Life is good..
Hey all, been a while since i blogged!
Life has been good to me the last few months, lots of changes, all for the better.
I've been with my girlfriend Abby going on close to 6 months now, madly in love and have been living with her pretty much since the beginning, bit of a big move so early, and some people thought we were a bit mad, but theres been no regrets! We have got quite a bit of land at the new pad and have a few pets (a chocolate labrador retriever, 2 british alpine baby goats, and 2 black pigs that are coming soon, never a dull moment at our pad!!)
As far as the band is concerned the album is coming along nicely and is well into the mixing process. It's being sent to Sterling sound in new york to be mastered once complete and should have a few songs available online before the end of the year, release will be early 2008.
I'm now a poor student and have been studying audio engineering at SAE (school of audio engineering) in parnell and having a blast! It's great finally doing something I love (after spending years trying to find it) and plan to make a career out of it.
Take care!

When it all happens at once..
Current mood: drained
Well it's been a rocking winding twisting turning forky road the last few weeks, and when they say bad things happen in 3's, lets just hope it stays at that. Thanks to the fucker who broke into my car, stole nothing, left me with a broken window and a reason to vacuum my car, which it needed anyway so theres a +! Out of all the cars on the street, you pick a shitty red 1990 honda accord? Kinda like a fly who's too lazy to find a good bbq to raid but just finds himself a piece of shit somewhere instead. I did help out this poor bugger who ran out of petrol yesterday, he'd driven all the way from palmerston north to see a relo in hospital and had no money, i was heading into the booze store anyway, grabbed $10 cash out and gave it to him.. come to think of it, he could have been a scam artist, and i could have bought a box of 15 instead of 12, but i'm hoping the kharma gods shed some light on me!
We are currently in pre-production for the Miscreant album, and it's been a great experience so far, Andrew (the producer) is full of ideas having had much experience doing that sort of thing, and we've been chopping and changing some of the tracks and turned them into much better songs. We are learning a lot about song writing and playing as a band, and can't wait to get into the studio at the end of June. We are playing a show May 25th at Schooner tavern, this will be the last show for a wee while so be sure to get down there! It's our singer Chris's b'day too, a big night awaits!

Another aftergrog bog
Current mood: contemplative
Ello,
Well last couple of months have been not so much musically oriented, i've been rather slack in that department, rather i'm in a certain phase of soul seeking.
I spent a month throughout Christmas and new years in Melbourne where I spent time catching up with old friends and family, as ya do when you head home from overseas. In a nutshell, good times consisted of spending New Years in Lakes Entrance at my mate Bren's place, he's got a rather nice setup there and we drunk alot and spent a few afternoons out on his boat. I also managed to scam an extra week off work in January and extended my trip so i could head up to Eildon and spend a few nights on a houseboat, it was bloody nice to be on the water in a tranquil environment without drainers and clear my head a bit. I had my first attempt at wakeboarding, and i sucked, I think it's my lack of good balance and general coordination which the booze has probably thrown off kilter somewhat, oh i have gumby legs too. I got shown up by my brothers' mates 14 year old daughter who is an absolute gun, shame! I decided it was best I stuck to what i excel at, drinking booze and playing guitar, acknowledged! Booze cruises, fishing, movie nights on the boats deck with a big projector screen and general boozy good times. I recommend you get out and hire a movie called 'Kenny', I havn't laughed so hard in a long time, I love toilet humour and smut. And I caught another couple of mates of mine Daniel and Erin get hitched, congrats!!
Anyway this contemplative soul seeking can't really (or need) be explained until I am through it, but as usual it has to do with being homesick and the feeling my time in nz is up, and that would mean throwing away all i've worked for these past few years, not an easy decision. As i'm heading towards the big 25, like majority of people my age, i'm having a minor mid 20's crisis. It's not a bad thing, it's merely a contemplative phase where you have matured ten fold since you turned 20 and you start to look again at where you are going, in every aspect of your life. Interesting, but i'm looking forward to the ride, and outcome... i suppose i'm blogging all this because I know theres a majority who are like this so feel free to share your thoughts..
Anyhow, i'm over this blog thing for now....
peace, love, harmony and rock n roll!!

