{3.31.08} - GOING OUT OF TOWN

Hello everyone,

I am going to be out of town for two months and I will not have access to a computer. So, I will not be able to update or check my messages.

When I get back I hope to have many new things for you!

Thank you for your patience and your kind words.

02.08.08 - {Cover of the Preview}
Current mood: cheerful

Hey everyone,

Today I am on the cover of the Preview section of the Shreveport Times! Below are some pictures of the cover and the layout. To read the story, please go the link below.

Shreveport Times Story.

The article states that I am working on a full-length with Mario Tremaine, but we are going to start recording a 6-track EP. If things with the EP go well, I am hoping a full-length will follow up sometime within the future. Also, when I play out at the restaurant, I usually play with my good friends Brad Goodwin & Nathan Woods. Erik Neff & Remington Rafael have played at the restaurant and I have opened for them a couple times. They are sweet guys and I highly recommend you check them out and support their music.

Tomorrow I am playing at a Fraternity house for a charity event. It is a battle of the bands at Louisiana Tech. So, if you so happen to live in Ruston, please come out and support the bands! :).

The songs for the EP are written out and I am very excited to record them. They are very upbeat little jazzy songs. When I start recording them I shall let all of you know.

:)

I hope all of you are doing great.

1.14.08 - {It’s Coming}
Current mood: amused

Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year!!! I hope the year is treating you kindly.

I have some news for you. This Thursday I am playing a very laid back acoustic show at Artspace with my friends Nathan & Aj. We will be doing a couple originals and a couple fun covers as well. So please come out and listen if you can and say hello!

As for my CD, it will be out sometime this year. Although, it's no longer going to be a full-length but probably a 6 track EP. I really just want to make a solid EP and see how that goes. The full length CD will come, so don't worry ;). I shall start recording this EP sometime around the next couple of months. As of now, I'm still working on the arrangements and the mood of these songs. It is really important to me that this EP comes out how I imagine it to. :)

Again, thank you for all of your patience and for the sweet messages.

I have been working with or have played with several talented artists lately and I highly recommend that you check them out! These artists are featured in my top 8! So please check out their pages and listen to their music because they are incredible.

Peace + Love

11.04.07 - {Out With the Old, In With the New}
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Music

Hello everyone!

I took down two tracks from my previous EP for I thought that those recordings do not represent my current style of writing and music. So, I uploaded Change again (which was on my first EP) and a new song called Count My Dreams At Night which I wrote awhile ago and was going to be on the second EP. This song may or may not be on the new CD but I thought I would upload it for you guys to listen to anyways. This recording is an unfinished recording, so please excuse the roughness of it.

December 1st I am going to be playing a show at Jayne Marie on Cross Lake with my good friends Brad Goodwin & Mario Tremaine. Both of them are extremely talented musicians and I am so excited for this show! We will be playing the entire evening, so if you can make it out, you really should. At this show we will be doing some covers and a lot of our material as well. This show will probably be the last show I'll do playing my own material for awhile because I would like to focus on the writing process of my CD at the moment.

Random acknoledgement: I met this really sweet band called The Stolen Sweets. They have a 20's esque swing jazz sound. So go check them out because they are fantastic and outstanding live!

Thank you so much for everyone's support and patience while I am working on this CD. :)

I hope all of you are doing well.

Take Care

7.18.07 - {Currently Writing for First Full Length}
Current mood: artistic

Hey everyone,

I am so sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything. I have a lot of good and exciting news for all of you though! Instead of just a small 6-track EP, I am going to be working on a full-length CD!!! Yes! I am actually really excited about this.

Currently, I am working with this really great producer named Alex Houton who is simply a doll. He is pushing me to new expectations and truly challenging me to be a more "structured" songwriter, which I am really excited about. So I am working on some new material for the upcoming CD which there is no recording date yet, but you can expect the CD to be out in the summer of 2008!

I am really excited about this and I am enjoying the process of writing. Now, what can you expect? Who knows?! It is all up in the air and the creative juices are flowing. ;)

Also! I have been playing with my friend Brad Goodwin quite frequently at Jayne Marie on Cross Lake. This boy is an old soul and you must see him live. If you are a fan of Damien Rice, Brad will not disappoint you. Keep checking my myspace for dates when we're playing together.

Thank you guys for being so supportive & patient! I have gotten some really sweet emails and I really appreciate all of your messages and comments.

Take care

3.25.07 - {Growing Period}
Current mood: creative

Hello everyone,

I am sorry it has been such a long time since I last updated. Currently I am in California for I am working with my voice teacher to become a stronger singer. I'm also here to work on many things to grow as a musician and as an individual.

Some new opportunities have opened their doors to me and I am going to be finishing the CD with a new producer and studio. Sandbox Recordings is a wonderful studio and everyone there is endlessly talented, but this was just a personal decision I made for my music and myself as an artist. Because of this, the CD is not going to be finished until quite some time now. But I will make sure to keep all of you posted on the process.

