Just thought I would share this cute list I found on the Knight Agency blog this morning. :) It made me crack a smile at least.

Out of Gas (part 3)
Category: Life
This is just a link to a funny video that I saw on the net recently. It's a pardoy of our gas crisis here in Nashville. It shows Adolph Hitler as our leader trying to get the gas out to the rest of the city. Any of the larger areas/cities/counties he mentions are mostly the well to do areas that didn't have as much trouble getting gas as the rest of Nasvhille. (At least, so I have heard.)
http://blogs.nashvillescene.com/pitw/2008/09/inside_the_metro_bunker.php
Most of the stations have regular gas even if they don't have all the fuel grades back in stock yet. Although there are still a few stations that don't even have that. I am keeping my ultra-posh minivan full so I don't have to worry in case we have to make a trip to the hospital.

13 Things your mother WON’T tell you about pregnancy
Category: Life
Well, I have not blogged in a while, and I know it's not Thursday but I can't seem to get my mind off pregnancy and childbrith in general. So I am doing a Thursday 13 early. Maybe it's because of my own impending childbirth, but I thought I should have some fun with it and let you guys enjoy some of the wisdom most mothers don't share with their kids. ( At least mine didn't)
1. Childbirth hurts. A lot.
Mothers know better than to tell their kids about the pain of childbirth. If they told the full details, they would never get grandkids. I think it's also why we are able to forget so much. We have to forget to go through it a second time.
2. Stretch marks can be lessened or avoided by using cocoa butter.
3. Forget about wearing shoes and socks in the last trimester.
You can't reach your feet anyways. Bending over is near impossible. Sandals and flip flops can be quite fashionable.
4. It's the only time in your life when someone tells you that you are getting huge will be considered a compliment.
Live it up and enjoy an extra scoop of ice cream. (In fact, I enjoyed my dessert frequently before the rest of dinner.) Just ignore the other comments, about growing basketballs in your tummy and forget about how you look for the next year. You will get your body back eventually. Just not soon.
5.Everything you do or say right now can be blamed on the hormones.
I have had some real fun with this one, but am going to leave out those juicy details for now. Lol.
6. Pillows are your new best friend and will hep you get to sleep better than anything else.
Just prop them up againt every achy body part and use them to help support your back and tummy. It will help to make life a little more comfortable.
7. As much as you believe the baby will never come, that is one thing you can count on for sure. The baby will come eventually. Like it or not.
8. False labor is just as painful as real labor.
So how do you know the difference? Trust me. You'll know when the real thing hits.
9. Take the drugs when they offer them. There are no second chances.
If you don't have a high pain tolerance than take the drugs when they offer them. There is a point of no return, just like when you reach the top of a roller coaster. When you reach a certain point of being dilated, they will not give you any pain killers. I have known several people who had no choice, and arrived at the hopsital too late to even be offered the pain killers.
10. Double check the bag that HE helped you pack to go to the hospital, or pack it yourself.
Do I really need to explain this one? There are a few things that he is likely to forget. Including that you will be bleeding for the next 6 weeks and will need some pretty heavy duty pads to make it home comfortably. The hospital will usually provide adult diapers if you forget. Chocolate is one of the key items in my bags at home.
11. When you get to the last trimester, you will do anything to evict the baby from it's private womb. Anything and everything to breathe again.
12. At nine and a half months pregnant, this may be the only time in your life you go to the man in your life and beg for heavy, wild, rough sex--AND get turned down. Unless they feel sorry for you.
See rule 11. Supposedly sex helps the baby come faster due to the hormone in the sperm that will thin the cervix.
13. The months of discomfort from the pregnancy, the pain, the suffering--it's all worth it when you get to hold that little baby in your arms.
Not everyone handles it the same. Not everyone bonds immediately, but there is no greater satisfaction than being able to hold your own baby and welcome him or her into this world.
So do any of you have any words of wisdom to offer to the mothers to be of this world? I can't think of much else at this point. Although I am thinking of doing another blog about what to pack for the hospital to bring home your baby....lol
Chat with you all later! Missy

Out of Gas (part deux)
Ugh... I guess I have no excuse not to write today. I can't go anywhere. The city is out of gas. Yep. I am not kidding. I drove the length of our main street and every single gas station was out of gas. It's on the news that entire counties are dry of gas. Three of them in middle Tennessee (mine included).
I heard (after the fact) that a grocery store/gas station received gas that morning and it was out of gas by that afternoon. Crazy, huh?
Anarchy, baby. That's what this has come to.
The politicians are asking that the people not fill up or top off if they don't have to. Well, what happens when I run out and I can't even find a gas station to fill up in? I will run out of gas and be sitting on the side of the road. So, with just a 1/4 tank left, I am of course going to fill up. Even if it means a line.

I can understand the people who are scared enough to fill up their little 5 gallon gas tanks and are trying to keep their gas tanks full. Between the news and reality, it is enough to send anyone into a panic--and I am going to trust the system and not panic. I hear it's supposed to be back to normal by this Friday.
It was kind of funny and sad at the same time. People panic and are filling up everything they can with gas right now. Last week, there was a boat parked at one of the few gas stations that had gas in it. A boat!!! When more and more people are running out of gas and getting stranded on the freeway because they have to keep driving to the next exit just to find gas, these people are filling up their boat with gas. Ugh.
Now with the way things are, I wouldn't be surprised if I hear about an assault on the news later. "Angry mob attacks boat owner."
We didn't go anywhere last weekend and that is mostly because we didnt want to have to worry about where to find the gas. Hopefully things change soon. :) I am finding out from friends in other parts of the country that things are not like this everywhere. Just seems to be the worst in good old Tennessee...
Lucky us.

