Current mood: excited
Oh, happy day!
1. There's a brand new "Official Bootleg" up at www.marcwithac.com. It's from the This World Is Scary As Fuck-era. Sounds even better than I remember, and I think you'll like it very much. Please go and take it if you'd like to have it. It's only up for a week. Just one week, seriously. Go for it! But not before you read...:
2. We have Marc With a C t-shirts available for you to purchase online now!! I've been asked about these quite a bit, and there are incredibly limited supplies. They look a bit like this:

We have medium, large and XL in stock, but again... the supplies are way limited. If you want one, grab it. It's a steal at ten bucks, and we likely won't do another run for awhile. Get yours on the front page of www.marcwithac.com!
3. Two shows next week:
Friday, September 5th @ Austins! 9 PM, All Ages, FREE! 929 W Fairbanks Ave Winter Park, FL 32789 (407) 975-3364 with: Candlelight Vinyl & The Dark Knight Was Overrated.

A Comic Shop's birthday bash. Other acts include Dish, Rouge-Fi and Emergency Pizza Party. All ages, free. It'll be a short set. Marc's last until Halloween.
See you all soon! You're the bestest!
Marc
PS: There are some extra-special Official Bootlegs coming in the next two weeks. Stay tuned, seriously...

PHONING IT IN, TONIGHT!
Oh, I couldn't be more excited about this one. Tonight, (Thursday, August 21st), I'll be playing on a live, streamable radio show online. That's right... I'll be on the legendary "Phoning It In" show. In the past, the show has had guests like Mountain Goats, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Daniel Johnston, Wrens, Jens Lekman, Portastatic, Travis Morrison, Petra Haden, The Capstan Shafts and like over 300 other incredible artists from all over the world. To say that I'm excited beyond belief is the ultimate understatement.
The best news is that YOU can listen in live as well. Just navigate over to http://wmbr.mit.edu/, click on the appropriate "listen" link at 7:30 PM EST, and kick back for a half an hour of Marc With a C in your living room... over the phone!
And also, hurricanes be damned, there's still the show on Friday night!
Friday, August 22nd @ Taste! A "Road To Nerdapalooza" show! 10 PM, 18 and up, $6 admission! 717 W Smith St Orlando, FL 32804 with: Hotpants Romance and CARS CAN BE BLUE!
If you miss this one, you'll kick yourself. I couldn't be more honored to be playing a show with one of my most favorite twee-pop bands ever: Cars Can Be Blue. One of the most amazing acts you'll see this year period… you seriously have to do everything possible to see this show. We don't advocate killing… but we can understand.
Hear/see you soon?

Popfest review from the Athens Exchange.
from: http://www.athensexchange.com/articles/873
Oh Fortuna/ Marc With A C/ Hot Lava, PopFest, Flicker, 8/16/08 by Casey DeHoedt 08/19/2008
For the last Flicker show of PopFest, I had arrived – sadly – late. The exterior empty... Oh man, is everyone still stealing some extra moments for sustenance? Entering the theater/stage/bar the place was packed as Oh Fortuna was crowded on the stage. Some sat idly on the couch, others stood on the wooden folding chairs.
"If I don't wake up, I'll never stop dreaming," sings JT Bringardner. The crowd chants and claps along before the synth amps into a full-bodied harmony.
I usually refer to Oh Fortuna as glam-twee; glam from presentation, and twee for the obvious. The glam certainly sparkled as the multi-member band matched in their KC and the Sunshine Band/ABBA uniforms of white jumpsuits and rainbow ornamentations. Their merch table (the only thing I can really see from my position) is a spread of glow-in-the-dark star shaped sunglasses and their free demo. Dreamy and whimsical, and fitting to their celestial sounds.
"C'mon let's get some bodies movin – let's get sweaty!" says Bringardner before their last song. The reverb of the synthesizer echoing up into the rafters as Oh Fortuna sings of light-hearted joy. "I'll believe it, I'll believe it all when I've seen it all," sings the chorus of voices as the last few overtones dangled in the air.
"That was really awesome" is all that could be heard afterwards.
Marc With a C and his acoustic guitar stood up next. An Adonis of Atari, the Prometheus of pocket protectors: Marc With a C puts the pow in power ballads. His cherubian face, pajama pants and bare feet the antithesis of Oh Fortuna's colorfully constructed costumes. He looks like the guy who just got up from a late night of D&D and pizza and just had to "sing a song." Marc With A C relates sagas of geekdom and the romantic stigmas that (un)accompany this realm.
Somewhat more of a standup comic than a musician, Marc packs his set full with quips between and within songs. "I've seen a lot of bands give things away, but I haven't seen anything 'Pop'," as he tosses Poptarts (and granola bars) to the crowd.
During a song, Marc develops an intimacy with the crowd as he shares his soul-searching experience on quizilla.com. He's Veronica Sawyer. He has a thing for Christian Slater. Well... that's not true. I mean, he liked Pump Up the Volume but he didn't like Kuffs. He loves everyone he meets... Except Christian Slater – whom he actually has never met.
This is what Marc tells us as he expresses his love for everyone (except Christian Slater), even for people who go to monster truck rallies, drink Busch beer and beat up his mom.
"I've always wanted to jump off a stage in Athens... Now I did... It was fuckin awesome," says Marc after he'd stepped off the seven inch rise of the Flicker stage and approached a female in the crowd.
Lastly the quartet from Richmond, Hot Lava, took the stage. I felt myself feeling entranced from the combination of the encroaching storm outside, and the smooth alto of Allison's lead vocals. There's something sort of late Pixies-ish about their music. Sleazy bass riffs, minimalistic key hooks and pop drum beats as their songs are structured on builds and releases of dynamic.
The atmosphere of Flicker' Saturday shows was fun. As the sets progressed, attendance had filtered but the mood was jovial as everyone took an initiative to meet and greet with one another and shoot the well-received breeze drifting in from the West.

