ARC Therapy (Analysis and Re-education of the cells)
Current mood: awake
Source : http://www.arctherapy.com/
What is ARC?
ARC (Analysis and Re-education of the Cells) is a holistic therapy based on the memory of the cells. It aims at identifying the sources of the successive deteriorations that have led to the loss of one's sense of well being or to an illness. A sense of not feeling well or an illness is only the tip of the iceberg. Treating the symptoms is often necessary but not knowing and treating the root cause may result in a recurrence or a shifting of the symptoms.
Our cells remember our personal history, our happy and sad or tragic moments. The memories of these moments are imprinted on the body as well as the mind. The stronger the emotions at the time of the illness or trauma, the stronger the imprint on the body; especially if those emotions have not been dealt with at the time.
These negative memories, whether ours or inherited from the generations before us, leave their mark ..s. They eventually result in inappropriate automatic responses to certain situations (similar to the original event or illness for instance). This erroneous information imprinted on the cells eventually affects our energy or 'lifeforce'.
Our lifeforce, also known as Qi or Prana, plays a fundamental role in our health and well being and when affected, its flow becomes blocked. At least one energy blockage is at the origin of every illness or lack of well being. A disruption in the flow of energy will also affect organs as, like the lifeforce, they too function on specific frequencies. If the cells of an organ become affected as the result of a trauma for example, its frequency becomes modified. This modification results in a disruption of the energy, causing blockages and possibly illness. Furthermore, the affected organ will gradually cause general dysfunction as other organs will have to compensate for the 'faulty' one on an energetic level.
By positioning detection filters on different parts of the patient's body, according to a very precise method, and feeling a pulse using the VAS technique, a practitioner interrogates the body. This method allows blockages to be identified at all levels (physical, emotional, mental and subconscious). The aim is to identify the root cause of the illness or lack of well being. Tuning forks are then used in order to correct the frequencies and enable a re-harmonization of the energy. The treatment is boosted by natural remedies and based on the findings, the practitioner will make recommendations to aid the healing process.
'Analysis and Re-education of the Cells' therapy is based on Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine and auriculomedicine (discovered and developed by Dr Nogier from 1950)
Who can benefit from ARC?
Anyone, regardless of age, who wishes to understand the reasons for their illness and/or regain a sense of well-being.
ARC has helped many people with a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:
- Agoraphobia
- Breathing disorders
- Cancer
- Chronic fatigue
- Depression
- Digestive problems
- Emotional problems
- Headaches and migraines
- Hormonal imbalance
- Infertility
- Insomnia
- Multiple sclerosis
- Stress related conditions
- A general lack of well being but without a diagnosis.
Many have overcome their disease by understanding why they had become ill. Those patients have received guidance in healing themselves by resolving or coming to terms with the origin of their troubles – rather than fighting the disease.
ARC is also helpful if no one can give you a diagnosis of what is troubling you.
The Consultation A consultation initially consists of detecting the causes that have led to one's troubles, and identifying the possible dysfunctional organs. This is done using the VAS technique and detection filters which are positioned on various parts of the body according to a very precise protocol. All findings during the investigation are thoroughly explained to the patient. Symbolism of organs and diseases are also used to aid verbalisation.
The patient is then treated, using tuning forks to correct the cells' pathological information. This process allows a release of blockages and a re-harmonization of the patient's energy.
Finally, the therapist will recommend natural remedies (homoeopathy, floral or mineral elixirs) to complement the treatment. The VAS technique is used to find the most suited remedy which will further aid the healing process. Depending upon the findings from the detection phase, the therapist will also recommend a course of action (changes of lifestyle, diet, etc.) and may direct the patient toward other forms of support therapy.
The therapy is non-invasive and painless. Patients are fully dressed during the treatment.
A consultation lasts approximately one and a half hours. Several treatments are usually necessary. Sessions are held in south west London. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
History of ARC
ARC was developed over 20 years ago by Dr Michel Larroche. A general practitioner at the time, he was confronted daily with patients who were being failed by conventional medicine. These patients complained of 'not feeling well' and had been denied a diagnosis because no apparent illness had been found. Increasingly frustrated with being unable to help them, Larroche started researching a more global 'body-mind-environment' approach, the premise of ARC, Analysis and Re-education of the Cells, as explained in his book "My cells remember.... "(1).
The first ARC school opened in 1996 in Switzerland. By popular demand, other schools soon opened in Belgium; then France.
There are currently more than 150 practitioners around the world.
(1). The book is available in French only.
Case studies Insomnia
Evelyn, 64, had been suffering from insomnia her whole life. After a course of six ARC treatments over several months, Evelyn began to have full nights' sleep. A traumatic event Evelyn endured at the age of 7 caused a major emotional blockage and was found to be the cause of her insomnia. The blockage had had various repercussions on her physical health, mainly the endocrine system. The blockage was lifted gradually with each treatment and eventually eliminated. Homoeopathic remedies complemented each treatment. Evelyn's general health improved and she felt more balanced emotionally. Two years on, Evelyn still enjoys a good night's sleep. Periods of stress occasionally affect her sleep pattern but this is the exception rather than the rule.
Unexplained infertility
After 7 years of trying to conceive naturally (no medical problem explaining her infertility could be diagnosed), Ann and her husband decided to embark upon IVF treatment. However, during the initial phase, Ann, aged 39, stopped menstruating. Initial ARC treatments reversed the onset of menopause and helped to relieve the stress that was affecting both Ann's emotional and physical health. A cranial blockage was also detected for which Ann received osteopathic treatment. Those barriers lifted, a deep-rooted, subconscious blockage appeared to be the possible cause of Ann's problem. This memory affecting her was 'inherited' from previous generations, from her mother's side specifically. A short course of transgenerational therapy was recommended to Ann. Two months later, she conceived and enjoyed a normal pregnancy.
Natural Remedies Natural remedies are usually recommended to the patient in support of the treatment. Homoeopathy, floral or mineral elixirs are used. Again, using detection filters, the practitioner takes the patient's pulse (VAS technique) in order to identify the remedy(ies). This method eliminates the risk of error and ensures that the patient receives the natural remedy that will best complement the treatment.
Homoeopathy
This holistic approach is based on the principle that "like cures like". The term homoeopathy comes from the Greek words homeo, meaning similar, and pathos, meaning suffering or disease. It was first described by Hippocrates 2,500 years ago but developed by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700s. At a time when the most common medical treatments were harsh, such as bloodletting, purging, blistering, and the use of sulfur and mercury, Hahnemann was interested in developing a less-threatening approach to medicine. He experimented on himself and volunteers. This led him to consider that a substance may create symptoms that it can also relieve. This concept is called the 'similia principle' or 'like cures like'. Symptoms are part of the body's attempt to heal itself. For example, a fever can develop as a result of an immune response to an infection, or a cough may help to eliminate mucus. Homoeopathic medication will support this self-healing response. Homeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body's own healing power. This stimulus will assist one's own system to clear itself of any expressions of imbalance, be that on a physical, emotional or mental level.
