Join the Glamazombies!
Current mood: dorky

Apparently, I have a yahoo group that's fairly active, so if you're a fan of Happy Hour, snarky zombies and sneak peeks at future titles, check into it.

Romantic Times Convention
Current mood: happy
Category: Writing and Poetry

So I'm heading off to Pittsburgh in a couple of days for the big RT convention. I'll be doing a panel (singular, thank God. Norwescon's schedule of 8 nearly killed me), to Club RT times, the book fair and mostly socializing with readers and writers.

If you're in the area swing by the Hilton on Saturday and we'll chat!

Barnes and Noble Paranormal Book Club is Live!
Current mood: aroused

I'll be over at the Barnes and Noble Paranormal Book Club all month, so I hope you'll swing by and ask questions, make fun and try to humiliate me.  You'll have to register, but with Mario Acevedo taking the reigns in April and Caitlin Kittredge scheduled for May, it'll be well worth your time.  It's also a fun forum that I've been hanging out in quite a bit.

If that's not enough to keep you busy, writer bud Stacia Kane has 9 ways to get your grubby little hands on PERSONAL DEMONS, why not swing on over and give her contest a twirl or 9.

Back later with an actual post.

Join me for HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED
Category: Writing and Poetry

Well. Today's the day, folks. HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED has left the birth canal, snipped of it's umbilicus, been wiped clean and thrown to the bookstores (or most of them). I've been running around all crazy-like. My parents took me to breakfast, because we're probably not doing a release party until next Saturday and they wanted to do something. That's why it's taken me so long to pop my head into the internets.

I want to thank everybody that's mentioned the book on their blogs, in forums and to their friends. Every positive comment helps and I've seen a lot of great stuff out there. I'm really psyched that people are having fun with HAPPY HOUR and I'm hoping everyone interested in humorous urban fantasy gives it a shot.

I signed some stock at a couple of Barnes and Nobles this morning, which was just as fun as the first time (Saturday), the booksellers have been really nice. My Amazon page changed so I can see reviews now which is awesome, though I can't seem to hit refresh enough waiting for more to show up. Anyone know how that works? Some people have told me they've posted but I think that Amazon only refreshes those every so often.

I did post a new UNSHAPELY THINGS topic over at the League book club and tomorrow, I'll be guest blogging at Bam's place (If you haven't been, go and expect depravity) AND my main character, Amanda has chiseled her way out of my brain pan and is chatting up Jez over at Jackie Kessler's Insert Witty Title Here.  So you've got to see that.  I assure you, it'll be quite the fashionable atrocity.

Anyway, thanks again. I'm a little overwhelmed and out of words.

Photospies Be Alert, Review Roundup and an Announcement of No Small Consequence!
Current mood: overstimulated

A conversation with my agent last week led to a weird realization. Even though the book is scheduled to go on sale February 26th, it could show up on shelves as early as Valentine's Day. That's like next week.

Oh my God!

If anyone wants to play the photojournalist and send me pics of my book in the wild, I'd be really psyched, I'll probably pee myself. So much so (not the pee, the psyched), I'd send the first person a signed copy of the book and pick a random person from the rest of the photos for a second copy. So it's a contest.

A Contest!

I've been really honored to have some nice words said about the book, both here, from my friends on lj and now, the review sites are starting to post. Here are a few...

Anna's Book Blog
Darque Reviews + Interview
Fantasy & Sci-fi Lovin' Book Reviews
Janicu's Book Blog

And just a quick bit of pimpage to say that our very own alchemuse has started a book blog, with reviews and ramblings and such. I'm proud to have Happy Hour be one of the first reviewed (Damn You Anton!). You gots to check them shits out over at *headdesk*!

And now for the announcement part.

This may be hard to believe, but through no direct pimping on my part, HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED was chosen to be the March book for the Barnes and Noble Paranormal Book Club. They're currently featuring Richelle Mead's SUCCUBUS ON TOP, so you know that conversation's gonna get wild. I'll be swinging by daily in March to talk about Amanda, Wendy and Gil, plus all things vile and disturbing. I can't even tell you how excited I am, and to think I had to keep it under my hat for a month.

Here's the linkage...

Barnes and Noble Paranormal Book Club

Preorder Happy Hour of the Damned at B&N*
Order Succubus on Top at B&N and get in on the fun early.

*check out the second review, I've been Klausnerized--to steal a term from Cherie Priest.

New Website and Other Stuff

After days of torturing myself with html, wsywigs and self doubt, I finally have something I can live with and a logo that I want on a business card.

Seriously, with my website on the back and email address, wouldn't that make an awesome business card? Anyway, swing by markhenry.us and let me know what you think.

Also...

Today is the last day of Book Club at the League of Reluctant Adults, so you're on notice. C.E. Murphy is picking a winner from our crop of commenters. The prize? A pre-release copy of her new book, HOUSE OF CARDS.

Romantic Times gives Happy Hour 4 Stars - Plus A Signing Event!

I got my first print review!

Romantic Times gives HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED...

Wait for it...

4 stars.

Unless you're a subscriber, you can't see the whole review, but I have and the reviewer issued a WARNING! For me, that's just like telling people there's candy inside. Sure, that candy is made of body parts, but it's still sweet as hell. Glee!

The other thing...

On March 25th, I'll be travelling down to Portland with the lovely and talented Mario Acevedo for a Reading/Signing at Powell's in Beaverton. Mario will be hawking his new book, THE UNDEAD KAMA SUTRA, which--come on--the title alone fills me with the chagrin of jealousy. Not to mention that I have cover envy so bad, that I'm thinking of including those metal scrotums that dangle off the back of truck hitches with every copy of HAPPY HOUR sold (just joking people, seriously, don't hold me to that. Those guys that buy those things look like they're willing to pay tons for their inferiority complexes, just look at the trucks, I can only imagine how much they're paying for pewter nut sacks).

Just look...

Why must I be tortured like this?

Anyhow, it's looking like it might be an all out urban fantasy rumble. With some Seattle heavies hittin' the road to do the Portland thing. Can the Oregonians pull off a party filled night of fantasy for our travelling band of hellions? Or will it end in a frenzied dance off álá West Side Story?

We'll see. We shall see.

My First Time!

Guest blogging, of course. I'm over at Bam's It's Not Chick Porn. Did you think I would really splay myself open and describe the awkward scrabblings of youthful sexuality?

Well, of course, I would.
