My Day in Court
Category: Life

My Day in Court

Having been born to a God fearing Christian Mother,

naturally I was raised to go to Church on Sunday,

pray and ask God to bless food before eating it,

and all the other training that Christian Mothers do.

I was taught all the basics such as right from wrong,

truth, honesty, respect, and that God is always watching.

As I advanced through the years,

it saddens me now to admit,

I strayed away more than once.

Each time I made that stupid mistake,

God welcomed me back with open arms,

and forgave me of everything I asked him to.

He is very forgiving, when you ask, and repent.

A few short years ago I felt my life was about finished.

I came to my senses and I realized I was in a strange place.

It looked like a hall way in a court house.

Both sides were lined with benches.

There were many people waiting.

As I looked around surveying the situation,

a gentleman came out one of the

double doors and called my name,

and I was ushered into a court room,

and led to a seat at the defendants table.

A long haired man was seated at the defendants table,

but he didn't even turn and look my way.

There was a man at the other table dressed in a very expensive suit

with his hair slicked down and looking quite debonair.

He was looking at me, and thumbing through a stack of papers.

In a few minutes the judge came in.

He was an older gentleman wearing a flowing robe

that was more beautiful than anything I had ever seen.

The robe was of a material unfamiliar to me.

I didn't recognize it at all.

I looked around but I saw no one in the room that I knew.

I didn't remember having done anything recently that

would bring me to court, it must have been in years gone by.

I had been doing my best to live right.

I really didn't know why I was there.

The judge said, "let us begin".

The debonair looking fellow stood up,

addressing the judge, he began by stating,

"Judge this one is mine,

he has belonged to me since he was a tiny boy.

I led him through many lessons and

worked with him before he could even talk".

"Before he could talk, I taught him,

if something didn't go as he wanted,

he must scream and keep everyone in the house awake.

He would scream for something to eat,

and then spit it out when it was given to him."

"As he grew older he would hit his brother,

and tell his mom his brother hit him first.

He lied about breaking a dish, saying his sister did it".

"When he started to school,

he used language only construction workers and sailors use,

he cheated on his papers, he pulled the girl's hair, blamed others.

He......."

My attorney stood to his feet saying in a sweet kind voice,

"I object, he wasn't even to the age of accountability".

The judge said "objection sustained".

My attorney again sat very quietly, looking directly at the judge.

The prosecuting attorney began to get angry

and his looks started changing dramatically.

He looked old and wrinkled, with red eyes, and started screaming.

"He belongs in hell, I have pages of charges.

Sins this guy has done and no one can prove otherwise",

and he started to read all the charges.

I knew then this man was *satan,

and he looked every bit of the part.

"He has stolen from others.

He has cheated other people of rightful things.

He has been drunk on many occasions.

He has lied, and lied again.

He has gone with out helping others in need.

He has used people for what he could

get out of them, then cast them off.

He has under paid them for the work they were doing.

He has broken every speed law in the land.

He hasn't always been forthright with his wife.

Do I even need to finish this list,

I have pages and pages?

He belongs in HELL NOW!"

I was wishing he would stop, sit down and shut up.

I began to think of all the things I had done.

I was feeling very heavy with a mountain of guilt.

Tears were not dripping, they were flowing down my cheeks,

soaking my clothes as all the things were brought up.

Things I had long forgotten,

hinges I had thought were well hid.

The judge looked at me and asked me to stand.

He asked, "how do you plead"?

All I could say was "guilty your honor".

I felt then, I was doomed.

As I looked around for help

my attorney had risen to his feet

and asked may I approach the bench.

Satan objected snarling,

"He is guilty, HE BELONGS IN HELL!"

As my attorney started toward the bench

I got my first good look at him,

it was our blessed Savior Jesus Christ,

and I recognized him then.

When he approached the bench,

I heard him say "Father".

When I heard his sweet kind voice,

I could only hope I had remembered

to ask forgiveness for all my transgressions.

I instantly also knew why I

did not recognize the fabric of the judge's robe,

It was a covering of pure unconditional love,

and of course, I didn't recognize him.

I had not been privileged to see him before.

I did recognize Jesus from pictures I had seen,

and the descriptions I had been given.

Jesus was my defense attorney.

I sat very quietly as he spoke.

He simply said "Father, he is mine."

Then Jesus turned to face the court room and said,

"satan was correct with every allegation read before this court,

and actually there were many more. I will not deny any of it,

as this man did not deny any of it."

"Yes, he has sinned, and death is surly the wages of sin,

and this sinner as others deserve to be punished",

saying however, as he turned to the bench.

"Father, I died on the cross so that this man might have

eternal life if he accepted me as his Lord and Savior.

He has done so, and that makes him mine".

Jesus then continued,

"His name is written in the lamb's book of life

and no one can take him from me.

This man is to be given mercy, not justice.

Satan should understand that by now."

Jesus again looked to his Father and said,

"There is nothing more to be done, I have done it all"

The judge, our Father, said,

"Neither do I condemn thee,

Go and sin no more!

CASE DISMISSED!"

As I started to leave the court room, I heard satan scream,

"I WILL GET THE NEXT ONE, YOU JUST WAIT AND SEE!"

As I walked out the door with Jesus arm in arm, he said,

"Bob you need return, the time is neigh,

there is much to be done,

many are in need, do as you can".

I was enjoying the warmth of our Savior, I suddenly awoke.

It had been only a dream; however to me it was reality,

and I have dedicated the rest of my time here on earth,

to doing what every I can for others until he calls us home.

If Satan ever bothers me again,

I will simply sue him!

With the tools I'll use, I can not lose.

My brother as my attorney,

my Daddy the judge,

How could I lose?

The Silversmith
Category: Life

MALACHI 3:3 SAYS:

"He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study

and they wondered what this statement meant

about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver

and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and

made an appointment to watch him at work.

She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest

beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith,

he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.

He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver

in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest

as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot;

then she thought again about the verse that says:

"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true

that he had to sit there in front of the fire

the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes,

he not only had to sit there holding the silver,

but he had to keep his eyes on the silver

the entire time it was in the fire.

If the silver was left a moment too long

in the flames,
