My thought is me: that's why I can't stop. I exist because I think...and I can't stop myself from thinking. - Jean-Paul Sartre

Happy Birthday Ladybug!!
Current mood: nostalgic
Category: Life

9 years ago I woke up after finally giving up on "trying" to get you out just after your daddy left for work, my water broke and you said you were finally ready to meet us. After waiting for daddy to return from being in bumper to bumper traffic on his way to work and back home we got to the hospital a little after 9. I had the most horrible back labor and barely "cramped" from the contractions in my belly. They made me walk and walk and walk and walk til I was literally on all fours from the pain! LOL I chose not to get an epidural as I was afraid it would affect you (well actually I was afraid I'd paralyze myself if I moved from getting that long needle in my spine...). After 15 minutes and 3 pushes, you finally blessed us with your presence at 3:45pm. You were 19 inches long and weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces. You had a head full of hair and we named you Alaena Rose. They say you are your name so I wanted a romantic name that would roll off a man's tongue (what can I say...I'm a romantic at heart!), a unique name so you'd stand out in a crowd, and a strong name because even though I wanted you kind in heart and different from the rest, I knew how important it is to be strong. Alaena (pronounced Uh-lay-nuh) was that romantic and unique name and Rose was that strong name like the matriarch of the famous Kennedy's. Later we learned that Alaena means "dark haired exotic beauty" and it couldn't have been a more appropriate name for you.

TODAY...

  • You are: a bright and beautiful girl
  • You are: a big sister to your little brother and little sister
  • Your favorite color is: Purple
  • Your favorite animal is: horse
  • Your favorite actor/actress/singers: Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers
  • You love to: ride horses, research, instant message, email, and play on the internet, play soccer, watch movies, read books, take pictures, learn new things, create things with your hands, and write stories
  • Your favorite foods: spaghetti and ice-cream

I love you Ladybug! We all love you! We're so proud of you and everything you've done! You are and will always have a special place in mommy's heart. You remind mommy daily to strive for constant improvement and to learn new things.

(Side note to parents who know what it's like to watch a child grow...for the past 2 days I've CRIED going through pictures from the time she was born til now...it's amazing how fast they grow...one minute you're holding their tiny bodies in your arms and the next they're nearly as tall as you borrowing your socks (well...in my case at least since I'm only 5'1"...LOL).

Be Green in the Afterlife!!
Current mood: content
Category: Life

"A "Green" burial will typically ban the use of embalming fluids (or at least require alternatives), vaults, conventional markers, and metal caskets. Green burial sites are often located in meadows and wooded areas that do not require constant maintenance, and the clear-cutting of trees. A "Tree Burial" is one type of green burial in which the body is laid to rest under a newly planted tree."

To read more about "How to Be Green in the Afterlife" go to: http://life.gaiam.com/gaiam/p/HowtoBeGreenintheAfterlife.html

Hubby and I have often spoken about just being cremated and buried in the same spot together but this is better!  After reading the article I told him I wanted a tree planted in my spot, then when he dies if he wishes, we can add his ashes to the soil around the tree as well.  I never did see a point to caskets and markers.  We both haven't seen our parents graves in years and I certainly don't want people to remember me in death but in life.

"In a sense, the tree is you - living on..."

Watch Out!!
Current mood: silly
Category: Fashion, Style, Shopping

Look!  I'm a chameleon so watch out Jennifer Garner!!  I feel like Jennifer Garner in Alias (boy do I miss Vaughn and Sydney…L) with all the different wigs to blend into character!!  Oh what fun it was to check out different looks for me!! LOL  Definitely makes getting a new look easier and gives you more confidence in the output.  Some looks make my face look rounder, others make my face look more slender, finding that right shade of color can also make a difference.  I think I like the darker brown with the highlights versus the milk chocolate brown with highlights.  Hubby of course picks the styles I currently can wear or one's I've had not too long ago.  He even thought the choppy short 'do was cute.   Hmmm…summer is coming…think I'd get the courage?!  A new summer color is definitely a must…but will I shorten?!  Hmmm…what's your favorite look? (And yes…for those curious…this is a RECENT picture of me…in fact from this past Sunday…)

THREE...
Current mood: pensive
Category: Life

Wrote this awhile back in another blog but thought I'd share it here for those with no access to the other...LOL

OK...so I'm a bit obsessed with 3 (I kid you not that EVERY time I see numbers, I AUTOMATICALLY count them up in my head to break it down to 1 digit, I PANIC if a single digit is not "comfortable" with me, yeah I'm odd)... shoot my entire life THREE has been it...everything significant in my life and special numbers, even when they were more than 1 digit long STILL broke down to 3...TODAY the number 3 has been SCREAMING at me and I decided to look it up. So incase anyone else out there was wondering what the number 3 has been symbolized with throughout history, here's what I found...

