A Personal Message From Jill Cunniff & Luscious Jackson

Hey!

It has been TOO long. We ladies of Luscious Jackson are so glad to have a greatest hits album coming out. We have all gone off and had kids and gotten married etc etc and it has been really fun and funny to go back and look and listen to the work we did back in the 90's. We always joke that we were a "90's band" and we were, spanning the years 1992-2000 and not stopping during that time. From our first demos recorded in a basement to working with the renowned producer Daniel Lanois at his New Orleans mansion Kingsway Studio, we lived music. If we weren't writing or recording, we were touring. We blended our own love of guitars and hip hop samples with street recordings and brought in as many influences as we could. Yeah, we were in the commercial world with singles like Naked Eye, but that brought us places we never could have imagined. The whole time, the Beastie Boys looked over our career (especially Mike D. who ran Grand Royal Records, our label, and who wrote the liner notes for the Greatest Hits). We played in festivals like Lollapollooza, Lillith Fair (wow, those broads on that tour sure could sing-Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris etc), Big Day Out in Australia and New Zealand, and Reading in England. We traveled around the world, trying vegetarian cuisines in Budapest and Tokyo and survived on potatoes and kiwis in Germany. We met so many musicians along the way, some of whom became long time friends. And guess what? We are all living music still in our own ways...see all our myspaces for more information.

Ciao, and we hope to see you soon in concert when we play our funky kids music....Stay tuned here for upcoming gigs.
