The mosquitoes are coming back, so...
Current mood: grateful
Category: Life

Although I'm posting on this old account's blog again, I encourage everyone to move over to my new blog:

And feel free to add me as a friend there too, sorry for the confusion and I hope everyone has a really Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Is hasn't been raining much here, so it's not that bad yet, but for those that have had a lot of rain and those that will get lots of rain, here's a repost of what to do about fire ants and mosquitoes, as well as pimples, athlete's foot, etc...

Bug Problems?

Ants and Mosquitos are back in full force around here, so going to write today about a few of the things we do to deal with them...

At our zoo we have a way to treat Ant mounds that works for 2-3 months (about as long as anything at the store lasts around here, we get a bowl of cigarette butts and pour a can or two (depending on the size of the bowl) of cola on the butts and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then strain the liquid into another bowl and sprinkle the solution onto the mounds, the sugar in the cola attracts the Ants to the solution and the combintion of caffeine and nicotine (note: if anyone is about to reply with info about the dangers of smoking, coffee, etc... please first remember that the biggest feature of this blog is it's uniqueness, thanks!) kills the Ants...

Now for Mosquitos, we use a lot of Cedar Mulch, as a part of my relandscaping project, I purposely have places set up in the front and the back yard where we can neatly dump a lot of it, there are times that the Mosqitos are driving the folks here in Angleton totally nuts and I won't even know there are any unless I leave our zoo, but when you buy it, just make sure it's fresh Cedar Mulch, because if it's last year's that the store still has, it doesn't work as well or last as long...

But lets say you still get bit by Ants or Mosquitos, well, we keep enough tubes of Hemmorhoid Cream around so one is always handy when we need one, a little dab of it takes care of our Mosquito bites and the times I've stepped on an ant mound and they are crawling all over a foot and/or leg, I'll brush them off and rub it liberally on the area they bit and 30 minutes later won't be able to tell that I have been bitten...

You can use the Hemorhoid Ointment too, but it's real oily and you can now get the generic version of the cream at all of the chain stores that sell generic versions of these types of products, so we get the cream, and besides getting rid of pimples (I believe the only reason teenagers have pimples is the stigma attached to Hemmorhoid Cream), we use it for athletes foot too and it's worked for the two legged males with that itching that men are known to sometimes have...

And here is something else I discovered, although they are not bugs, cats tend to bug their owners at times, and if you work at home and have cats that bother you while you are working in your office, I bought some toilet seat covers and placed them where they are known to nap in the office and they hardly bother me at all now...

I hope that everyone has a really Terrific Weekend, take care and God Bless....Mikey

Things to do with "THE BOX" other than think outside of it...
Current mood: grateful
Category: Life

Just a reminder that if you know of a church youth group or youth organization that would like to hold bingo games, with white elephant gifts for prizes in assisted living centers, you can go to the helping page (1st article) in this blog's archives for info on how they can get a bingo cage kit...

Welcome to all the new readers! For your benefit I'm posting this oldie but goodie once again...

Would also like to mention that this post has it's own page at:

I hope everyone is having a really Stupendous Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Do you get annoyed by all the experts and/or commercials telling you about how you should be thinking outside of "THE BOX?" Well, when BarbedWire Bob & I were going to Houston back in February to get some Miso (see 2/5/2006 post in the blog's archives), we started coming up with ideas for things to do to "THE BOX" other than think outside of it, resulting in...

Things to do with "THE BOX" other than think outside of it...

As Demonstrated by our two legged critter family and friends...
(along with Sissy, when she feels like it)

I would say "please don't do this at home," but since that would be hypocritical because, well, we did it at home, please be careful if you try something like this...

Recap of Episodes 1-8

In our 1st episode, the two legged critters in our zoo demonstrated how to poke "THE BOX" with the pokers we use when picking up trash in the Texas Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program...

In Episode Two, they demonstrated how to smash "THE BOX" with a cinder block...

In our 3rd episode, they demonstrated how to beat "THE BOX" with baseball bats...

In Episode Four, they demonstrated how to take the stuffing out of "THE BOX" and set "THE BOX" on fire...

In our fifth episode, I gave the other two legged critters in our zoo a break and
personally demonstrated how to place "THE BOX" in a pickle jar...

And since the photo of "THE BOX" at the end of Episode 5 was not very clear, Henry (introduced as my new Promotions Assistant) had graciously vollunteered to have his photo taken with "THE BOX" in it's current state at the time...