Bach Flower Remedies
The Bach Flower remedies are a system of healing for the negative emotions and attitudes which may cause or interfere with health and happiness. They were discovered by Dr Edward Bach, an eminent physician in the 1930's. His aim was to make treatment of illnesses accessible to everyone by a simple system of natural medicine. He sought for remedies in the plant world which would restore vitality to the sick and ailing, so that sufferers would be able to overcome their anger, fear, or depression, and in that manner assist in their own healing. The remedy is prescribed according to the sufferer's state of mind rather than physical complaints as an unharmonious state of mind does not only hinder the recovery of health but is often the cause of the illness.
Biocrystalline Solutions
Biocrystalline Solutions are mineral elixirs. They are a complimentary form of treatment which redresses or rectifies psychological imbalances thus improving the physiological condition as a result. Since ancient times, man has used the vibrational frequency of gemstones in order to evolve, for self-improvement or self-healing. One explanation for this is that stones hold man's most ancient memory. The natural formation of precious and semi-precious gems (as excavated) is caused by the pressurized, intense heat and gaseous environment at the earth's core. A gemstone which has existed for millions of years only ceases to grow when it is extracted from its outer casting. Thus crystalline structures whilst embodying geological changes, are organic mineral formations with a life and chemistry's energy of their own.
There is a notion of identity surrounding crystals. Each type of crystal or semi-precious stone inherently has a different cellular structure which can have a beneficial impact on the human cellular system. The Biocrystalline Solutions rehabilitate cellular memory registered in one's biological system possibly since birth or even before. As an essence resonates with a particular cellular memory, it enables a person's cellular structure to be put back on its proper axis. Biocrystalline Solutions effectively represent the many emotional or psychological qualities experienced by human beings.
Detection Filters Almost all detection filters used correspond to a very specific problem a person may have. The practitioner takes the pulse of the patient and following a precise protocol, scans these filters on the patient's body. If the person has a problem which corresponds to the filter used, the filter will enter in resonance with the disturbance in the electromagnetic field caused by the patient's condition. This will be known to the practitioner by a change in the pulse (this is known as Nogier's pulse or VAS: vascular autonomic signal). This method allows the practitioner to determine the root cause of a problem, either unknown to the patient or unsuspected as being at the origin of the trouble. Over 400 filters can be used.
Tuning Forks A tuning fork is a precision-made instrument designed to produce a single frequency. It is used in medicine, music and science for a variety of applications. The entire energy system as well as each organ within each system (respiratory, digestive, endocrine, etc.) function on specific frequencies. When the frequency of an organ is altered as the result of a trauma or illness, it leads to an energy blockage and can cause the organ to dysfunction. Using the tuning fork corresponding to an organ's specific frequency will help to release an energy blockage and stimulate healing of the organ. The wide range of frequencies used in Analysis and Re-education of the Cells work at all levels of the organism and the entire energy system including chakras and meridians.
VAS technique Dr. Paul Nogier was a French neurologist who, after spending several years in China learning traditional Chinese acupuncture, discovered the pulse technique now called the VAS(Vascular Autonomic Signal). In general terms, the VAS is an instantaneous tonal change in the walls of the arterial system in response to a signal that current scientific instrumentation has been unable to detect thus far. It possibly is an electromagnetic stimulus. However, the Nogier pulse involves the autonomic system (sympathetic and parasympathetic). Modification of the VAS is mediated by the unconscious autonomic nervous system and corresponds to a neurological reflex.
Nogier discovered that the arterial system displays such specific physical reaction when objects (such as food, herbs or medicine) were present in the electromagnetic fields near to the periphery of the body without touching it. This physical reaction will be felt by an ARC practitioner when positioning various detection filters within a patient's electromagnetic field, thus enabling the practitioner to identify the cause(s) of one's trouble.

HELP YOUR BODY- Infos on PH Balance- Alkaline/Acid Foods...
Current mood: grateful
Category: Life
(( Many THANKS to JOE FROM HEALTHFULLY ORGANIC MARKET )).
Human blood pH should be slightly alkaline ( 7.35 - 7.45 ). A pH of 7.0 is neutral. A pH below 7.0 is acidic. A pH above 7.0 is alkaline. An acidic pH can occur from, an acid forming diet, emotional stress, toxic overload, and/or immune reactions or any process that deprives the cells of oxygen and other nutrients. The body will try to compensate for acidic pH by using alkaline minerals. If the diet does not contain enough minerals to compensate, a build up of acids in the cells will occur.
An acidic balance will: decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease it's ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it's ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue and illness.
The reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh vegetables.
Additionally, we eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like coffee and soft drinks.
We use too many drugs, which are acid forming; and, we use artificial chemical sweetners like NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet 'N Low, Equal, or Aspartame, which are poison, and, extremely acid forming.
One of the best things we can do to correct an overly acid body is to clean up the diet and lifestyle.
To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods & 40% acid forming foods.
To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods & 20% acid forming foods.

TROPHOLOGY - THE SCIENCE OF FOOD COMBINING
Trophology introduction
"Compared to Taoist concepts of balance, the Western notion of a 'balanced diet' is simplistic and superficial.
Western physicians advise everyone to take 'a little of everything at every meal', jumbling together such disparate ingredients as meat, milk, starch, fat and sugar.
Such indiscriminate consumption of food is no different than pouring a combination of gas, oil, alcohol and sugar into the gas tank of your car. These blends will not burn efficiently, will provide little power and will quickly clog up the engine so badly that the entire system grinds to a halt.
The following advice given to the founding Emperor of the Ming Dynasty on the occasion of the authors 100th birthday, clearly reflects the fact that the ancient Chinese were well aware of the importance of the science of food combining.
'Food and drink are relied upon to nurture life. But if one does not know that the nature of substances may be opposed to each other, and one consumes them altogether indiscriminately, the vital organs will be thrown out of harmony and disastrous consequences will soon arise. Therefore, those who wish to nurture their lives must carefully avoid doing such damage to themselves.'
[Chia Ming, Essential Knowledge for Eating and Drinking, 1368 AD].
In plain English, the Yin and Yang of diet boils down to 'Trophology', a term which you and no doubt your doctor, have probably never heard before.
Modern medical training in the West, especially in America, is notoriously deficient in nutritional science, although there are a few enlightened nutritional scientists in America and Europe today who, despite sneers from their peers in the medical establishment, are making great medical strides through the science of Trophology.
The Western scientific equivalent of Yin/Yang balance in food combinations is something we all learned in elementary high school chemistry: acid/alkaline balance, or 'pH'. We all know that if we did add a measure of alkaline to an equal measure of acid, the resulting chemical solution is as neutral as plain water. That's the principle behind reaching for bicarbonate (a strong alkaline) to relieve 'acid indigestion'.
It is an established scientific fact in Western medicine that, in order to initiate efficient digestion of any concentrated animal protein, the stomach must secrete pepsin. But it is also a well-known fact that pepsin can function only in a highly acidic medium, which must be maintained for several hours for complete digestion of proteins.
It is equally a well established fact of science that when we chew a piece of bread or potato or any other carbohydrate/starch, ptyalin and other alkaline juices are immediately secreted into the food by saliva in the mouth. When swallowed, the alkalized starches require an alkaline medium in the stomach in order to complete their digestion.
