If you're looking for a photographer, look no further. Michele Coleman, who runs her own studio out of Ravenswood, is amazing!!
See for yourself! Her myspace page features some pretty cute kids, if I do say so myself....
She was very patient and kind when trying to get pictures of my three-year-old. Especially when he thought it was the most fun thing to play "Don't look at the photographer". And she was also patient with my eleven-year-old, who really didn't even want to be there in the first place.
We were also the "fluff" piece last night on Channel 13’s late news. (And it was late - the basketball game ran over past 11:00.)
All in all so far it’s been a wonderful tourney. The club has been infused with new blood - an awesome young group of people who bring a whole new vibe.
I love you guys! (I say that completely sober, too...)

This morning, on our way to work/preschool, Andrew and I were listening to my new Regina Spektor cd. (The cd's been out for over a year, but it's new to me.) We were listening to the song "Fidelity", and we were both singing along at the end, "And it breaks my heart, breaks my heart..."
In the silent pause between the end of that track and the beginning of the next, Andrew said very calmly, "It breaks my heart, Mom."
"What breaks your heart?" I asked.
"Celery, " he said. "Celery breaks my heart."
As I pondered the injustice that the one food with a negative caloric intake has the flavor of cardboard, I completely understood. My son is a genius.
OR maybe he's just been watching too much "Wonder Pets".
I have to give thanks to Jedi Jawa for posting a link to my blog. Not only did he add me to his blogroll, he posted a video I shared with like-minded political junkies a few days ago.
I've been one of his readers for several months now, and I find him to be informative and entertaining. If you enjoy reading posts about Charleston, law or Scrabble (three of my interests), you'll like his blog. So check it out!
Last night, we decided to celebrate my sister's birthday a day early. (Happy birthday Loodle!!) We had a lovely dinner at Longhorn, which offers food conducive to my current way-of-eating. Dinner went very well, though I couldn't shake the dread of knowing that I was going to have to drive home in the snowy conditions that were worsening outside.
When dinner was over, just after 8:00, Brad, Katie, Andrew and I piled up in my trusty front-wheel-drive Corolla and started our trek home. We got as far as the Davis Creek exit, going very slowly as the roads were slick, before traffic just...stopped. It was bumper-to-bumper, and we were literally inching our way toward home.
It was about that time that I realized, "Gee, I really have to pee." Maybe I shouldn't have gotten and sucked down that refill on my drink.
Oh, and we were almost out of gas.
I called Loodle and asked how she was faring. She had decided to do some shopping after dinner, and was still in the shopping plaza. I told her she might as well make a night of it, since traffic conditions were so horrible.
We continued forward movement, though it was painfully slow. An hour and a half later, we were in front of Ashton Place. The roads were covered with ice. My bladder was screaming. I thought about pulling out of traffic and stopping at Kroger just so I could relieve myself. After seeing another car try to get up the small hill to Ashton Place, and fail miserably, I decided to stick it out. How much longer could we be in traffic, really?
The answer: another hour or so. From what we can gather, there was no wreck holding up traffic. The police had blocked off the long hill leading up to the Oakwood intersection because it was impassable, and we were all just waiting for the salt truck to treat it. When traffic finally started moving again, I headed for the 7-11 at the top of the hill, hoping to pee and fill up the gas tank, so we could get home. While they do sell gas, they do not have public bathrooms. How very unfortunate for me.
We decided to go home on the back roads, and forego the interstate. That was the best decision we could have made, because we later heard that the interstates were closed.
We pulled into the driveway at about 10:45. Two-and-a-half hours later. I've never been so happy to see home.
What did I learn?
1 - Check the weather forecast before going out on a February night. 2 - Pee before leaving a restaurant. You just never know. 3 - (Icy roads) plus (heavy traffic) equals high anxiety. And hours that I'll never get back. 4 - Keep your gas tank at least half-full this time of year.
You know the holiday that's right around the corner? The one that gives us the opportunity to show our love with offers of candy, flowers and cards with hearts on them?
I took the Belief-O-Matic quiz, and here are my results. Very interesting indeed!

The top score on the list below represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa.
Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking.
