Here is the final version of my last bacon creation. I swear it is sinfully good!!
INGREDIENTS: 1/3 cup white sugar 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 cup corn syrup 1/4 cup whiskey (I used barley whiskey, but you can use bourbon or even rum) 3 eggs 1/3 cup melted butter 1 cup pecans (coarsely chopped is best) 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips 1 pound of crispy and coarsely chopped thick cut BACON!! 1 pie crust (I make my own and use half butter and half bacon grease, both chilled)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
Toss all ingredients besides bacon, chocolate chips and pecans into a bowl and beat until creamy. Add bacon, chips and pecans and stir. Pour mix into pie crust and bake in preheated oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean (about 45 minutes or so).
Let cool before serving. Eat at your own risk. If you really want to off yourself, serve it with vanilla ice cream.
Disclaimer: I am not resposible for any health problems that result from eating this pie.
A year ago today, the Godfather of Soul left the world stage.
Two days ago I found a James Brown Christmas record in an antique store. SCORE!! That's the only Christmas music I feel like listening to, especially now.
And if you hadn't noticed, the holiday is all about bacon for me. Last night I went to a friend's house and we made chocolate chip bacon cookies. Bacon and chocolate is unbelievably good! I turned my brother (the other weirdo in the photo) on to it last time I visited and he is making bacon toffee with chocolate on top. Can't wait to try that one!!
Not hanging around this place...
Current mood: annoyed
Sorry to disappoint anyone, but this place has gone down the loo with the spam messages. I get a lot of messages and it's gotten to be about 80% spam. I don't have time or patience for it. Maybe I'll give it a month and check in again in case it's a problem they can fix.
Oh.. and the new episode is supposed to air on November 14th. This obviously is subject to change, but that's the latest.
Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury that set me back a couple of weeks with work, I will not be going to Mexico to race with the Desert Dingos. But YOU can get involved by helping raise money for the International Diabetes Foundation. You can now donate to the Drive-a-thon via our website. Feel free to pass it along to anyone you know who might be interested.
So I just joined up with the Desert Dingo team to race the Baja 1000. Not only is this a dream of mine, but we're racing for diabetes awareness. This is what ended up killing my grandfather, the only other wrencher and car enthusiast in my family. If you are interested in helping, we will have links to donate to either the car or the diabetes fund (they are entirely separate) up shortly. I'll keep you all posted. In the meantime, you can follow our progress through our blog.