Anyone should be able to figure out what therefore happens when you ingest protein and starch together. Acid and alkaline juices are secreted simultaneously in response to the incoming protein and starch, promptly neutralizing one another and leaving a weak, watery solution in the stomach that digests neither protein nor starch properly. Instead, the proteins putrefy and the starches ferment owning to the constant presence of bacteria in the digestive tract.
This putrefaction and fermentation are the primary cause of all sorts of digestive distress, including gas, heartburn, cramps, bloating, constipation, foul stools, bleeding, piles, colitis, and so forth.
Many so-called 'allergies' are also the direct result of improper food combinations: the bloodstream picks up the toxins from the putrefied, fermented mess as it passes slowly through the intestines, and these toxins in turn cause rashes, hives, headaches, nausea, and other symptoms commonly branded as 'allergies'.
The same foods that cause allergic reactions when improperly combined often have no ill-side effects whatsoever when consumed according to the rules of Trophology.
The final fact of the matter is this: when you immobilize your stomach and impair digestive functions by consuming foods in indiscriminate combinations, the bacteria in your alimentary canal have a field day. They get all the nutrients and thrive, while you get all the wastes and suffer."
=====
Protein and Starch
"This is the worst possible combination of foods to mix together at a single meal, and yet it is the mainstay of modern Western diets: meat and potatoes, hamburgers and fries, eggs and toast, etc.
When one consumes protein and starch together, the alkaline enzyme ptyalin pours into the food as it's chewed in the mouth.
When the masticated food reaches the stomach, digestion of starch by alkaline enzymes continues unabated, thereby preventing the digestion of protein by pepsin and other acid secretions.
The ever-present bacteria in the stomach are thus permitted to attach the protein and putrefaction commences, rendering nutrients in the protein food largely useless to you and producing toxic wastes and foul gases, including such poisons as indol, skatol, phenol, hydrogen sulphide, phenylpropionic acid, and others.
If that is the case, you may well wonder, then why does the stomach have no trouble handling foods that naturally contain both protein and starch, such as whole grains?
As Dr. Shelton points out, "There is a great difference between the digestion of a food, however complex its composition, and the digestion of a mixture of different foods."
To a single article of food that is a starch-protein combination, the body can easily adjust its juices, both as to strength and timing, to the digestive requirements of the food. But when two foods are eaten with different, even opposite, digestive needs, this precise adjustment of juices to requirements becomes impossible."
THE RULE: Eat concentrated proteins such as meat, fish, eggs and cheese separately from concentrated starches such as bread, potatoes and rice.
For example, eat toast or eggs for breakfast, the hamburger patty or the bun for lunch, meat or potatoes for dinner.
=====
Protein and Protein
"Different proteins have different digestive requirements. For example the strongest enzymatic action on milk occurs during the last hour of digestion, whereas on meat it occurs during the first hour and on eggs somewhere in between.
It is instructive to recall the ancient dietary law which Moses imposed on his people [the Jewish people], forbidding the simultaneous consumption of milk and flesh.
Two similar meats such as beef and lamb, or two types of fish such as salmon and shrimp, are not sufficiently different in nature to cause digestive conflict in the stomach and may be consumed together."
THE RULE: Eat only one major type of protein at a single meal.
Avoid combinations such as meat and eggs, meat and milk, fish and cheese.
Insure the assimilation of the full range of vital amino acids by varying the types of concentrated proteins taken at different meals.
=====
Acid and starch
"Any acid taken together with starch suspends secretion of ptyalin, a biochemical fact of life upon which all physicians agree.
Therefore, if you consume oranges, lemons and other acid fruits, or acids such as vinegar's, along with starch, no ptyalin is secreted in the mouth to initiate the first stage of digestion. Consequently, the starch hits the stomach without the vital alkaline juices it needs to digest properly, permitting bacteria to ferment it instead.
A single teaspoon of vinegar, or its equivalent in other acids, is all it takes entirely to suspend salivary digestion of starch in the mouth."
THE RULE: Eat acids and starches at separate meals.
For example, if you eat toast or cereal for breakfast (starches), skip the orange juice (acid) as well as the eggs (concentrated protein).
If you're eating a starch-based meal of noodles or rice, avoid vinegar as well as concentrated protein (meat, chicken).
=====
Acid and protein
"Since protein requires an acid medium for proper digestion, you'd think that acid foods would facilitate protein digestion, but that's not the case.
When acid foods enter the stomach they inhibit the secretion of hydrochloric acid, and the protein-digesting enzyme pepsin can work only in the presence of hydrochloric acid, not just any acid.
Therefore orange juice inhibits the proper digestion of eggs, and a strong vinegar dressing on salads inhibits the digestion of steak."
THE RULE: Avoid combining concentrated proteins and acids at the same meal.
=====
Starch and sugar
"It has been established that, when sugar enters the mouth along with starch, the saliva secreted during mastication contains no ptyalin, thereby sabotaging starch digestion before it reaches the stomach.
Furthermore, such a combination blocks passage of sugar through the stomach until the starch is digested, causing it to ferment.
The by-products of sugar fermentation are acidic, which in turn further inhibits digestion of starches, which require alkaline mediums for digestion.
Bread (starch) and butter (fat) is a perfectly compatible combination, but when you spread a spoonful of honey or jam over it, you introduce sugars to the blend, which interferes with the digestion of the starch in bread.
The same principle applies to breakfast cereal sprinkled with sugar, heavily frosted cakes, sweet pies, and so forth."
THE RULE: Eat starches and sugars separately.
=====
Melon
"Melons are such a perfect food for humans that they require no digestion whatsoever in the stomach. Instead, they pass quickly through the stomach and move into the small intestine for digestion and assimilation.
But this can happen only when the stomach is empty and melons are eaten alone, or in combination only with other fresh raw fruits.
When consumed with or after other foods that require complex digestion in the stomach, melons cannot pass into the small intestine until the digestion of other foods in the stomach is complete.
So they sit and stagnate instead, quickly fermenting and causing all sorts of gastric distress."
THE RULE: Eat melons alone or leave them alone.
=====
Desserts
"One should avoid any sort of sweet dessert after a big meal, for this type of food combines poorly with everything.
Even fresh fruit should be avoided right after a big meal because it will back up in the stomach and ferment instead of digest.
If you really have a 'sweet tooth' and crave cakes, pies and pastries, indulge your habit occasionally by making a whole meal of them.
They are still not good for you but at least taken alone they will not cause as much gastric distress and toxic by-products as when taken after meals."
THE RULE: Avoid sweet starchy desserts, as well as fruits, after large meals of protein or carbohydrates.
=====
Milk and dairy
"Now we come to one of the most controversial and misunderstood items in the Western diet.
Orientals and Africans have traditionally avoided milk- except as a purgative. But in the Western world, people are told to drink milk everyday throughout their lives.
If we look at nature, we see that the young feed exclusively on milk until weaned away from it with other foods. The natural disappearance of the milk-digesting enzyme lactase from the human system upon reaching maturity proves that adult humans have no more nutritional need for milk than adult tigers or chimpanzees.
Though milk is a complete protein food when consumed raw, it also contains fat, which means that it combines poorly with any other food except itself. Yet adults today routinely 'wash down' other foods with cold milk. Milk curdles immediately upon entering the stomach, so if there is other food present the curds coagulate around other food particles and insulate them from exposure to gastric juices, delaying digestion long enough to permit the onset of putrefaction. Therefore, the first and foremost rule of milk consumption is, 'Drink it alone, or leave it alone.'
