in my journey as a rap artist ive learned alot of things. one of the first things that comes to mind is all the hate, unfortunatly. why is that? at the surface at least, most of my artistic peers give me props for the small things i have accomplished. but beneath the surf, i smell the estrogen on some people. sometimes its a bit disturbing. im the type o dude that wants all those around me to achieve success and self actualization. as an avid hip hop listener and music making crackhead, i have no time or mental space and energy to project any gelousy. man... recently ive been disgusted by some of my so called friends. why dont they wish me the best, as i do them from the heart.
lately however, ive had the privelage of working with people i consider great entrepreneurs. i think Nick Jackelson is the future of hip hop. his beats are only rivaled by DJ premier and the Rza in my mind. and i guess because he sees my skills, he has taken me under his wing. that kind of outreach is very rare these days, because everyone usually is trying to see what they can get out of you. but its not like that with Tha Freakshow, these ninjas are true hip hop students. the music we're making is going to change the rap game and make a big impact on music.
recently i got to make a song with Mike Swift. that was a big deal to me. if you look him up you'l see why. ive never seen someone with that kind of tenacity on the quest to conquer this music. he really took me back to the times when i believed in christianity emphatically. i used to visit prisons, hospitals and preach on buses and trains. im not ashamed of telling that story because im not and have never been a fake thug rapper. and i've always been passionate about everything i do. the only reason im comin into the underground scene hard now and not a couple years ago is because i was close to wifin this shorty up not too long ago. thank god it didnt work out. "its funny how life works", you hear people say that and think its not real, but it is.
for 4 years now ive been working behind the scenes in radio. learning ALOT. alot about people, business, music business, writing, and even song structure as a ghost writer and jingle maker. im about to move on to other ventures as i start to wrap up this media degree and get into learning audio engineering for my music. but besides the mediocre money ive made and invested most of in music and weed, one of the biggest things i got out of the experience is this lesson; people can be some shady fucked up characters. shit, i even saw myself developing some bad habits that i had to put a stop to immediatly. i wasnt raised to be a deceitful person. shit, i barely been raised. people dont even know when they look at me. im all self made. my whole education and work experience, most of the money ive ever had, my equipment, my clothes, my persona, my rap skills... ive compounded these things off the sweat of my brow. learning from my struggling mother... and from listenin to illmatic 50 million times over and over and over and over and over... learning from the emptiness that my pop's absence left, bein a first generation american with no doe in my family. its made me strong and wise. fuck it yo, i wouldnt trade it. those nights when i was a janitor from midnight to 8 am... memorizing verses so i could kill it that sunday at E.O.W. open mic. tryina kill that emcee challenge.. those are the things that forge you as an artist.
yo my boys from the hood hood. even though sometimes they take on an elitist kind of attitude with people that dont live on that exact block, sometimes they the only ones that show me love. besides my Freaky squad of course... but its like... you gotta pay dues. everybody gotta pay dues. and what dues you pay lays the path
im a head case... for real. there are things in my childhood memories i might take to the grave with me. unless i go back to therapy n shit. im writing this partly to connect with whoever is out there listening to my music. even if you dont comment on this entry, i know people are listening because of the comments i get on my page, emails, and phone calls. people are feeling the spirit of my music because its really good and its genuine. i can at least say that for myself. nomatter how much envy and obsticles there is... i expressed myself yo

this entry is partly a release though. i feel like i need to move away from alot of people, and just stick to myself, my music, my fans, and my real artistic counterparts. the hardships are too real for me to hang around muthafuckas that show one face and open the mouth of another behind my back. i cant take it no more. and i realize this more and more especially in the last week in which i have achieved a level of sobriety i haven't had in a long time. spending time with alcoholics and getting smashed taught me that i am not an alcoholic. i sure do love smoking marijuana though. im not gonna lie. i wish i could smoke that shit aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day long with no reprecussions. but you know, it slows you down pretty significantly. anywiz..
recently ive been listening to Cage's Movies for the Blind... Common's Finding Forever and Lapiz Conciente, a sick ass spanish rapper. i'm so inspired. when my album "Tha Moon Cycle" drops Fall 2009... people's necks are gonna crack. i cant wait to see how people react. its just so damn good so far, and im a self punishing critic. my last shrink told me to stop "wipping" myself in order to get shit done. this album is gonna blow you all away! im very excited about it. fuck it yo i know someone is gonna be proud of me. and when i throw that spanish album up on discmakers after that its seriously gonna be a wrap. when i graduate engineering school April 2009, im gonna go back to Dominican Republic and spread that sound. i know i got listeners out there just waiting for me. i know hip hop ears are thirsty for something more.
