Update 8/26/08
Droogies! Today has been a great day, started off early at my beach house, had some of my blend of coffee and headed over to the studio at 7:30 to do some work before meeting up with Pam to help her go over her coffee company. Hey, I really want to thank all of you for participating in my coffee crew. I just talked to Dave McRobb and asked how there would be a way that those of you that are in the Mustaine Coffee Crew can chat with me on those early mornings when I am sitting in the studio with 'nothing to do while the computers are tune-up themselves and go over the day before.' We also talked about some forums for ideas of other charities for us to consider, and I have been trying some other coffee flavors, other roasts, and blends for the holidays coming up. I am going to come up with a special blend for Thanksgiving and the proceeds will go to a new charity that we choose from you MCC member's suggestions. We will give a free bag of coffee, a coffee mug, and a 'Dave Mustaine Coffee' t-shirt. We are also going to have some contests and we will decide by tonight what we are going to do to have some fun this week! We will have some new film to put up from the studio build and it will be way different than the last time we built a studio since the technology has changed so much. We are still using Digidesign's Pro Tools and want to thank them and our rep Anthony Gordon. Also, Andy Sneap is coming over on the 8th to look at the joint and tweak some last minute stuff before he comes back at the end of the month. I have just one more day of sorting out cable and sh*t and then I will be able to start listening to tapes and CDs and watching DVDs and tapes to see what new stuff I came up with while I was out on the road this last – highly inspired trip! And besides nearly dying from the yellow fever, it really was an inspired trip, which I need to pick back up on the story . . . and so I will tomorrow. In closing, I look forward to all of the local musicians that love metal and need a great place to track that has the best gear, a great price, and comes with an old junk yard dog (me) We are going to have a great time at this place, just as much as I will, talking to you MCC guys in the mornings coming up. So until then, stay up real late so you will have to drink a lot of my coffee and get prepared for a great month of Virgo birthdays!!! Ciao for now!

Update 8/23/08
Droogies! I am writing this while sitting in my studio, and Justis and his friend from school, Ryan (a drummer) are in the lounge room blasting "Killswitch Engage" and now "Rush" for songs for their band, and I have some rare "extra time", so I wanted to make a post about last week and what we are doing next week. I had a barbeque at my house in Fallbrook after service on Sunday and met some of Pam's new friends, and got ready for something that I never thought I would do in my life. That is my adult life. But first comes Monday - a dreadful day for me. I have been struggling with my back for some time, and have been doing yoga, stretching, acupuncture, faith healing, "laying" on of hands, injections, chiropractic, and everything else you can imagine. Two years ago, almost, I went out to my friend in Ohio and went to the OSU Medical center and had MRI's done on my neck and spine for 1 3/4 hours. The next day the Doctor (and I say that reluctantly) said that I had stenosis, and acted like it was just indigestion and went on talking to someone else. Needless to say I was pissed by his cavalier attitude and when he told me that there was nothing I could do except take two Aleve and get used to it I felt doomed. After two more years of destroying my neck and back on tour and ruining my liver from the medication I finally went to the Kieran Jobe Clinic in Anaheim and my Dr. Orr Limpisvasti did more x-rays, and requested I get another series of MRI's done. I was also to be fitted with a brace, and a traction unit, and Physical Therapy. AGAIN WITH THE FUCKING PT! This time it's for six months. I went there on Thursday to find out the results of the MRI. This was the day that I find out if I go under the knife or not. Now, back to Electra getting the acting bug, and this is even with her brother started acting before her. You see when I was a kid my mom used to take us to the Costa Mesa Repertory Theater to see plays and acting. I know this is where Electra got her bug from, and consequently ended up with her as the co-host with her friend Wanda Goldberg from their show "Faithful Friends", which is a show about animals that is aired on the Animal Planet channel on cable TV for its second season this year. Anyway, I went out to Las Vegas on Tuesday with Pam to see the play "Mamma Mia". I thought it was going to totally suck when we went to see the movie and I actually liked it, so I easily agreed to the invitation to come see the play in L.V. and again I had fun. Except for the obese troglodyte woman that kept kicking the back of my chair, it was very enjoyable; not as good as the movie, but good just the same. I flew home on Wednesday and got back to work in the studio. Thursday was the day I found out the damage. And oddly enough, ever since I went to the dude Todd Bentley that everyone is saying is a healer; my back has been feeling better. It could be psychosomatic, but I digress. The Doctor came in the room and turned on the lightbox (what they use to view x-rays) and gave me the news. I have been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease and arthritis in my neck and that is what's causing all of the problems in my back. But don't despair, because I am in a great place and am very happy. I get to listen to my little boy just shred! in the other room and I am so glad that he isn't going to inherit my reputation and that he is going to be better than me. Friday and the work week is through, but not before I made another trip up to LA to film a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for VH-1's Rock Autism, and I also filmed a segment for the greatest 100 Hard Rock songs of all time and we were on it. I just hope that we stay on it! Lastly, I got to play the video game "Rock band" and was filmed playing against someone online, and this will all be aired in the near future, so we will text you a notice if you are signed up for TheLiveLine for me, and if not we will just post it here. I came back to the studio and stayed here until 12:30 AM with the Storekeeper and we went over all kinds of great stuff and we are going to be listing a DV-8 soon. This is one of my last ESP's and definitely a great guitar. Now, as I finish this post, I can't help but laugh about James Lomenzo coming over here this morning and setting off the silent alarm, and how Brooklyn it is of him to be gone when the Sheriffs all swooped, which was right when I pulled up I am finishing up the day here and getting the studio ready for our album and the private clients that come in here, which will be screened so that it is Droogies First :-) The rest of the weekend is going to be spent in Nashville with Justis, playing golf in a tournament, and although I asked good buddy Shawn Drover if he could make the drive up and it is just too much right now, so I wont see him for a few weeks still, but I may see some of you at the tournament, or at the airport coming and going Sunday and Monday with my son. Lastly, please say tuned for more developments from our Official site here and our MySpace.com/megadeth page and the Official Gigantour site and MySpace.com/gigantour page for details. We are going to be uploading a lot of films, podcasts, news, pictures and delivering out the fanclub packages. A big thank you goes out to Dave McRobb for his tireless efforts here at the Official site, and now he will also be running our MySpace pages. So, there should be a hell of a lot of stuff popping up all over soon. Until next week, call me!