Today, milk is made even more indigestible by the universal practice of pasteurization, which destroys its natural enzymes and alters its delicate proteins.
Raw milk contains the active enzymes lactase and lipase, which permit raw milk to digest itself. Pasteurized milk, which is devitalized of lactase and other active enzymes, simply can not be properly digested by adult stomachs, and even infants have trouble with it, as evidenced by colic, rashes, respiratory ailments, gas and other common ailments of bottle-fed babies. The lack of enzymes and alteration of vital proteins also renders the calcium and other mineral elements in milk largely unassailable.
During the 1930's, Dr. Francis M. Pottenger conducted a 10-year study on the relative effects of pasteurized and raw milk diets on 900 cats. One group received nothing but raw whole milk, while the other was fed nothing but pasteurized whole milk from the same source.
The raw milk group thrived, remaining healthy, active and alert throughout their lives, but the group fed on pasteurized milk soon became listless, confused and highly vulnerable to a host of chronic degenerative ailments normally associated with humans, including heart disease, kidney failure, thyroid dysfunction, respiratory ailments, loss of teeth, brittle bones, liver inflammation, etc.
But what caught Dr. Pottenger's attention most was what happened to the second and third generations.
The first offspring of the pasteurized milk group were all born with poor teeth and small, weak bones- a clear cut sign of calcium deficiency, which indicated lack of calcium absorption from pasteurized milk.
The offspring of the raw milk group remained as healthy as their parents.
Many of the kittens in third generation of the pasteurized group were stillborn, while those that survived were all sterile and unable to reproduce.
The experiment had to end there because there was no fourth generation of cats fed on pasteurized milk, although the raw milk group continued to breed and thrive indefinitely.
If that is insufficient proof of the ill effects of pasteurized milk, take note of the fact even that newborn calves fed on pasteurized milk taken from their own mother cows usually die within six months, a fact which the commercial dairy industry is loathe to admit.
Despite such scientific evidence in favor of raw milk and against pasteurized milk, and despite the fact that until the early twentieth century the human species thrived on raw milk, it is actually illegal to sell raw milk to consumers in all but a few states in America today.
It is far more profitable to the dairy industry to pasteurize milk to extend its shelf-life, though such denatured milk does nothing whatsoever to extend human life.
Furthermore, pasteurization renders milk from sick cows in unsanitary dairies relatively 'harmless' by killing some, but not all, dangerous germs, and this too cuts costs for the dairy industry.
It required only three generations for Dr. Pottenger's pasteurized milk fed cats to become sterile and enfeebled. That's about how many generations of Americans and Europeans have fed on pasteurized milk. Today, infertility has become a major problem for your American couples, while calcium deficiency has become so rampant that over 90 percent of all American children suffer chronic tooth decay.
To make things worse, milk is now routinely 'homogenized' to prevent the cream from separating from the milk. This involves the fragmentation and pulverization of the fat molecules to the point that they will not separate from the rest of the milk. But it also permits there tiny fragments of milk fat to easily pass through the villa of the small intestine, greatly increasing the amount of denatured fat and cholesterol absorbed by the body. In fact, you absorb more milk-fat from homogenized milk than you do from pure cream!
Women worried about osteoporosis should take note of these facts about pasteurized milk products. That such denatured milk does not deliver sufficient calcium to prevent this condition is abundantly evident from the fact that American women, who consume great quantities of pasteurized milk products, suffer the world's highest incidence of osteoporosis.
Raw cabbage, for example, supplies far more available calcium than any quantity of pasteurized milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, or any other denatured dairy product.
Recent studies at the Human Research Centre in Grand Folks, North Dakota, indicates that the element boron is also an essential factor in absorbing calcium from food and utilizing it to build bones.
Even more noteworthy, the level of estrogen in the blood of women given sufficient quantities of boron more than doubled, eliminating the need for estrogen replacement therapy, which is a common stopgap measure against osteoporosis in the West. And where do we find boron? In fresh fruits and vegetables, especially apples, pears, grapes, nuts, cabbage, and other leafy vegetables, where we also find calcium. Nature has already provided abundant sources of all the vital nutrients we need in synergetic form, but man insists on cooking and processing them to death, and then wonders why his diet doesn't 'work'.
Adults should seriously reconsider milk as a constitute of their daily diets, unless they are able to obtain raw certified milk, which is an excellent food.
To stuff children with pasteurized milk in order to make them grow 'strong and healthy' is sheer folly, because they simply cannot assimilate the nutrients.
Indeed men, women, and children alike should eliminate all pasteurized dairy products from their diets, for these denatured dairy products only gum up the intestines with layer upon layer of slimy sludge that interferes with the absorption of organic nutrients."
THE RULE: Eliminate pasteurized and homogenized milk entirely from your diet.
If raw certified milk is available consume it as a whole food in itself, not in combination with other foods.

About KUNDALINI Experience -www.kundaliniawakeningseminars.com

(( THANK YOU CHRISM... with Love ))

"ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE.
Kundalini is a force or energy that resides at the base of the spine, within the last 3-coccxygial vertebrae of the tailbone. I use the word reside purposefully as this is an energetic force with an agenda.
It is referred to as the premier step of spiritual evolution in the Vedic belief systems and is still secretly used in this manner to this day by others including Christianity, Buddhism, Hebraic systems and the Sufi to name a few.
Those in the medical establishment wear it on their lapels at work. The caduceus. An exo-physiological representation of the pathways of the Kundalini. The two serpents and a staff are symbols of the spine (staff) and the two serpents (Ida and Pingala) the spiraling pathways the Kundalini follows when activated. The spine and the two major pathways of conduction spread and invigorate the body with this energy. Every cell is affected.
This is felt by the person as a sensation of tremendous energy flowing up the spine and out the top of the head, heat, and brilliant lights and sounds are experienced. Spiritual phenomena as well as the sensation of tiny electric sparks flowing and vibrating throughout the nervous system are common experiences. Bliss and extreme joy and love for all things are often felt.
The emotional, physical, mental and spiritual systems and all the major organ systems become infused with this spiritual gift for life. We utilize a series of combined practices in order to begin to move this energy with in you, triggered by the Shaktipat. The Sacred Touch of divinity.
"The energetic lineage of my Kundalini follows very closely the Edgar Cayce commentaries on the sacred life energies and the philosophy of service of the Beings who assist John of God in Brazil. These are love based traditions that are designed for Kundalini activation without the competitive and egoic aspects that can and do follow other systems.
"Emphasis is directed in the activation and awakening for as many as can hold the Kundalini. Now, in this realtime. Those that cannot hold the full activation can hold a partial one and eventually bring that into the full charge.
"Follow up protocols are the cornerstone of a clean and precise activation through to an awakening. When I give Shaktipat I purposely and confidently see where the person is most likely going to take it. I do not impede upon free will, this would violate the integrity of the transfer. I formulate the Shaktipat or the Proxipat that this person needs and then transfer the energies in the most appropriate way for that individual.
