Just Koffee..

Because Ive spent most of my day being frustrated about the closing..Im not going to rant. I thought that incase anyone was wondering how i felt about the situation I would let it out on myspace..at least thats the way everyone else does. Im not going to just play along and say that Starbucks is evil and thats the reason they built 49 stores in Fresno. After all, who can blame a company for wanting to make money or someone for wanting to work where theyre going to get paid more and receive benefits. I guess out of all the reasons to be upset Im going to choose to be upset with Fresno. Not just the City of Fresno and all of the ignorant developers of downtown, but the whole community. I know people are busy, drive throughs are convienent and some just like to drink caffinated milk shakes but what happens when thats all thats left. There are many nice local shops but none like Koffeeheads. If you know us, you love us, if youve never been its unfortunate. What does it take for people to appreciate or treasure something great in this town? Weve got awards for best coffee in the valley and state...ask anyone, Who has the best coffee? Ill bet theyll say koffeeheads. Weve asked and its been proven. If you dont like coffee (or you like paying a lot for a bad product) this may not mean anything to you but this is more than just koffee. There is a reason why people dont know where Fresno is and what we have to offer. Fresno doesnt have anything unique or quality and if we do it is short lived because we dont support it. I knew I didnt exactly love this town but I could never pin point exactly why I was so repulsed. I now know. I also realize that Fresno is no huge city, and indeed we boast of our small town feel no matter how large we grow. Maybe someone can help me understand how we can continue to advertise this aesthetic without supporting our small hometown businesses. It maybe true that I am nieve, bitter, and rageful..or maybe I am just stupid for not understanding how Fresno can afford to let something so good go. Sorry..It appears this may have become a rant.