CONTEST WINNER’S FATHER SENDS THANKS
Category: Music
14-year old Justin Seagraves from Reno, NV won the 'Intimate Session with Dave Mustaine' contest held this month, sponsored by Live Nation and Guitar Center. Justin received flights and accommodations to attend the Dave Mustaine - Guitar Center Sessions in Los Angeles on Thursday July 10th, plus a signed Dave Mustaine signature series DEAN guitar and a private guitar lesson with Dave!
We received the following heartfelt letter of thanks from the family.
To All: This is Justin's Dad again wanting to say "THANK YOU" from the bottom of My family's and Justin's heart!
First to Dave Mustaine of Megadeth: My Family and I couldn't have been any luckier than we were to have participated in what I am considering a life changing event for one 14 year old kid. Justin was pure awe struck with how you could play that guitar and the rest of us were in pure AWE of how good you were with Justin. Justin really listened to you on how you were helping him with the tabs of the songs. Once we arrived back at the hotel after the sessions, Justin pulled out that amazing instrument and said watch Dad, Justin started playing the intro to Syphony of Destruction and already was improved with what you had taught him. The chords were clearer now and I could really understand what he was playing. Thank you for that Dave.
I was so proud of how you took my son under your wing that night and really intently were there helping him, as if no one else was in the room, even though, it was filled with people taking pictures and watching, it was just you and Justin, playing together. I had high respect for you with all your accomplishments over the years, but more so now for you as a person and a father. Dave you were so down to earth, that I was so blessed to have seen it with my own eyes. You hear of so many stars these days that are caught up in there own egos, that they would not have given Justin the time, or took the time to really teach him something, but you did, and for that I want to say thank you!
Also, when you were being interviewed on stage, you looked down at Justin, called him your friend and interacted with him on that stage. It truly showed what a class act Dave Mustaine really is. It was all that Justin talked about after that. Again, thank you for showing this family, that in fact, good people really do exist in this world, and for anyone who is reading this, Dave Mustaine is one of them.
To that kid who was so rude to Dave during the interview, I hope you are reading this too, SHUT YOUR MOUTH, LEARN SOME RESPECT and let the man SPEAK!
Dave, I feel that I need to tell you Thank You also for what your music did for me while I was on tour in Afghanistan (with the Nevada Army National Guard for which I am still a member of) for the '05-'06 Campaign for OEF 6. On Sept 25, 2005, I lost 4 of my close friends in a Helicopter incident where they were shot down. In that time of grief and need, I played "A Tout le Monde". It made me feel what they might have been feeling in there minds at the times of their death, and I know it is what I will feel at the time of my death. Definitely a song that is amazing to me in a true life experience, that truly took place in a not so friendly world that we were put into. All of your songs have meaning, if people would just take the time to read the lyrics and think about the life experiences in the words that are written. I just wanted you to know what one of your songs meant to this soldier, it meant a lot and helped me through a tough time. Thank you for that Dave.
Also, thanks for your continuing support of our troops and my friends. Hopefully they can all come home soon.
Also, thanks to Traci, Nicole, and your bodyguard for being as nice as they were. It meant a lot to us.
In closing, Thank you for giving Justin the chance to meet you. It meant the world to him, more than you will ever know. I will email live nation with video updates on Justin's progress for you to see. It is truly amazing what you did for that boy, you have given him a confidence that he will cherish for a lifetime to come.
Second to Live Nation, Sara, Tammy and all the staff (sorry I can't remember everyone's name) that we met who put on such a promotion, Thank You!