"The initial activation can be immediate or take a matter of months depending on the individuals interest and desire. Then they are taught the follow up protocols that they are to practice daily and for as long as they are in development for and towards awakening. This can be immediate or take years depending on the individual and their ethical standards as well as the work ethic. As the awakening occurs they are released from the practice as they see fit."
STANDING SHAKTI WAVE. A Standing Shakti Wave is a wave of energy that surrounds the space where a Shaktipat (see definition below) is to be given. This wall of energy emanates from the activated seventh and ninth chakra of the person who will be conducting the Shaktipat as well as the divinities that will be assisting in it. The Standing Wave is in constant motion and can activate anyone who has been practicing meditation, prayer, healing, yoga or any other practice for the purpose of spiritual advancement.
Before one enters this highly charged field, it is best to enter into a state of relaxed concentration. A light meditation or to come in with an intentional and peaceful loving presence. This greatly accelerates the phenomena of the Wave and aids in its penetration to the individuals Kundalini centers. Removing the shoes and any jewelry, watches or metal is helpful especially the shoes and socks as a connection to the Earth with the skin of the soles of the feet is very important. Bring a respect, love and a communication with divinity, your guides or your idea of God, however you see God to be.
The Standing Shakti Wave will interpenetrate the energetic field of a person. It does this by means of intersecting the particles of energy in a person's field and infusing it with activated Kundalini. The transformative nature of the Kundalini will speed up and increase the photonic reactions within the energetic sphere. There are approximately 1.7 trillion cells that make up a typical human body. Each cell has the approximate amperage of one volt. These 1.7 trillion volts of potential energy will be activated through the Shakti within the Wave. This can be felt as a light tingling upon the person's body. Lights caused by this reaction may also be observed. Once again much of the phenomenal aspects of the Standing Shakti Wave will be the individual's preparation before entering the field. So come early and take your time.
SHAKTIPAT.
Is the means by which the activated Kundalini of a Kunalini practitioner will infuse and activate those who come in contact or in the proximity of this teacher. By being in the energetic field of this person a Proxipat can also be established. This is a very strong and concentrated form of intended Kundalini energy. It works in conjunction with the Standing Shakti Wave.
BLISSFULL CHAKTIPAT.
When an awakened person is experiencing bliss, the awakened bliss can perform Shaktipat on others - utilizing a wave of the bliss that is described as joy and love. Initiating a Blissful Shaktipat is difficult, as the state of bliss is an almost paralyzing event. The individual will experience tears and heavings of the body as the bliss runs its course. Blissful energy occurs for a very short time period as the human body has a limited capacity to express this divine energy. This energy can only be used in service to others. The person experiencing the blissful state will literally be in tears or wracked with joyous sobbing as this energy is very strong and stresses the human body with it's mega-wattage emotional release. The memory of such an event is very strong, but if a spiritual practice is not established the memory of its magnificence will fade. The individual must fan the flame with a spiritual practice.
THE QUALITIES ACTIVATION.

The Safeties and Protocols for KUNDALINI Activation -CHRISM.
Current mood: awake
Category: Life
((( THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRISM FOR YOUR PRESENCE HERE... WITH GRATITUDE AND LOVE. )))
Source: http://www.myspace.com/kundalini_teacher http://www.kundaliniawakeningseminars.com/home.html http://www.kundaliniawakeningsystems1.com/index.html
"SAFETIES"
TONGUE UP - This completes the cranial circuit allowing excess
energy to bleed down the sides of the neck. Cultivate the position of the tip of the tongue resting on the fleshy mound right behind your upper front teeth . Make this a new habit.
EYES UP - This is the position of looking towards the brow of points, one and a half inches above the bridge of the nose. Most comfortable when the eyes are closed. This will draw are pull the Kundalini upwards.
FINGERS IN POSITION- This is the thumb tip and fore finger tips joined (pressed together) with the other fingers spread out wide. This is a finger lock.
WATER - As the Kundalini rises it will stimulate and activate the kidneys and the adrenal glands. The adrenals and the kidneys can become hot. Really hot and feel as if they are expanding. The adrenals will release amounts of adrenachrome, or the bodies version of speed. This can be very disconcerting, and can help you to fear. So plenty of living water i.e. water that is from a spring or another source that isn't chlorinated or from the tap of a city, but if the city water is what you've got - drink it Also plenty of watermelon if you can get it as this can be very soothing for the kidneys.
PROGRAMMING (TV, movies, books, music, friends, family, church) - In our culture we are seeing and reading and hearing, from various sources, many negative and fear evoking forms of entertainment, news and communications. This is not helpful when a person is newly activated with the Kundalini. Fear, excessive lust, hateful attitudes, can be quite painful and damaging to the new Kundalyn energies and many unfortunate events can be created by the Kundalini exposed to such energies. So, no scary movies, or books or radio shows unless you want to experience them in real-time with you as the unwitting star. Music that is angry or hateful or hurtful even if the melody is sweet need to be curtailed. Inter familial problems are sometimes hard to dismiss. Try as much as possible to bring love and peace and forgiveness into your daily and nightly life. I know this sounds difficult but just make it a priority and it will be extremely beneficial to you and your Kundalini, setting the best pattern for the energy to follow in its transformation of your life.
FOOD CHOICES - Pay attention to the new tastes and desires your body begins to have. If you have been a vegetarian and you start having an interest in beef. well, try to find some organic beef and eat it, love it and bless the animal that has given the ultimate gift for you. The Kundalini needs what is in that meat in order to advance your activation. It wants and needs that kind of protein, surrender to this. Or if the opposite is true you're a meat eater and the Kundalyn Energies wish for you to become vegetarian - don't hesitate! Find yourself a great organic market or farmers market and make like a rabbit! Really, you will be much happier I promise. This is only for a short time and then it may switch back as your activation progresses into an awakening. The Kundalini will let you know in no uncertain terms.
FORGIVENESS - Emotional blockages are a main cause of pain and instability within the Kundalini awakening process. Issues of grief, guilt, loss, abandonment and fear can and do manifest within the context of the Kundalini as pain. It is also an attachment for energies that feed off of these conditions. Resolving these difficulties after many years or a lifetime of experience is often difficult and seemingly impossible. First you need to develop the intent and then to follow that intention with action. However many years and in many cases lifetimes that a person has been wracked with pain and anguish there is and has been a way towards resolution. It's called forgiveness. Not always towards a perceived assailant or of another person but also for ones own self. Forgiveness is a Divine aspect of love.
Recapitulation - Realizing that we are all here on this physical plane to learn and to come into direct contact with others who have qualities different from our own, forgiveness gives us a platform for tolerance, another Divine aspect of love. In the context of the Kundalyn energies, this is a very important practice that must be done daily and with the most sincere and heartfelt expression. It lays the foundation for most if not all of the special gifts and skills that come with an awakening.
Recapitulate all peoples who have done harm to you. All people whom you have harmed. Think back upon your life experiences and for the moment pick out the highlights of hurts that have been inflicted upon you and by you. Now consciously forgive them and you. There may still be Karmic repercussions but this will go a long way towards ameliorating them. So practice this daily and new remembrances will come to mind getting in line for the forgiveness. This requires an honest acknowledgment of activity from both the receiving and of the inflicting aspects of our experiences with others. Honesty towards ones self is another ingredient that must be attained in order for this to work.
