some good press for ADORE ::

MARC-ALAN GRAY & NICK SANTILLAN

ADORE - LOVESLAP!
CLICK HERE to listen to this song
.......................................................

Loveslap are becoming the new kids on the block of deep, atmospheric, soulful house. This outing by Marc-Alan Gray & Nick Santillan is another sublime piece of soulful house which will see the Loveslap label take another couple of notches on the ladder of success. Sweet vocals come in the form of Carrie, and with added mixes from Chris Brann, of Wamdue, this is surley going to carry 'Adore' into those long hot summer nights. M8/M8
(Ian 'Boney' Clarke, M8, June 2002)

........................................................

A slice of quality soulful house from San Fran label Loveslap Recordings that boasts a remix by that city's most famous producer, Chris Brann. His Wamdue mix combines chunky funky clav hooks and smooth 'live' organ lines with layers of percussion and heaps of real bass. Solid beats and Chicago girl Carrie's sweetly soulful vocal add both foundation and substance, rounding out a damn fine mix that got a lot of play in South Beach. The flipsided original is nice as well - much deeper, cooler and more on that chilled Naked vibe which sounds just right by the pool. 5/5 RECOMMENDED

good press for PILLOW TALK ::

SPENCER GRAY feat. HEATHER JOHNSON
Pillowtalk - Loveslap!
CLICK HERE to listen to this song
...........................................................

Loveslap! are looking good this summer with the new "Summertime" from Jay J, "Regarding Love" from Chris Lum looking very strong and the recent "Get Down" from K. Hand rocking floors all over town. The Ananda Project Mix of Pillow Talk is simply sublime and a real summer tune with a beautiful spanish-style guitar under the heavenly vocals of Heather Johnson. The melody will stick. The Ananda Project & Spencer Gray can do no wrong it seems...
(DJ Molotov, www.deephousenetwork.com, June 2003)

...........................................................

We'll head for Ananda Project's mighty sultry remix first. Bibbly bobbly bass, fluttering keys, weeping sax and Ms Johnson's moans teasing you with quality. Her honeyed vocal is seductive, the music smooth and silken. Sensual would be an understatement. The original here ain't bad either, taking a less urgent feel, but with some smooth jazz guitar glimmers working their way through the deep groove. Ananda Projects swing it though. 7.5/8
(Wiseblood, M8, May 2003)

This should soon feature on a dozen late-night compilation albums in its distinctive original form, with those types that think Sade is the pinnacle of sophistication creaming their pants for it. Chris Brann, Marc-Alan Gray, & Charles Spencer have a hand in this one.
(Andy Kemp, Echoes, April 2003)

...........................................................

This remix package opens with a rework from Chris Brann’s Ananda Project. It has a warm vibe with Latin-influenced percussion and bouncing bassline with a vibe like Kimblee’s "Fade" on Wave. Spencer Gray’s original is on the b-side that is more upbeat and jazzier than the remix with a more complex arrangement. A joy. 4/5
(Mark Moore, Blues & Soul, 892 22 April 2003)

............................................................

The quirky tech-soul of the original is pretty fine in itself but it's dat man Chris Brann on the remix that's really rocking the spot with an almost faultless deep house manoeuvre. A bassline warmer than thermal pants envelopes swinging laidback beats and Balearic geetar frills for a Naked-esque romp through the finer things in life. Has Chris Brann got the Midas touch? You better believe it. 4/5
(Cal Gibson, iDJ, April 2003)

............................................................

Smooth, deep, late night vocal excursion on a label that doesn't push out loads of releases, instead they concentrate all their efforts into quality of production. Female vocal sits nicely with tamed jazzual back track and Latin guitar hook. 7/8
(Kris Keegan, M8, April 2003)

............................................................

Chris Brann gets things off to a brilliant start with his sultry 'Ananda Project Remix', which boasts a percussive backing that slips and slides through the proceedings like a skater on fresh ice, so smooth and every bit as graceful with an uncompromising head nodding attitude. Whispered female vocal words take us up to the huge acoustic guitar solo, and the only break from the sublime groove is where the percussionist taps the skins jus' that little harder here and there for effect. The 'Spencer Gray Original' is equally as deep but with a livelier bobbling bass that is chased by delicate guitar pluckings. Heather freestyles over the track with long, long notes before settling into the full vocal, which is served up so softly. 3.5/5
(Yogi Haughton, DJ Magazine, 7-20 March 2003)

............................................................

Not a cover of Sylvia's '70s disco-erotica, instead an equally sublime soulful house shuffler with Ms Johnson's seductive adlibs punctuating as deeply as her heartfelt words. The sort of record that if made by Masters At Work would be heralded as the epitome of cool as it easily stands head and shoulders above the current competition. If this were a duvet it would be 15 tog goose feather and down! 5/5
(Lewis Dene, Update, 5-11 March 2003)

............................................................

The Spencer Gray Original is already turning heads with its soulful production and retention of the whole vocal whilst it retains a warm analogue feel and techy edge that would bring tears to the eyes of Larry Heard! Chris Brann meanwhile does what the Ananda does best on the flip. Exquisitley crafted guitar solos that carry you away to a beach in South America and drown you in a sangria infused sense of bliss. Sweet is too bitter a word to use. It oozes class - the sort of track that would have them screaming for more at Body and Soul.
