Concerning Artists: Oppose Orphan Work Bill
Hi Everyone, I'm pleading for your support and help on this matter as it affects my professional means of work on a daily basis as well as MOST of YOU. I work as a freelance concept artist and illustrator, if this bill is passed it will crush any kind of rights we have as artists, greatly affecting how we support ourselves financially. If this bill is passed, this would be the equivalent to modifying laws that protect people from burglars breaking and entering their homes. It would essentially be the same as walking into an open door, taking everything and anything you wish and not being held liable by the law to be persecuted, sued and thrown in jail. It would basically be telling a thief that he should feel free to steal so long as no one is home to claim their property.
I live in Colonia, NJ and I've been freelancing as an artist for 5 years now and if this bill is passed it will make it very hard to continue to work this way, considering the lack of rights and protection I'll have for my work being shown online. Whether you work Freelance or Full Time, don't take this lightly. This is an extremely serious and important issue.
Copied from www.ConceptArt.org IMPORTANT MATTER FOR ARTISTS - we must take action today! Do not lose ownership of your art! .................................................UPDATE......................................................... H.R. 5889 unanimously sailed through the House IP Subcommittee yesterday.
It now goes onto the House Judiciary Committee - and thats who you need to now contact, as soon as possible!
Below is the link.

The text below will be self-explanatory. There is an important issue facing us as artists, related to the copyrights of our works, which corporations wish to control and take at our expense, We must put a stop to this immediately unless you wish to see others owning and plagiarizing your art.
This is too important to ignore please participate and forward to your others. http://www.sellyourtvconceptnow.com/orphan/orphan_works_information.mp3
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=609199 http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=121132 House version: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-5889
Senate version: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s110-2913
Congress is rushing these bills through to a floor vote. The House will start marking up their version of the bill at 2:00 today; the Senate will do so tomorrow. To try to stop this bill, we first need to slow down the race to get it passed.
FROM THE ILLUSTRATORS' PARTNERSHIP
Take Action: Don't Let Congress Orphan Our Work We've set up an online site for visual artists to e-mail their Senators and Representatives with one click. This site is open to professional artists, photographers and any member of the image-making public. We've provided sample letters from individuals representing different sectors of the visual arts. If you're opposed to the Orphan Works act, this site is yours to use.
For international artists and our colleagues overseas, we've provided a special link, with a sample letter and instructions as to whom to write. 2 minutes is all it takes to write Congress and protect your copyright: http://capwiz.com/illustratorspartnership/home/
Also, please post a bulletin of your own, as well as a blog and send e-mails and foreward this information to anyone and everyone you know who is an artist of any kind. Send this to your relatives and friends as well, even if they're not an artist.

Creating Mailing List - Want to be Added?

Hi Guys, PRINTS & BOOK PROJECTS Just a quick note: I'll be creating a mailing list to compile for future projects such as Books, Prints etc. So I figured I'd send this out now to start building a list of people interested.
If you'd like to be added to a mailing list to be notified when Prints are available in the near future, or when a possible book may be made available let me know. Just reply, send a message and Include your current E-mail Address.
If you want you can also include some other Info: Name: E-mail Address: and Which piece of Work you'd like to see made as a Print (Certain Sketches may be made available, some Paintings may not be available due to Copyright Holder) Just provide a link or if there is a title to the piece just label the title in your message as well. You can check most images in my photo albums, or on my website:

Corel Painter X
Current mood: excited
I was fortunate enough to have been contacted by Corel and the team behind the program Painter inviting me to submit work for their latest version. I wish I had more work to send them but at least all 5 images were accepted into the welcome book which made me extremely happy. This is what I was told, "
Within Painter's Welcome Book (comes up when you launch Painter) there are five of your images included (two in the gallery spread and three in the glory images [first and third tabs]) which are selected randomly each time you select the 'page'.
I'm waiting for my free special package of Corel Painter X to show up so I can start playing and have some fun. I've heard the program runs much quicker with large canvas and large brush sizes compared to the previous version one the small additions but something that will make the Painter experience a thousand times better in my opinion.
You can test out a trial version for free or Buy the program if you like it.
Check it out here: Corel Painter X