When Justin told me that he had won, I was like ok, great you get a guitar and autograph, but what really transpired, can't even be put into words about this whole experience. Justin was given more than just a guitar, but a chance of a lifetime to truly meet someone that is truly an amazing Icon, Dave Mustaine, who is probably the coolest man on earth in my book.
Sara really stepped up for Justin and our family to totally accommodate us while we were in L.A. We can't thank you enough. From the time we had dinner at the House of Blues, to helping us locate the touristy tours of Hollywood to ensuring that we were taken care of at Guitar Center for the Intimate Sessions with Dave Mustaine. You guys are the best and I really was touched when Tammy came up to tell me that they were buying Justin an AMP for him to have. I started to break down, because the overwhelming emotions that I had for this whole experience really began to catch up to me. You guys have completely given this kid from Reno, the chance of a lifetime and I was so very blessed and proud to have been a part of it, that you can't even imagine what this will do for him. Way more than I ever expected or could have hoped for this boy. I know that I could not have given him these tools to help him with his music, but you guys at Live Nation, allowing us to be there and receive such a gift, is so very amazing. Thank you from the Seagraves Family! We really mean that!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE!!! JUSTIN, MYSELF and MY FAMILY CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!
All our best,
Ron, Angela, and Justin Seagraves

Congratulations Justin! Winner of "Intimate Session with Dave Mustaine"
Category: Music
14-year old Justin from Reno, NV has won the 'Intimate Session with Dave Mustaine' contest that was sponsored by Live Nation and Guitar Center.
Justin receives flights and accommodations to attend the Dave Mustaine - Guitar Center Sessions in Los Angeles on Thursday July 10th, plus a signed Dave Mustaine signature series DEAN guitar and a private guitar lesson with Dave!
Justin's father e-mailed us earlier today with a heart warming letter of appreciation as follows:
"Justin is your typical 14 year old kid with a taste for Rock n Roll, hanging with his friends, practicing tricks on his skateboard and being an older brother. He is the oldest of 5 siblings and has a lot to offer his younger siblings. In January 2008, Justin moved in with me his Dad after living with his mom for the last 13 years. Immediately, I knew he had a sense for music and wanted to help him to pursue his passion which was Rock N Roll. So his friend was selling his guitar, now it is a first act Wal-Mart style guitar, but a guitar none the less. He really wanted to learn to play it. With his own money, he purchased a used small amp off of Craigslist and really started to play. Justin logs onto a website, pulls off guitar tags, and then sits in his room and learns to play them. It is amazing what he has learned to do in the 6 months that he has been playing. Justin has even written a tag of his own. I am very proud of my son.
Justin's influences are Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, RIP Dimebag Darryl from Pantera, Kirk Hammett from Metallica and Paul from SlipKnot. He really tries to play like they do, but is hampered by the lack of good equipment to play on. He has not a great guitar, or a great amp, or even a wah pedal, but he uses what he has, then plays well. He goes to Guitar center with his best friend Brandon, and he shocks the store with the squeals of the dean guitars and gets thumbs ups from the workers.
Justin entered the Intimate Sessions with Dave Mustaine with the hopes of winning the guitar and meeting one of his idols. After entering, he said to me, wouldn't it be cool if I won? Can we go? I was like, um ok, well if you win, knowing that he had a slim chance to none to actually come out a winner.
When I got the call that he won, I was so happy for him! It was a chance in a lifetime and an honor to be able to not only meet Dave, who is one of his mentors, but also the same Dave that I grew up listening to. I was so thrilled and happy for him. This is more than just an honor, but really a dream come true for a kid who deserves more than I can ever give him in life. Receiving this Dean guitar means that Justin can now play on a nice piece of equipment and allow his creative guitar riffs come to life.
I hope Dave knows, that it won't just be a guitar that he is giving this kid from Reno, NV, but he is giving him hope, that the world is a nice place and that there are actually still good people in this world and Dave Mustaine is one of those people. Thank you Live Nation for giving this boy the opportunity of a lifetime. Something that he will never forget. You guys are the BEST!"

Droogie Message from Dave Mustaine
Category: Life
Droogies!
Happy July 4th to all of our American fans! This is going to be a fun weekend for a lot of people.
I have a meeting up north today, and have been trying to get all of our gear back from all over the world. I talked to James and Chris in the last few days either by phone or via text, and we are going to start organizing the studio after the weekend. This means that we will have a rehearsal place, as well as a demo studio for new stuff.
Speaking of new stuff, many of you know I am doing a performance at Guitar Center July 10th, and that Megadeth is doing a performance coming up this month in Anaheim for Affliction and their Mixed Martial Arts event. I have gotten a really obvious request for a song for the performance that I haven't played in over ten years, and I am not sure that I even remember it, but if I can still sing that high and it sounds good, there is a chance that we will be playing something from KIMB.
God, I am reeling from the last 16 months of touring, the victories, and even more victories, and only once in a great while were there ever problems, but even still we tried to put everything else in the world on the shelf for the 90 minutes that we would play each night. (more tomorrow)
Love and Bruises
Dave
