this stuff is ultra bulky, so the sets worked up in about an hr each! Here they are:

Hope you like them! I'm donating them to Freedom Village, that's the March Charity for the Charity Blitz over at Crochetville. I know I made them early, but I couldn't leave that yarn in the skeins, it was just asking to be made into something!

22:58 - Today's Progress in Crochet

Well I have been a very busy bee today. I feel like I really got a lot done, even with Kenzie being sick, the baby being cranky, Dawn acting crazy, and being considerably tired. I was able to take my drawings from my crochet journal and turn them into this apron for Dawn:

I was even able to type up the pattern, and once it is tested I will post the pattern right here on my blog!

I completed a stitch marker case for RAOK, won't post a pic though, as I want it to be anonymous.

I was also able to complete the equivalent of 1 row on my 9-patch lapghan, that I have by the way decided will be for my husbands Grandpa Pease for Christmas(possibly anniversary in April, we shall see). I say the equivalent because I made an joined 15 more squares, but I didn't do them in row form. So I actually have 1 row and 2 partial rows completed as you look at it. Here are the pics from today.

Now this blanket isn't from all one source. The original pattern that I wanted to do is in a little Leisure Arts leaflet, called Granny's Delight Afghans it is project #7. The problem is, as beautiful as I think Granny ghans are, I HATE joining squares. But then on crochetville there was a CAL started where I was directed here which is a result of yarncat's imagination, and shows a way to join the squares as you go!!! Yea!! And the pattern in the book makes a bigger ghan, and I just wanted a lapghan, so I used good ole graph paper, looked at the graph in the book, and adopted it to a smaller version. There, that's the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Take a couple ideas by other original people, and make something that is kind of your own, but not so much, because to be fair you need to give credit where credit is due!

Anyway, the lapghan is Caron Cape Code Blue, Azure, Cream, and RH Super Saver Black. It works up rather quickly, those 15 squares took just about an hr and 15 minutes. So that times 11 rows, is what 13 3/4 hrs plus maybe an hr or so to do the border... Not bad at all!! For a complete list of my WIPS and to know more about me than you ever needed to click here

Come back soon to get the apron pattern!

09:42 - Sleepless Night

Well, last night I literally didn't sleep a wink. I was up until about midnight crocheting, working on a bereavement blanket for the 2007 Charity Blitz, and was ready for bed, when my oldest dd woke up. Well, she couldn't get back to sleep, so I turned off the light, popped in a movie, then stopped working on the shell pattern blanket, and began a granny square, since it is easily done with minimal lighting. Well, 1:30 rolled around, and she was still awake, so I gave her bath, a really really warm bath. It worked she was asleep about 10 minutes after she was out.
Problem is that at that point my 3 year old woke up. She was only up for half an hour, but when she went back to sleep my 18 month old woke up. And this stinker stayed awake FOREVER. I put her back to bed around 5am. Now it was too late to go to sleep, because I would have slept all day.
Bright side is that I finished the granny-ghan. It is pink and purple, with a verigate in the center. And then a soft white shell border. It's final measurement is 21". I need to stay awake now, and was about to fall asleep crocheting, so I thought maybe the internet would do the trick.... this is doubtful, but I'm trying anyway. I'll get a pic up of the blanket as soon as I get the motivation to do so. I"m hoping to finish the shell one, then I'll post them both together.

14:15 - Winter head gear for the kiddos

So, it finally started to get cold around here, and I wanted to whip up some things for the girls. I went to Dot's Blog and found quite a few great patterns. Here are 2 that I made for my oldest girls. The first one I made was the Hooded Scarf, when my oldest woke up on her birthday and saw it, she asked me to make her something so I made her the Hascarf. I was able to complete each of them in a day. Between school, and cleaning, and playing with the kids, so they really do work up quite fast.

The Hooded Scarf was done by following the pattern almost exactly, except that I ended it early. When finished I found that the scarf part wasn't as long as I would have liked, so i added the button, and today when it snowed we found out that it is PERFECT for going under her coat. It is really warm without being bulky, and we can still zip her coat up all the way. It's wonderful, I just love it, and she looks soooo cute in it!

Here are some more pictures of recent projects. The vase for the yo-yo ghan I am making Amber is full, I'm going to have to start filling up mason jars now. I have 330 of 540 yo-yo's completed. I'm going to join them all with black.

Here is another bookmark for the CAL on the ville. this one was claimed by my hubby, I'm lucky i got a pic at all!

And here are the girls playing outside today, it FINALLY SNOWED!!! There isn't much yet, but maybe that will change soon!!!

now i need to make a list I can update on here of my WIP's and TO DO's. But I'll work on that later... maybe that's what I'll use the "who i'd like to meet" section on my profile for, lol. We'll see.

06:39 - figuring things out

well, I'm trying to see how these clickable thumbnails work. If this works here is a pic of one of the bookmarks I made for the bookmark cal on crochetville.

Woot it worked!!! how wonderful, now I can go about putting up pictures of all of my projects and things that I have been working on. Maybe a slideshow now, these are the bereavement blankets that I have made so far for the Charity Blitz 2007 also on The Ville.

this has been so much fun and am glad to now know what is going on. Can't wait to keep this up!!

Coming this weekend is the Charity Sqaure Along, just for the weekend a bunch of us are spending the weekend making as many squares for charity as we can. I'd like to do a couple 12x12 squares as bereavement blankets and 15-20 6" squares to have on hand for comfortghan square requests on the Ville. Of course I'll have pics up soon.

exciting news, I sat down the other day to make a purse for the Princess' birthday and made my own, with no pattern. Pics and pattern will be up here soon!!

14:50 - A new day, a new look

Well, I've spent a considerable amount of time setting up my page just the way I want it. Trying not to use a premade template, and I am satisied with the results. Need to figure out how to get pics into my BLOG entries, and also how to the music I want to play on my blog screen as well, and all will be good.

Struggled with the Pilates again this morning, was only able to do about 7 minutes before my abs and hips just wouldn't let me do anymore.

I haven't crocheted at all today, but will be working on more bereavement blankets later for the Charity Blitz on The Ville. It's real hard to make up these little blankets knowing what they will be used for, but I pray that they bring comfort to the families.

More when I fully figure out how to manipulate this thing.

22:54 - Working out the Kinks
Current mood: awake

Well, I decided that this is the year that I am going to stop talking and start doing. Things I can't control are how other people think or feel. But I can choose to think and feel how I want. I want to be healthy, and have more energy. So, here it is. I'm going to excercise more. Not a diet, b/c frankly I don't stick to those. But I have started doing Pilates, and where as right  now I can BARELY do the 20 minute beginners routine, I want to be regualrly completing the advanced routine by the end of the year.  I'm not weighing myself, I'm not getting caught up on a number, b/c I will always feel the number can be smaller, so instead, I'm going by how I feel when I look in the mirror. And will judge success by the size of the pants I'm wearing. I want to be a size 8, I am currently a size 22/24 depending on the brand.

I want to have more energy to play with my kids, and to have the confidence to put myself out there and meet new people.