Regardless of where the blame is, forgiveness must be reached for and given. Not a small task to be sure but an essential one. As the forgiveness encounters the heavy vibrational construct of the emotional blockage, Divine love is seeped into the matrix causing, in many instances an emotional outburst of relief and release of burden. The blockage is relieved and the Kundalini continues its invigoration throughout the body.
For optimal results this must be done daily and constantly throughout your conscious periods. For example, someone cuts you off on the freeway forgive them as quickly as you condemn them. Do this immediately and it will begin to smooth your condemnations to the point where you will be happy to let them in and wish them well upon their way. Take this in stages and don't force too much upon yourself all at once but keep the intent strong and healthy in your heart and mind. This will have an almost immediate effect in your life passage as well as being an energetic snowplow for the Kundalini. As in most things practice makes it become second nature, so practice. This concept applies to all of your human interactions. Love and forgiveness are the rules.
INNER JOY - When you experience a situation in which you find yourself in very unfamiliar territory the first impulse is to go into fear. I want you to begin to cultivate a memory of when you have been joyous. Exuberantly joyous. I would have you practice this during the day when you experience something frightening. Immediately supplant this reaction with the inner joy, just the memory of it will change your perception and therefore the energy of the situation. Put a "post it" in your car on the dash if that's where these events happen for you or at work somewhere. Or on the refrigerator at home where you can remind yourself of this new reversal that you are incorporating. You can write "I J "on it just as a reminder. This is to begin a new form of acceptance of different mind states that will help you on the Kundalini path.
TRUST - Trust the process that is happening to you. Know and understand that God is watching everything. Spirit is watching everything. You are safe in the arms of the Divinity as long as you practice the love and forgiveness that are part of what we teach. If you stray into areas of negativity, willfully, and with malice afore thought, well, then that is what you will receive. In real time. So trust the Kundalini. It has your best interests as part of its agenda or you would not have been allowed to activate or even to have known about this.
HONESTY - As you feel the energy work its way within you be honest with yourself about what is happening. Watch out for denial. If you start falling into denial you can miss information the Kundalini is trying to impart to you so be aware of how you are honestly feeling. Watch yourself closely without becoming obsessed. When you feel sensations of a presence or object traveling inside your spine do not chalk it up to a sore back or that last tennis match or the tight clothing. Unless of course it is. Be clear and honest and see if it fits the descriptions of what you have learned here and if you have questions go on the web and ask the seminar chat room or list to clarify it with you. We will be monitoring and responding to any such inquiries.
LOVE - Actively love what is happening. Express this active love by being actively forgiving and interested in being of service to others. Not in a slavish or demeaning way but in a confidant and strength based, loving way. Help that kid or senior citizen or fellow mortal without endangering yourself preferably. This allows the Kundalini to activate your systems much cleaner and more quickly. I know it sounds hokey but love is the strongest quality and just as the negative can turn around and bite so does the love turn around and embrace - even faster!
Love causes the energy to move rapidly and as you practice this quality you will find that negativity just doesn't seem to come your way as much and then almost never. Service to others or for others is an essential practice for the Kundalini of this lineage. Others who have activated without these teachings have and are suffering terribly and my heart goes out to them. They will learn though in their own good or bad time. They will learn what you are learning right now. Love is one of the best safeties you can practice because as I mentioned before you are being observed, really, and a kind of protection has been placed around you for the purpose of giving you the opportunity to take this evolutionary step called the Kundalini. As you practice, communications and assurances will be given by this source to help you on the path. Remember your"thank you's".
GRATITUDE - Be grateful for the ideas and thoughts and wisdoms that begin to flow into your mind sometimes like a flood. Be grateful for the Kundalini as it is bringing you to a new and greater understanding of the "All that is ". Be grateful to your family and friends and perfect strangers for what they bring to your life and the opportunities that come your way. Say to yourself in your mind and heart that you are grateful for these gifts and even greater ones will come your way. This is the nature of the path you are walking. Diligence and integrity are richly rewarded.
PRAYER - This can be one of the more difficult of the safeties to practice. Especially if you were not raised in an environment respectful or embracing of prayer - like myself. There are many misconceptions about it but I won't go into those here. I will only say that it is very important and must be practiced. Christ is real, Mary is real, Yahweh, Buddha, Allah, Zeus, Cybele, to name a few. All of them are real. And yes, I know this is a "real" stretch for some of you and it was for me too. However we feel about this culturally this is just how it is behind the veil. I'm not saying to pray to all of them but if you don't already have one - Pick one that you like or pick GOD and pray. Pray for healing for a friend or a stranger or a family member. Pray for yourself. Pray for the Kundalini to take you where it is you want to go or to become what it is you want to be. These folks can be very, very helpful. Do not disregard this because you are unaccustomed to it. Stretch yourself and make this a part of your practice.
MOVEMENT - Dance or do Tai Chi or Yoga. These activities nurture the energy in your body, filling the cells and stretching the muscles. Actively practice hands on healing, volunteer, be active, and move! Play or walk but do not sit and be a couch potato. That can lead to a stagnant energy response, and you don't want that - trust me.
SINGLE NOSTRIL BREATHING - If you get to hot place your thumb or finger over your right nostril and breathe through the left continuously and with medium force. This activates the Lunar channel (Ida) and will immediately cool your heat. If you get to cold cover your left nostril breath in a similar fashion and you will warm up. This activating your Solar channel (Pingala).
COMPRESSION PRAYER/ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATING Breathe in through he left nostril with right nostril covered or blocked Breathe in with the mantra for example "The love of Christ" or"Krishna" "Buddha" or "Allah" or "I am one with the all that I am" Find one that works for you but do not leave out a recognition of God however God is to you.
Use the Law of Trinity. Say the mantra three times upon the intake of the breath through the left nostril. At the top of the breath, Hold and say the mantra three times again. At the beginning of the exhale switch nostrils by covering the left and opening the right and exhaling through the right with the mantra "the love of god" three times, timing the sequence with a "love of God" at the beginning of the exhale and the third one at the end of the exhale. This also applies to the inhales.
Now with the left nostril covered and the right nostril open, inhale with the mantra three times through the right nostril. Hold say to your self the mantra three times and then switch nostrils and cover the right and exhale with the mantra through the left nostril. This equals one cycle. This is called Triangluar breathing.
Once again use a divinity you are comfortable with even "My high Self" will suffice.
Looks like this: (right nostril blocked) "The love of Christ...... .The love of Christ...... The love of Christ" ( Holding at top of breath) " The love of Christ...The love of Christ...The love of Christ..." ( Switching nostrils and covering left and exhaling out the right) " The Love of God...The love of God...The love of God..." ( Keeping the left nostril blocked inhale through the right) " The love of Christ..The love of Christ..The love of Christ" ( Holding at top of breath) Repeat "The love of Christ"x 3 ( Switching nostrils and exhaling through the left) The love of God" x 3
And so forth for 15 cycles to start."
Please begin to eat root vegetables.
Carrots, beets, radishes, turnips, jicama, potato's, onions,
celery root, garlic, ginseng, ginger. Plenty of water
and watermelon to ease the strain on the kidneys.