I'm planning on playing some Open Mics here in Palm Desert while I am here. Once I get some more information, I will post it up here and for those of you who reside in the Desert, you should come see me play :).

I hope all of you are doing well.

Take Care

01.03.07 - {Recording in 2 Weeks}

Happy New Year!

Here is a quick update.

I will start recording in two weeks. Yippee! I'm still going through the final process of what songs are going to be on the CD and which will not.

I'm leaving for LA in February to see what happens.

May play an acoustic show somewhere soon or even another show with my friend AJ who has a phenomenal voice.

Well, thats it for now.

I hope all of you are happy and healthy.

peace + love

12.7.06 - {Oh My Gosh! I'm Still Alive?}
Current mood: tired

Indeed, it has been quite some time since I have even typed a letter onto this myspace account. Actually, it has been a couple of months! Don't be alarmed though, because I am actually still breathing, which is always a plus in my situation. ;).

Anyhoo, as you may have predicted, I have some updates for you.

New Songs, New Sound, New EP!
Yes! I have been working on new material for awhile now. In fact, I have been working on songs for this EP since the summer. In total, I have probably written over 20 possible songs and discarded the majority of them and wrote new songs. I tend to have the habit of growing tired of my songs rather quickly and toss them if they don't say wow to me (yes, actually speak to me).

Even though I have scribbled out all of these songs, the EP is actually going to have 5 or 6 tracks. Although, before it was just going to have 4, so it went up somewhat. Hopefully, I will have 6 tracks, I'm still working on this one song that is being very difficult, but I shall break it soon. ;). It almost sounds like I am taming a stallion or something. Oh goodness.

When will this EP come out you ask? Well, I am still uncertain. I know I have been putting it off forever, but I am taking my time with this one so it comes out a little more with my voice. When January comes along, I will most likely start recording then. By that time, I believe I will have the music for the instruments written out and more of an overall idea of what I want each song to give out. If recording goes well and I stop being so critical over myself, the EP will probably be printed and ready to be purchased in February before I go to California!

I'm Going to California!
You read it correctly, I am heading back to my previous home town in California to do some more vocal and other music training. LA is only a couple of hours away, so if things go well and I am comfortable with playing guitar all by my lonesome infront of people in LA, I will attempt to go to Open Mics as well! Oh goodness! And I shall inform you and post the dates if that actually happens. Another goal of mine? I would like to play in the cafe' at Borders. That just sounds like a great deal of fun to me so I am going to see what I have to do to do that.

But I shall be in California for 3 months! So message me if your in Palm Springs or LA and maybe we can get coffee or something.

Upcoming Shows
Lately, I haven't been playing out much at all. I have been consumed by my work with my job and vocals. Although, I have an upcoming gig coming up, two shows. Actually, I am quite nervous about this because I am opening for Ray Charles' daughter, Sheila Raye Charles. Okay, she has a gorgeous rich voice and I am very excited, but also a bit nervous. The plan is for me to open up with some Christmas songs and I am going to possibly do some of my own as well. If I can get a back up guitarist, than it's endless what I could do! Anyways, if you would like to come see me play, it is @ Jayne Marie on Cross Lake (December 15th & 16th).

Surprises Ahead, Oh My!
Once I actually learn to control my thought process and remember to get something done, I will have a surprise for all of you! But you will just have to wait. When will this surprise be revealed? No clue. Maybe January, sometime in January. So sit tight and stare at the computer screen until it hurts! Really, I'm not kidding....

;)

Well I am really anticipating the recording of this new EP.
I hope all of you like it once I am finished with it.

Thank you for listening to my music and taking the time to read this very, very long blog.
;)

Take Care

Peace + Love

9.30.06 - {balancing books & instruments on my head}
Current mood: cheerful

Hello everyone,

I know it has been, yet again, quite some time since I have posted. So I apologize about that. Things have been super busy to the point where I like to now collapse on any comfy looking surfaces. Quite interesting actually, maybe it should be documented?...jk.

Well, there are some shows coming up. I'm going back to do some Open Mics to preview some of my newer songs because I am sure the chorus of No More Room Tonight has gotten rather annoying after a year. ;).

Other than that, some things will begin to progress within next month. As for my CD? I am not sure when I will have it released. Right now I have just been moving with motions of school and jumping out of that occassionally to write a song. Although, things should start moving a bit more steady shortly.

I may record a little acoustic track for you guys just so you can hear something new. Because the only newer song that is up is Change. The other songs, I wrote when I was 16 or 17. I'm now 20. So, my sound has changed quite a bit.

Some more interesting news! My friend Allison and I play music on KSCL 91.3 on Sunday @ 2pm - 4pm, so you should definately tune in if you're in Shreveport. The radio station is simply lovely, and a lot of people actually play really great music, so tune in randomly and catch a variety of things.

Well I must go back to the expansion of my brain (very painful process).

Take Care