~By Janet Bristow & Victoria Galo, 1998, 2007~

We've all heard people say that "things happen in 3's."

In the Christian faith tradition, the number 3, symbolized by the Trinity (Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer), has come to mean wholeness. The 3 attributes of God are omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. It is said that the number 3 is used 523 times in Scripture!

In the Kaballah:  male/female/uniting intelligence
Hindu:  creation/destruction/preservation, unfolding/maintaining/concluding
Taoist:  Great Triad:  Heaven/Human/Earth
From the Buddhist tradition, comes "The Triple Gem" or "The Three Jewels," which is the Buddha (the enlightened one), the Dhamma (the teachings), and the Sangha (the community of followers).

Many phases of life happen in combinations of three:

child/adult/senior
mother/father/child
maiden/mother/crone (the 3 stages of a woman's life)
past/present/future.
Some people believe in the combination of life/death/rebirth (meaning life after death).
There are 3 acts of existence - birth/life/death.

We've heard of the concept of:

Body/mind/ spirit, which encompasses the physical, mental, and spiritual makeup of a human being.
We have been encouraged to live and act in faith/hope/charity.
The combination of thought, word, and deed is the sum of the capability of humans.
The 3 types of matter are animal, vegetable, and mineral.

The number 3 stands for that which is solid, real, substantial, complete, and entire.

According to the Chinese, 3 is a perfect number;
To the Mayan, the sacred number of woman.
Egyptians see it as the number of the cosmos.
Japanese:  3 Treasures – truth/courage/compassion

In general:

there are 3 primary colors with which it is possible to obtain all the colors;
there are 3 keys of music Do, Fa, and Sol are the three most important notes in music
the three divine principles: light, heat, and life;
three types of universe: matter, astral (mental or soul) and spirit;
three phases of the moon;
the earth, sea, and sky of nature.

The 3-stitch seed pattern was selected as symbolic of planting peace, healing, love, comfort and hope into the shawls by the shawl maker for the receiver.  May you be inspired by the significance of these symbolisms which are meant to enhance the creating and receiving process of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Beauty Tips by Audrey Hepburn
Current mood: pensive
Category: Life

Took this from someone online, just can't remember who at the moment...so if it was you that is reading it now...forgive me for not giving you credit? :-)

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when

asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness...

For lovely eyes , seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure , share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair , let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise , walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone...

People, even more than things, have to be restored,

renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,

you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

 As you grow older,you will discover that you have two hands ;

one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Your Life Is Now...
Category: Life

I like the words in John Mellencamps "Your Life is Now". How true it is. This moment is your life. Yesterday is just a memory and experience and tomorrow is not yet here. But your life is now - Go make a difference in your life and/or anothers.

Your Life is Now

See the moon roll across the stars
See the seasons turn like a heart
Your father's days are lost to you
This is your time here to do what you will do

Chorus:
Your life is now your life is now your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Would you teach your children to tell the truth
Would you take the high road if you could choose
Do you believe you're a victim of a great compromise
'cause I believe you could change your mind and change our lives

Chorus:
Your life is now your life is now your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Would you teach your children to tell the truth
This is your time here to do what you will do

Chorus:
Your life is now your life is now your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Your life is now your life is now your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

ME...
Current mood: content

I'm stripping off that mask cause I'm tired of hiding who I am...If you don't like it, you know where the door is...I am many things to many and many things to me...Many say I am ambitious...is that really a bad thing? I want what I want and I'll do my best to get what I want...I was always taught growing up that I am the only person stopping myself from truly achieving the things I desire in this world...I block myself from having those things I desire...I dream a lot, I create a lot, and I do a lot...I am somebody's lover, I am somebody's wife, I am someone's friend...I am somebody's mother, I am somebody's daughter, I am somebody's sister, and I am somebody's aunt...I am a student for life and I am a teacher for life....I am very loveable and caring, but I can also be somebody's nightmare...I over research and over analyze most times...I am stubborn but I am most definitely determined...I am strong to most and strong at times for myself, but I am also weak within...I believe in forgiveness even when it's so hard to forget...I believe in faith and hope even when it can be a struggle...I believe in self-improvement so I can be a better person for me and my family...I believe in learning from my past experiences...and I believe in getting over grudges so I can get on with living...I believe in Christ and what he did on the cross for my sins...But I know that I am NOT perfect, nor will I EVER be perfect...I have my days that I am a "good Christian" and I have my days when I am not such a "good Christian"...This is me...take it or leave it...I don't care...what you think of me really doesn't matter...for I am ME...