Juices of the roots are also good.
For the more serious among you who can safely do so,
please begin a three day fast -
First day -nothing but water + prayer and meditation as much as possible
with breaks
Second day -nothing but juices of these
roots + prayer and meditation as much as possible, with breaks
Third day -same blessings - chrism
The Practice – Every day or night or both.
5 Tibetans (start slow with no more than 6 repetitions for each Tibetan)
Forgiveness' s (recapitulations, forgiveness of self and others)
Gratitude's (For the good and the bad as teachings are acquired with both)
Surrendering (opening completely to the energy with love and joy and the desire to be at one with the kundalini as it is revealed to you)
Prayers to the Shakti (goddess energy), and personal diety for awakening.
Compression Prayer with alternate nostril breathing 15 cycles no more (tongue up, eyes up, fingers locked).
Meditation.

Awakening Your Life's Purpose_ ECKHART TOLLE by Kathy Juline.
Current mood: enthusiastic
Awakening to Your Life's Purpose - An Interview with Eckhart Tolle by Kathy Juline copyright 2006 source Science of Mind
"Reprinted from the October 2006 issue of Science of Mind magazine. Used with permission."
Eckhart Tolle's first bestseller, The Power of Now, has riveted readers with its enlightened insights. Staying in the present moment, he says in that book, is the way to eliminate the suffering created through identifying with the mind. In his latest book, A New Earth, Tolle continues his theme of present moment awareness, elaborating on it with his unique clarity and depth, and he also explores how an awakened consciousness aligns us with our life purpose. We have both an inner and an outer purpose, according to Tolle. Our outer purpose changes with circumstances and necessarily involves time, whereas our inner purpose remains always the same: It is to be absolutely present in whatever we do and so let our actions be guided and empowered by awareness, the awakened consciousness, rather than controlled by the egoic mind. We fulfill our destiny and realize our purpose when we awaken to who we are: conscious Presence.
Tolle has taken the essence of spiritual wisdom from such great teachers as Jesus and Buddha, and put this wisdom into meaningful expression for today, just as Ernest Holmes has done through his formulation of a Science of Mind and Spirit. When Holmes says of spiritual mind treatment that it is "clearing the thought of negation, of doubt and fear, and causing it to perceive the ever-presence of God," he is gleaning the same wisdom from ancient teachings that Tolle has also done in his books. Now, with A New Earth, he makes this key to enlightenment—being fully conscious in this very moment—real and alive for us in today's words and for today's world. His book title comes from the biblical passage in Revelation promising a new heaven and a new earth. It is a metaphor for the state of conscious awareness of infinite being (heaven), which continually comes forth in a new way into new form (earth). Because his meaning goes beyond an intellectual grasp, Tolle's ideas ask for contemplation. They are more to be opened up to than studied. "Words are only pointers," he says. "What is being communicated lies beyond words, but we can use them to go at least in the direction of what is meant and that is helpful."
SOM: In your vision of a new earth, the purpose of life involves what you call awakened doing. What do you mean by this?
Tolle: Most people treat the present moment as if it were an obstacle that they need to overcome. Since the present moment is Life itself, it is an insane way to live.
In awakened doing there is complete internal alignment with the present moment and whatever you are doing right now. The doing is then not primarily a means to an end, but an opening for consciousness to come into this world. Aligning yourself with the Now is aligning yourself with universal purpose, the purpose of the whole. What is the purpose of the whole? The birth and flowering of consciousness. The whole then guides you in whatever you think or do.
As I explain in A New Earth, awakened doing has three modalities, depending on circumstances and the nature of the activity. They are acceptance, enjoyment, and enthusiasm. If there is neither acceptance, enjoyment, or enthusiasm in what you do, you are out of alignment with universal purpose. You are creating unhappiness, that is to say suffering in one form or another. One way of defining the ego is simply this: a dysfunctional relationship with the present moment. What I refer to as the "new earth"—the outer forms created by awakened doing—arises as more people realize that their purpose is to allow consciousness to emerge through whatever they do.
SOM: Do you believe that humanity is ready for this transformation?
Tolle: Yes. I see signs that it is already happening. For the first time there is a large scale awakening on our planet. Why now? Because if there is no change in human consciousness now, we will destroy ourselves and perhaps the planet. The insanity of the collective egoic mind, amplified by science and technology, is rapidly taking our species to the brink of disaster. Evolve or die: that is our only choice now. Without considering the Eastern world, my estimate is that at this time about ten percent of people in North America are already awakening. That makes thirty million Americans alone, and in addition to those people in other North American countries, about ten percent of the population of Western European countries are also awakening. This is probably enough of a critical mass to bring about a new earth. So the transformation of consciousness is truly happening even though they won't be reporting it on tonight's news. Is it happening fast enough? I am hopeful about humanity's future, much more so now than when I wrote The Power of Now. In fact that is why I wrote that book. I really wasn't sure that humanity was going to survive. Now I feel differently. I see many reasons to be hopeful.
SOM: You say in your new book that for humanity to make this transformation, there needs to be a shift from object consciousness to space consciousness. Can you explain more about that?
Tolle: Yes. I am saying that I see the emergence of space consciousness as the next stage in the evolution of humanity. By space consciousness I mean that in addition to our being fully conscious of things—that is to say of sense perceptions, thoughts, emotions, and whatever happens in our lives—there is at the same time an undercurrent of awareness or Presence operating in us. Awareness implies that we are not only conscious of things, such as the objects and the people around us, but we are also conscious at the same time of being conscious. Conscious of the timeless I AM without which there would be no world. We can sense an inner alert stillness in the background while things happen in the foreground. That is the unconditioned. That is true intelligence. If there is only object consciousness in our lives, we remain trapped in the conditioned, trapped in form, which creates an appearance of separation. We are always trying to change the form or are resisting it in some way. We are looking to the world of form for salvation. But when we are aware of space consciousness, aware of being aware, we are freed from identification with form, which is ego, and there arises within us a sense of oneness with the whole and with our Source.
SOM: So attachment and struggle are released.
Tolle: That's right, because in space consciousness there is no future and no past. There is only the present, and it is always free. This is what the Buddhists call "emptiness" and Jesus calls "the fullness of life." It is the same thing, or rather no-thing. Because it is an opening into the vertical dimension, which has no limit, the present is never confining or fraught with problems. Problems need time, that is to say past and future, to survive. On the other hand, if we let our focus drift back to the past or forward to the future, we are functioning in the horizontal dimension, and this results in an expanded differentiation of forms deriving from ego constructs. Entering the vertical dimension requires a high degree of Presence. The Now needs to be the main focus of our attention. Of course, we need the concept of time in order to function, for example, to schedule this interview. But the point is not to be limited to that dimension alone. The arising of space consciousness—a shift to vertical rather than horizontal awareness—is the next stage in the evolution of humanity, and it's happening more and more as our awareness remains in the now moment.
SOM: Can you suggest some ways to stay focused in the now?