New interviews? New shirts? New mediums of commerce?
Current mood: rejuvenated
Category: Parties and Nightlife
Let's cut to the chase, folks. There's a lot going on, and I'm gonna fill you in on all of the details.
1. I'd recently done an interview with Steven Ray Morris at Foggy Ruins of Time. Click the link to go and read it... it's a long one, and I'm pretty proud of this interview. I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of doing these things. Thanks, Steven!
2. I've posted the entire interview I did with Songs and Sonics on the press page of www.marcwithac.com. Go and have a look!
3. If you come to any of the upcoming shows in Florida or Georgia, you'll have a crack at getting one of the new limited edition Marc With a C t-shirts! Here's a peek:

If there are enough left over after the upcoming shows- and enough interest - we'll come up with ways for you to order them online!
4. For those in the Orlando area, my records are available at both A Comic Shop and Park Ave CD's. Supplies are limited. Like, way limited.
5. You rule. Every last one of you.

What do you get when you cross an owl with a bungee cord? (revised edit... with photo!)
Category: Religion and Philosophy
Whaddaya know? It's like three in the morning, and I can't sleep. Again! Think I'll write/type some random things with the intention of broadcasting it over an endless amount of tubes, wires and telephone lines, which some of the kids today are calling the internet. I still use it roughly the same amount as I ever have, but I'm trying to type less on it. You know, getting older, arm hurts due to constant usage, all that jazz. I'm at the ripe old place in life that every growing boy will reach: the one that involves chiropractors. So, in an effort to get my mind off of that, as well as the dental pain - which is probably under control, and I'm just slower at healing than most... or just whiny - I'll be typing whatever comes to mind until I get sleepy or tired of doing this. Whichever comes first. - I saw Unicornicopia (i.e. Natalie Weiss) a few nights ago for the first time in about four years. If you've been around, you may have caught one of the numerous shows we'd done together during 2002 - 2004. She's since relocated to New York and was passing through on her tour. Instead of having her old backing band, she's running all of her music herself via samplers, multiple microphones and even cheaper keyboards than I use. There was no accordian, either. Her new shows border way more on the "performance art" side of things than the "indie pop songs with definable endings" tip. It was entertaining to see for the whopping 25 minutes she was onstage, but... I do have to admit that I was a bit disappointed to not hear "La La Like You", "Goals" or "Aphrodite's Cantakerous Knave". Only one old song in the set, and I don't even remember the title of it. But still, nice to see her, and I'm excited to see how she'll whittle this all down to an album one day. - Alright. In my continuing tradition of getting wrapped up and obsessed in one major news story every few years, I simply can't take my eyes off of this Caylee Anthony story. Now, quite obviously, I hope that this three year old girl is found safe and happy, but things are looking a little less than bright and sunny in that area at the moment. But seriously... her mom is the real piece of work. It's like watching the best reality show ever. Putting pieces of her story together is becoming really fun, especially since Lost is off the air until February. You can find out more about this girl and her antics by spending five minutes googling her name and ignoring the news story itself. And again, no disrespect to the missing little girl, but... fuck. Girls like Casey still exist? They haven't yet been exterminated for the greater good? I mean, I'm probably very spoiled by living with someone as wonderful as my wife, but, damn. If that's today's average twentysomething girl... I can start to really understand agoraphobia. - If you like Jonathan Richman and you own a record player, you seriously need to get the vinyl edition of his album "Because Her Beauty Is Raw And Wild" like, yesterday. Not only is it probably the most broad range of songwriting territory he's tackled in years, but he also revisits the first Modern Lovers album by re-recording and revising "Old World". On top of that, there's no sticker on the front alerting you to this fact, but there's a hidden bonus 7" inside. It has a really fucking great tune called "You Can Have A Cell Phone, That's Okay, But Not Me". Not only is it his best song since roughly 1998m but... it sounds like a *new* Modern Lovers song. For sixteen bucks? You