The Future
Current mood: blank

In other news I'm thinking of bringing LH back in the autumn/winter months, but nothing is for sure just yet.  I guess at this point I'm just curious to see if anyone wants to still read the zine and would continue to read if it was active again.  If things do become active again the zine will be a bit different and the focus will be more so on neofolk, ambient, neoclassical, martial, industrial and related genres rather than say metal.  The only metal genres will focus on will be quality black/viking/folk/doom metal and nothing else.  'Tis all for now.

Lunar Hypnosis rests in peace
Current mood: busy
Category: Writing and Poetry

You've probably noticed that Lunar Hypnosis has been mostly dormant in recent months and the reason for this is simply because I've lost motivation for writing about music. This month marked the seven year anniversary of LH and after these seven years, 1200 reviews wrote, and several articles, interviews, website maintenance, countless hours spent updating, emailing labels, and a lot of other shit I'm simply burned out. Completely. I don't want to write about music any longer. Its become a burden and there are a plethora of other interests I've taken on fully and in the near future I may even try composing music. The truth is I thought about pulling the plug on LH already last autumn, but after getting that last compilation out I felt a temporary inspiration for a few months, but its completely gone again I'm afraid to say.

There are lots of other reasons, but I'll save you some time and just let you know that if I'm going to spend time on writing then its going to be on my novel, which I started back in August of last year.

There will however still be a few more reviews posted, but only a few. The site will also remain online as a archive of music reviews for at least the remainder of the year.

Of course I will always remain a music fan and I'll definitely keep buying records from my favorite bands as well as anything new that catches my ear. If you'd like to remain in contact with me then please follow this link (http://jjm1981.deviantart.com/). This will also give you a good idea of what I'm busy and most interested in these days.

Finally I must thank all the labels and loyal readers that stuck around and supported us all these years. Of course not to forget all the wonderful contributors over the years that helped out. With that said I bid thee all farewell. Thanks for reading.

Dark Nature Themed Photography - Anyone need an album cover?
Current mood: awake
Category: Art and Photography

I've been pondering it for awhile now (years to be honest), and I think I'd finally like to get some sort of graphic art service going.  In particular I'm interested in doing album or demo covers for bands that enjoy dark nature themed photography.  It's no secret that music makers of darker varieties have often used this sort of decoration for their releases, but an all too common trait I've noticed is that generally a lot of these pictures have been of low quality.  Perhaps that is merely just coinciding with the black metal attitude that everything has to be ugly or perhaps these individuals just didn't have a decent source.  This is where I come in.

I won't claim to be the best, but I surely can say I am not the worst either.  I enjoy taking photos of landscapes, forest, bodies of water, graveyards, etc usually with a dark twist to them, and would really like to start working with some bands (of any genre) that may be interested in using these sorts of images for their releases.  For now I'll simply post some of my past work as well as some recent photos I've taken.  If you are at all interested then please get in contact.  Thanks for reading.

Examples of my work:

Recent Photos:

Of course these are just a few samples.  I've got tons more.  Thanks for looking.

(Some) old reviews being removed from LH archive
Current mood: busy
Category: Writing and Poetry

It's something I've been thinking about for a long time now and finally I've decided to go ahead and do it.  Many of my older reviews on Lunar Hypnosis, in particular those wrote between '01 & '02 are of low quality and generally terribly wrote.  If truth must be spoken then I have to admit that back in these days my writing skills were insufficient if not goddamn poor at times.  I've come to a point where I'm highly critical of my own work and since I enjoy writing so much I simply can't allow old garbage to linger on the internet.  Of course not everything will be removed and all promo related reviews will remain, but since I have always reviewed albums from my personal collection many of these old ones will be disappearing.  It's fairly likely that I'll also be removing some low quality reviews from old writers that I haven't spoke to in years.  This old review removing chore is not something that's going to happen all at once, but gradually without much notice.  Of course this will make the review archive very, very slightly smaller, but I see no point in keeping terrible reviews online at this point.  Hope you understand my decision and desire to keep Lunar Hypnosis a quality 'zine rather than just a 'zine with an endless horde of reviews.
