Keys to the studio
Current mood: melancholy
Today, one month after Dad's passing, and one week after releasing the space his studio called home for many years back to the landlord, I took the studio's keys off of my keyring. It only took me a week to do that.

My dad, Mike Scott
Current mood: sad
My sister Liz wrote this. I can't put down the words that are in my heart right now, but she was able to do it for the both of us. I of course have taken a bit of creative license, what we feel is the same. I see so much of him in her and as much as I miss him terribly, I cherish her just as much. I couldn't have gone through this without her.
Mike
Friends,
I just wanted to let you know that my incredible, wonderful, talented, brilliant and superbrave father passed away Saturday morning, June 7th, in Houston.
Mike Belile (aka Mike Scott, his radio personality name) born Dec 19, 1938 in New Iberia Louisiana died Jun 7, 2008 in Houston Texas
Texas Radio and Broadcasting Hall of Famer Billboard Magazine Top DJ Talent 1971, 1972 National (Country Music, Station WDEE in Detroit) Top voice talent in the region Owner, Mike Scott Recording and Duplicating Musician, Actor, Radio Personality, Producer, Man Ahead of His Time.
I am so saddened by this loss. I was privileged to spend his last days with him, awful and remarkable as they were. He fought until the bitter end. I loved him in life and love him in death. I see so much of him in his little grandson, my nephew Bodhi.
My father profoundly influenced my life. He was unconventional, musical, opinionated, creative, passionate, and a real romantic at heart. I hope to write him a worthy obituary. As I sort through his music collection, look at photographs, watch the movies he was in, and listen to the recordings he made of his radio work, I am so grateful he left these parts of himself behind.

You with your neck and me with my lion-clawed face
Current mood: working
You with your neck and me with my lion-clawed face -- I can see us walking down the street together.
Get some warrior, you bunch of fainting blossoms. Many have died, trying to enter the Forest of Wayreth. Index mov bx, Sw1. You just smell the books. A momentary hush passed over the group of people round the chairs as they saw the black overalls of an Inner Party member approaching. Converts the value of a Unicode character to its lowercase equivalent. There was certainly no Cjelli, or anything like it. To Albert's secret amazement, the man managed to get to his feet and draw himself up as regally as he could. With the functional name taken out of the running, suggestions started coming from all quarters to use the Delphi codename as the product name. When using classes from an extension DLL either yours or others things must be imported. Fortran 90 is still relatively new and as a result, it is less portable than a f77 code because of the lack of f90 compiler (say, on some workstations). Converts the value of the specified 64-bit signed integer to an equivalent 64-bit unsigned integer. Egwene stopped warily, as Beldeine raised reddened eyes to meet hers. More than anything else, the system had the feel of an old and beautiful tide pool, groomed and tended, shielded from the exciting waves that might upset its bansai plumes. From the road with Powderburn
Current mood: working
Category: Music
My friend Greg is bassist for Austin metal giants, Powderburn. Here is an excerpt from a report from a recent roadtrip they were on; I hope the mental image it conjurs up in your head is as funny as the one in mine. "Friday we had a gig at some skatepark in Beaumont where we had to open for 3 of the most emo bands I've ever seen. We terrified the 20 or so obviously gay kids at the show and were on the road to the Casino in Lake Charles by 10." That's freakin' AWESOME. The rest of the trip was even more entertaining with tales of canceled gigs, beer, beachhouses, beer, indecent proposals from a self professed 23 year billionaire with 3 kids that would make a sailor blush, beer, beer, and beer. How rock-n-roll is THAT?!?

Pox on, pox off
Current mood: amused
Category: Friends
It's been a couple of hours since my "a pox upon them" blog; since then I've realized this: why should that matter to me? Good God man, grow a pair.
So....pox off.

It's Blog!/dead presidents
Current mood: good
Category: Blogging
I've seen alot of blogs where people go into great detail about what little regard they have for writing blogs, reading blogs, snickering at the word "blog". I have no real opinion on them. However, I am a fairly good typist, and it's a shame to waste such dexterity. Be sure to check out future blogs concerning how the quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog.
Gerald Ford just died. I'm sure he was a good man, save the light treason of pardoning Nixon. That's gotta get him an eon or two in pugatory, right? Unless he gets some kind of reprieve....