Well, my short story was just released and is now available to download on Phaze's website. I am about to go celebrate with a bowl of my most favorite flavor of ice cream, Moose tracks. It's basically a triple fudge ice cream. It's way better than a glass of champagne, in my humble opinion.
You must know my motto by now: You never can have enough chocolate in life. LOL.

But before I go indulge myself, I wanted to share a little about the book with you guys. You can read an excerpt on the website if you want to check out more.
A prequel to Dragon Heat, this is the story of how Isabella was born into this world.

Multiplication and women--Quick and funny quote
Quote for the day: 'Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.' So - if you give her crap, you will receive more sh*t than any one human being can handle.

Hurricane madness and gas prices
Funny how the hurricane affected so many people from such a wide distance this time with Hurricane Ike. I live in the state of TN, and normally we may get some rain after the storm has turned into a tropical depression. Nothing big and nothing worth worrying over, unless it could turn into a tornado.
This time, we didn't get much more than a few clouds. I never dreamt it could affect me personally. So I watched on the news from a distance, feeling sorry for the people that had lost their homes, their livelihoods, and some even lost their lives. I know that many gas stations had emptied out on the exit route of the people evacuating TX.

Then at the beginning of the next week, I had to fill up for gas and realized it affected me too. People had made a run on the gas stations days before the storm hit. Not that I noticed. I try not to panic in situations like this, but this was not good. It was complete chaos.
Gas prices shot up $1-$1.5 a gallon. In one day! Ouch. When the news says that gas went up $0.15 a gallon on average across the nation because of the hurricane, that says that the South took most of the hit. The rest of the country isn't as affected.
I went to a few stations, shopping for the lowest price of course, only to discover that quite a few gas stations were completely sold out. Cars were circling the driveways because there was no way to know they were out of gas until you got to the pump. They never took down the signs. What is up with that? Finally I gave up and paid over $4.5 a gallon just to get what a gas station had left. Premium gas. Several places are up to $5 a gallon now.
The gas stations should have a some kind of warning out front. A sign that says they take cash, credit cards, gold boullion, stocks, bonds and your first born child.
It turns out this could be blamed on many problems. People rushing to fill up all their cars at once was a problem, but so is having no reserves. The gas attendants are unsure of when they can get more gas.
90% of the gas we depend on here in the Southeast is from the Gulf. I have a friend who works on a rig all the way into Louisiana. They are being paid to stay home. Texas isn't the only problem. Although it would help if they could get the electrical turned back on at the refineries. No one even knows when the next shipments of gas will come.
They say that the price gouging laws will protect us, but do they really? First off, the consumers have to watchdog and turn those gas stations in. Second off, they don't return the money to the consumer. The heavy fines get paid to the government, so who benefits really? And if the government listens to the consumers whining about their wallet and their financial crisis, and imlements a price control over gas, that would limit the quantity of gas we could receive or that the big oil companies would be willing to sell to us as a state. It's a no-win situation. We have to pay what they charge us.
Gas is one of those non-elastic products. You need gas to get to work. You use the same amount whether the price is low or high. So the oil companies will have to raise prices in order to raise profits.
Makes me wonder how long this man-made emergency will last. I hope everyone in the affected areas will be able to go about their lives as normal again very soon. I am sorry about the people in TX and what happened. They were the first to open their doors to the people who were affected by Katrina. Now they are suffering too.
Along with the rest of the South.

The Rapture got a smoking hot cover!
Hi everyone! I know I haven't been real good about keeping everyone posted about all the great news coming up, but I had to share this. Kendra just got back to me with the cover art for The Rapture. It will be releasing Sep 22!

Here is a quick blurb to go along with it, so you know what it's about! This one is the smoking hot prequel to Dragon Heat. It tells just a little bit about how Isabella, the leader of the Elisaid, came to be born.
The lure of a demon lover is difficult to resist, and impossible to leave, because sex is highly addictive. Sex with a demon is known as the rapture, since it brings absolute pleasure so intense that it is almost painful. But is the price worth gambling your life and your freedom?

How many of you use ereaders to read your books?
I have been drooling over these toys for awhile, but I am still kind of outdated myself. using my laptop or stationary computer to read my ebooks or reading the print books.
Everyone seems to be talking about the convenience of the ereaders. I am just now realizing that editors and agents use them to read their manuscripts and also to look over the releases they want to read. I was lucky enough to meet up with the ediors and owners of Samhain about a month ago over dinner, and everyone of them whipped out their new Sony ebook readers.
It seems like there are quite a few reasons to get one. You can buy and download books on the spot, without an internet connection. You can follow blogs up to the minute. You can convert your other ebooks to readable files for $0.1 each to the sony reader and take them anywhere. It's convenient, fast and relativeley inexpensive for the ebooks. With the added benefit of being able to store several hundred books in the memory versus lugging around some very heavy books in your luggage.
So of course, I want one.
Anybody have any suggestions? What may make a good starter reader? Not too complicated and not too expensive. It's more than likely going to get broken by the kids before it's a year old, but I still want one. Some of these readers are as complicated as buying another computer. Some are simple. Some--like the Sony reader cost hundreds of dolllars.
So what did you all start out with? Or would you suggest?