Well it's about time for another one of these...
Current mood: Hungover
Howdy doody,
Well it's been a rather eventful couple of months for myself and the band, so eventful that my memory won't have the ability to recall everything throughout the time I write this, for the majority of them I was half cut anyway, thats a good enough excuse.
About 3 weeks ago I went down to Rotorua with a crew of around 20-30 people to go white water rafting. We also had accomodation sorted for the night so we could get boozy in town afterwards, which we sure did! Highlight of the ride was the fact that out of the 5 boats, ours was the only one that flipped over going down the huge 7 meter waterfall! I am sure the instructors tipped it on purpose because i could see in the video replay that the one at the back who was steering gave it a nudge to the side. I should be getting some photos soon.. The day after a few of us went down the infamous luge, i'm sure that if you go there you'll see a poster with our faces saying 'do not let these guys in' because we sure caused some drunken havoc.. besides a few bruises, scrapes, and a near loss of an expensive pair of sunglasses, all I can say is we had a good time...
I'm currently working on getting our songs airplay at a few major Aussie radio stations, and one American one, all is looking promising! Most promising would be Nova as two music directors from different radio stations (vega and mix 101.1) have heard it and gave it the thumbs up and passed it on to them, i'm just playing the waiting game now.
'Hey Mister' our latest single is doing very well with airplay on the rock fm's off the record segment, and the video was done a couple weeks ago too which you can view on my profile.
On a lighter note, i have managed to throw up in a cab twice in a 6 week period. I blame Wayyyyne. And if you ever see 'Evad' (my drunken 3rd person) don't buy him a beer, but send him home in a cab, with a paper bag and my address written on my forehead, but please be kind and don't draw a cock on my face.
Ok well thats about all I can be bothered writing..
Get the new Incubus album, highly recommended!!!
Rock on.

more blah blah...
Did the auckland harbour bridge bungy the other week, fuckin awesome! And now for the much higher queenstown one!! Was called up to jump first which was a wee but intimidating because uinlike a few of the others i was a virgin jumper.. thought maybey cause i'm aussie they decided to pick on me? hehe.. or me being the heaviest out of the bunch (yeah what a fatass!) and going in a 'heaviest to lightest' order i had to go first.. so yeah lucky me.. I suppose it serves me and my bad beer guts right!
Bands new single hey mister is up now, quite a twist to the sound of thin line but she's a nice change and fits in well with the shit load of new kickass material we've been writing.. still mostly rocky, but catchier and more well thought out than thin line, you's will all just have to wait and see!!
Got a work function to play at tomorrow night, 500 odd people and free booze, can't go wrong with that! Yeeha!
Off to my beautiful home town of melbourne next week, a mate of mine tim is gettin hitched, my god i feel old!! it's his funeral.. hahaha!
till the next random drunken rambling.. i say g'day..!

Daves ramblings...
Well the last few weeks have been pretty full on and i'm feeling drained, mostly by my self destructive nature of fuckall sleep and an alcohol fetish, but i'm feeling pretty content with life as it currently stands..
My band recorded a single at york st last week and we should have a master on the 28th of July, it's set me a little broke, but it's definately something to be proud of! Look forward to sharing it with the world soon....
Our song Thin Line has been on the rock fm over the past few weeks, bloody stoked.. so get requesting! www.therock.net.nz You are the people who make it possible so we can continue making what we love..
Went to see stainds acoustic show couple weeks ago, bloody epic man, i have a new found respect for that bands music i didn't have before and i recommend you all listen more... i never really looked too deep into the lyrics, but aaron pours so much into it and i really felt it like he was talking to me.. the way he's basically saying everything is gona be alright because there is others out there who feel the same, it's hard to talk about problems.. but through the power of song ya can get what you need to feel a glimmer of hope, one of the best shows i've ever had the pleasure of experiencing!
Played a show at shadows last weekend, had an absolute blast, had free beers so with a few beers under my belt and a guitar in hand, with my fellow miscreants beside me, (including guest guitarist gray from these 4 walls sharing the stage with us!), we had an absolute cracker of a show! And the crowd enjoyed it too given the response hehe!
I've been forced into going buni jumping on the weekend.... if i survive.. i'll catchyas up! haha
cheers :-)

My bands new single coming up! and other ramblings...
Current mood: relaxed
Well i've never posted a blog before, so i thought i'd just say that my bands new single Thin Line is back from L.A. and it's sounding huge!! It's getting mastered at the moment so we should have it back soon...
Other than that i'm relaxing over in Melbourne at the moment throughout Easter and for a week after that, and it's been great so far!! Besides the rats weather.. it's better than being drained away at work! I'm off to my mates engagement party tomorrow, i'm starting to feel old seeing my old schoolmates getting hitched already!
Check my bands gig out on May 13!! www.miscreantband.com
Cheers :-)