Tolle: One thing we can do is to notice the little things all around us, paying attention to details such as the birds in the trees and the flowers in the garden or the park—just notice the beauty everywhere, even the smallest things. To notice seemingly insignificant things requires alertness. That alertness is the key. It is the unconditioned. It is consciousness itself. Another helpful practice is to watch the breath, and breathe consciously. If we are paying attention to our breath, we cannot be thinking of anything else at the same time. Our attention is in the now moment and not on our worries about yesterday or our plans for what we will do next week. We are just breathing, not thinking. Because the practice of breath meditation takes us out of the activity of thought, it is an effective way to awaken. In fact, breath, because it has no form as such, has traditionally been equated with spirit, the formless One Life. In the German language, the word atmen, meaning "breathing," is derived from atman, which in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India, refers to the innermost essence or universal self.
SOM: Why is it a desirable practice to free the mind from thinking?
Tolle: Thinking, or more precisely identification with thinking, gives rise to and maintains the ego, which, in our Western society in particular, is out of control. It believes it is real and tries hard to maintain its supremacy. Negative states of mind, such as anger, resentment, fear, envy, and jealousy, are products of the ego. When the ego is in control, these states of mind appear to us to be justified and also to be caused by some external factor. Usually another person is blamed for these feelings. Their true cause, however, is not to be found in the content of your life, but in the very structure of the egoic mind. It needs enemies because it defines its identity through separation, and so it emphasizes the other-ness of others. For this reason, letting the ego be in control leads ultimately to violence, fighting, and war. This is madness, but the ego doesn't see it that way.
The film A Beautiful Mind does a good job of depicting how the mind can delude us if we are not aware that it is controlling us. It's the true story of a man who is a genius but he's also insane. The audience doesn't know that he's insane until he himself realizes it as the story unfolds. The film makes the point that when you become aware that you are insane, you are no longer insane. So when you become aware of your mind, you are not identified with your mind anymore. A new dimension of consciousness has come in. The madness is caused by thinking without awareness, and thinking without awareness is how the ego keeps us in its grip.
SOM: Are you suggesting that we just change the content of our thoughts away from negativity or rather that we cease the activity of thinking?
Tolle: Positive thinking is certainly preferable to negative thinking. But to be in the consciousness of the now moment and to practice awareness of the divine Presence is what Jesus means in his Sermon on the Mount when he says, "Take no thought for your life." From this state of Being comes great creativity. "Change your thinking" can really be understood as telling us to cease the constant busy activity of the mind, which is repetitive, futile, and often negative. Instead of constantly thinking, we become still and quiet, and we become conscious of being conscious. This is the realization of I AM, the realization of Being, our essence identity. When we are rooted in that, thinking becomes the servant of awareness, rather than a self- (ego) serving activity. It becomes creative, empowered.
SOM: You talk in your book about the pain-body, both personal and collective. What do you mean by the pain-body?
Tolle: The pain-body is my term for the accumulation of old emotional pain that almost all people carry in their energy field. I see it as a semi-autonomous psychic entity. It consists of negative emotions that were not faced, accepted, and then let go in the moment they arose. These negative emotions leave a residue of emotional pain, which is stored in the cells of the body. There is also a collective human pain-body containing the pain suffered by countless human beings throughout history. The pain-body has a dormant stage and an active stage. Periodically it becomes activated, and when it does, it seeks more suffering to feed on. If you are not absolutely present, it takes over your mind and feeds on negative thinking as well as negative experiences such as drama in relationships. This is how it has been perpetuating itself throughout human history. Another way of describing the pain-body is this: the addiction to unhappiness.
SOM: Can you suggest a way to eliminate the pain-body?
Tolle: Yes. We release it by cutting the link between the pain-body and our thought processes, so that we no longer feed the pain-body with our thinking. Every negative thought has a similar frequency to the pain-body and so feeds it. It cannot feed on positive thoughts. When the pain-body no longer runs the internal dialogue of our compulsive thinking, we become aware of it directly. We feel the emotion in our body, and so we bring awareness to it, the light of consciousness. The old emotion is then transmuted into consciousness in the same way that a fire transmutes everything into itself. So disidentification from the emotion and just being in the now moment is the way to stop the cycle of constantly recreating painful experiences.
SOM: Fear seems to lie behind most negative emotions. How can it be released? You speak about a process of disidentification. How does it work?
Tolle: Fear arises through identification with form, whether it be a material possession, a physical body, a social role, a self-image, a thought, or an emotion. It arises through unawareness of the formless inner dimension of consciousness or spirit, which is the essence of who you are. You are trapped in object consciousness, unaware of the dimension of inner space which alone is true freedom.
Every fearful thought is about future, is about something that could or may happen. Most people are familiar with the "mental movies" that cause stress and anxiety and keep you awake at night, while your body lies in a warm and comfortable bed. The moment you recognize a fearful thought for what it is, that is to say futile and self-destructive mind activity, you begin to disidentify from it. Awareness or Presence then takes over from thinking. I am not saying that you don't think anymore, just that you no longer confuse it with who you are. Thinking becomes rooted in awareness rather than being autonomous and self-serving, which is the ego.
Every pain-body contains a great deal of fear, since fear is the primordial negative emotion. How do we deal with that? Here again, you recognize it for what it is: the pain-body, an accumulation of old emotion. Once you recognize it, it cannot take over your mind, feed on your negative thoughts, and control your internal dialogue as well as what you say and do. Once the pain-body has come up, don't fight or resist it. It is part of the "isness" of the present moment with which you always need to be in inner alignment. So you allow it to be there. If you don't feed it anymore, it loses its energy charge and the negative emotion undergoes transmutation.
SOM: You speak in your book of the ego's incessant wanting and its insatiable need for more. Wouldn't certain things we want be considered worthwhile, though, such as wanting to become a better person?
Tolle: The desire to become a better person is usually to do with wanting to improve how I feel about myself, how I see myself, or how I am seen by others. It is to do with mental image-making, that is to say, ego. That includes, of course, wanting to become enlightened or more spiritual. Awakening or spiritual realization is the discovery that you don't need to add anything to yourself in order to be yourself fully. You don't need to try to become good, but allow the goodness that is within you, inherent in Being and inseparable from who you are, to emerge.
SOM: You say that as people awaken to their true self and their life purpose, a new earth is created. What is this new earth like?
Tolle: I don't want to speculate about the characteristics of the new earth, but whatever it is, it will be an outer manifestation of the new heaven, the inner realm of consciousness. It will arise out of the awakened consciousness that is unconditioned and free from the illusions of ego. Hints of what the new earth will be like are found in the Bible, where it says, for example, that "the wolf shall dwell with the lamb …." One way of understanding this is that what we perceive as external reality is one with and a reflection of collective human consciousness, so a change in consciousness will change not only the world we create, but our entire way of perceiving reality.
As human beings awaken from the dream of identification with form, consciousness can begin to create form without losing itself in it. The true essence of who each of us is, is being realized. The coming of a new heaven and a new earth, predicted both in the Old and the New Testaments, is an apt metaphor for this shift in consciousness. This shift, however, is not a future state to be achieved or even believed in. A new heaven and a new earth are arising within each of us at this moment. So awakening to your life's purpose is not to try to look to the future and expect fulfillment there but to stay in the moment, allowing the ego to dissolve. Your life's inner purpose is primary, and your inner purpose is to awaken, to be conscious. In whatever you do, your state of consciousness is the primary factor.