For Episode Six, Debbie had "THE BOX" on her bedside table...

Then during our 7th Episode, Henry had
"THE BOX" keep him company while I picked up 16 bags of trash (along with the usual assorted debris) on April 1 & 2, 2006, during the Great Texas Trash Off, part of MikeyWear's participation in the Texas Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program...

Then in Episode Eight, with the help of Henry, Seth and Caleb's Great Grandma Virginia hides an Easter Egg on top of "THE BOX" as she prepares an Easter Egg Hunt for them and Amy...

So what is next for "THE BOX?" Well...

To Be Continued...

Here's a new recipe from out of the bag that "Chickasha Oklahoma Legend" Grandmother Vera gave Dad before she passed away...

Caramel Pie

2 cups sugar - 2 cups milk
2 tbs all purpose flour
5 egg yolks, reserve egg whites
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 baked (9 inch) pie crusts

Carmelize 1 cup sugar in a heavy iron skillet. Add milk and stir until carmel is melted.

In another bowl, combine remaining sugar, flour, egg yolks, and vanilla. Gradually stir egg mixture into milk mixture in skillet. Cook until thick, stirring to keep from burning. Pour into pie shells and top with meringue.

Meringue

5 egg whites
1 tbs sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Beat egg whites until foamy. Beat in sugar, one tablespoon at a time. Continue beating until stiff and glossy. Add vanilla. Spead over pie filling. Seal to edge of crust. Bake at 375 degrees 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly brown on top...

I hope that eveyone has a really Super Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Since there are probably some folks who have been looking at iamnotagenious.com and are now checking this blog out to find why I am doing things like sticking out my tongue and dressing up as a really weird clown, here’s a repost of what I wrote here that should shed a little light on the matter...

About The Legend Deal

Since MikeyWear.Com started, I have believed (and still do believe!) that it will become a Pop Culture Phenomenon and a few months back realized that it becoming that big would make me a Pop Culture Icon...

And you know, I just cannot allow that to happen!!!

So since then, I have been putting a lot of time and energy to avoid "Icon" status by doing all I can to becoming a "Legend" instead...

Rest assured, every time I refer to myself as a "Pop Culture Legend In The Making" or a "Great Texas Legend In The Making" or simply a "Legend In The Making," a bunch of giggling is going along with it, and I mean a bunch of giggling...

Meanwhile, to be serious for a short very moment, I have discovered that with MikeyWear.Com I have the opportunity to make a difference and I will be doing my best to take advantage of that opportunity...

Do I have political aspirations? Well, after watching the Circus in the US House when they had their Friday Night non-binding vote on the immediate pullout of the troops in Iraq on CSPAN about a month ago, I don’t see how anyone could make a difference in politics (except maybe, Kinky Friedman, really like his proposal for "No Teacher Left Behind" legislation, will carefully study his proposal, as well as the rest of his campaign platform, before the March Primaries), and if I want to clown around, well...

I already am...

So anyway, if anyone actually takes this legend thing seriously, please do not be blaming me, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Ps: Regarding whether I actually become some sort of legend or not, well, now really, WHO CARES??? I sure don’t!

So soon?

It has been brought to my attention that there are already folks saying and writing things about me that are not that nice, so...

If anyone hears or reads stuff about me that is not that nice, there are really only four options that they have...

Option A: Believe what they are told...

Option B: Not believe what they are told...

Option C: Wait and see if I really am going to do what I say I am going to do...

Option D: Not care...

They can pick any of the options, can also change their minds any time they want to, and there is no need for them to tell me which option they choose or change to...

If anyone decides to choose Option A and doesnt think they are going to change their minds, I would like to leave one last thought with them...

And with that out of the way, I am going to continue to do what I am doing, take care, God Bless, and have a Terrific Thursday...Mikey

Three questions about Barack Obama...
Current mood: grateful
Category: News and Politics

I just have three questions about Barack Obama that I would like for his supporters to answer:

  1. What does he stand for?
  2. What has he done?
  3. What will he do as President?

If your answer to the above consists of the words "change", "unite" or "inspire", your answer doesn’t count. I’ve heard all of that before. Those words have no meaning unless you include with them something specific. So please, be specific.

If you cannot answer at least 2 of those questions with something specific, either off the top of your head or after doing a little research, I think it’s time to take a serious look at exactly why you are supporting this candidate.

I hope that eveyone has a really Super Wonderful Week, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
