If you haven't come out to Bishops for the early Saturday shows this year you've missed some fun. Bruce, Jim and I are having a blast playing as a trio and doing alternating songwriters sets for the happy hour folks. You can usually tell who wrote a song by who is singing the lead vocal. Or if you know all the words and can sing along its probably one of the few covers we slip in each night.

Thanks to Katy Schneider for sitting in this past week. We had fun adding her songs and voice into the mix. And I think Bruce enjoyed the extra freedom of having a rhythm guitar.

Happy New Year

Having a beard gives you some insulation from the cold. but when its subzero, you can feel the hairs stand up on your face as they freeze, and the moisture from your breath forms icicles there almost immediately.

Holiday Spirit

If the commercialism of the holidays gets to you, here's my solution:

Turn off the TV.
Don't go shopping.

Light a fire, read a book, pick up the phone and call someone you love - meet them for a drink or two and listen to some music.  Go to church and sing a few carols.  Pick your favorite charity and do something nice for someone.  Donate some canned goods to a food bank.  Clean out your closet and give the stuff you don't wear to the Salvation Army.  Little things do matter and they definitely make you feel good.

Pray for Peace on Earth and Goodwill Toward Men.  God knows we need it.

We're adding some early evening songwriter shows. I'll be at Bishops with Jen Tobey at 6:00 on friday, August 18th.