get big artwork, a gatefold sleeve, heavy wax, liner notes and a bonus disc? Yeah, tell the CD buyers to stuff it. I got way cooler stuff for the same aount I would have spent on that flimsy silver disc. - Due to the fact that I've been a bit sidelined physically recently, I haven't really rehearsed much at all. But that all changes tomorrow. I'm able to play guitar at longer stretches than I have in weeks, and I'm ready to go for a full-fledged rehearsal. I'll start rehearsing alone, rummaging through the solo tunes to figure out what we're playing for the next two weeks, and Chris will join me on Tuesday to hammer out the big power pop sections at the shows. If you're coming to an upcoming show, let us know whatyou're dying to hear. Otherwise, you're getting a lot of stuff from the newest album and "Nerdy Girls". That'd be a pretty short show. (I kid, we know what we're doing. Kinda.) - Does anyone have $15,000 that they'd like to invest in a business venture? If you've got some money lying around that you'd like to double in two years, let me know. I'll tell you what's going on. And no, I'm not kidding. - As I've had a lot more time away from work lately, I've been listening to more records lately. It's odd, I step away from hearing mediocrity all day, and the first thing you want to do is jump headfirst into some of those "essential albums" you'd never gotten around to hearing do to preconceived notions or other such sillyness. While not all of these albums totally fit into that category, here's a few that have been blowing my mind lately: Love's "Forever Changes", Sloan "Never Hear The End Of It", Dr. Dooom (Kool Keith) "First Come, First Served", Kate & Anna McGarrigle "S/T", Sun Ra "Cosmic Tones For Mental Therapy", the new Juliana Hatfield record, and pretty much the whole Kirsty MacColl discography. And after much deliberation, I seriously doubt we'll ever get around to doing a full Kirsty MacColl tribute albums. Some things are so good, you just can't touch them. We'll still play "Chip Shop" live though. That's super fun, but... wait. That wasn't the inital point. I'm up for any suggestions of supposedly "classic records" that I oughta hear. Preferably looking for things made prior to 1995, but if you've got something up yoursleeve from last year, go ahead... blow my mind with it. - This new Bawls root beer flavored energy drink is pretty much the greatest thing invented since Buble Yum soda went bellyup. Do yourself a favor. - Again, with the whole age thing. I've been seriously considering trying to quit smoking all year long. The last time I tried it, it was the most horrifying experince I could have ever dreamt up, plus a hurricane sort of destroyed my neighborhood while I was detoxing, so that didn't leave a good taste in my mouth about the experience. I can't see any negatives about quitting, other than that whole "guaranteed weight gain" part. It's weird how I'm really concerned about some aspects of my health, yet I'm often mindlessly puffing away on a stick of rolled turkish tobacco. - Okay, seriously. When did you all start ironically liking Journey? I get that "Don't Stop Believin'" is actually way catchier than it has any right to be, but no. Is there some big joke behind the fact that people are playing those albums for pleasure again? I mean, I don't care how much my tastes may change and mature over time, but the day that I start thinking that "Raised On Radio" is a good album, please... kill me. Make it a long, drawn-out and painful death too. Remind me why you are doing it at all points in time. - If we're gonna adhere ourselves to a washed up act from the 80's, can we instead agree on the first three Billy Squier albums? Specifically, side one of "Don't Say No". If you people can't enjoy that more than ironic Journey worship, I may actually have to withdraw myself from the human race entirely. - I'm out of things to say at the moment, my tooth is begging for more Ibuprofen, and I'm starting to get sleepy. I'd like to remind you of the following upcoming shows: Thursday, 8/14 @ Copper Rocket, Maitland, FL (w/ Magitek and RPG) Saturday, 8/16 @ Athens PopFest, Atlanta, GA (w/ pretty much every Elephant 6 band ever) Friday, 8/22 @ Taste, Orlando, FL (w/ Hotpants Romance and.... CARS CAN BE BLUE - one of the greatest twee pop bands ever!) I'm very excited to get back to doing some shows. I'm even more excited to see you all soon. But right now, nothing excites me more than the idea of sleep. Good night, all. Love on ya, Marc PS: If you come to any of the above listed shows, you'll have your first crack at getting one of these bad boys:
Super, super limited in quantity and sizes, so don't sleep!
