Yeah!! Our first Tattoo Show complaint!!
Current mood: aggravated

Just thought you guys should read this if maybe you had the same questions...  Go ahead and repost if you think somebody else is feeling the same way...

tyler:

i just wanted to say that i think it’s pretty fucking ridiculous that you guys handed out one award per winner.   you have to remember that there is an artist behind that work, along with the person who has it.   then, when i asked about a second plaque, i have to fucking pay for it?  so we pay ten bucks a day to get in (or twenty for the weekend), and go for three days, and still have to pay for an extra plaque?  maybe you wouldn’t understand, seeing as how you dont even have any tattoos, how the appreciation of body artwork is for two people, not one.   of course i gave mine to my artist, because he deserves it, but fuck, you would really fucking think after all, this is a TATTOO show, maybe appreciate the fucking people who show up, give you their time, give you their money, and not be such a god damn mother fucking cheap ass.

Dear (name withheld),

I guess you have never put on a tattoo show, or had to pay for any of the shit that goes with it.  Go down to your local trophy shop and price out a plaque, then tell me if asking a shop or the contestant winner to pay a measly couple of bucks to help with the cost, is such a cheap ass thing to do! I don’t know how many tattoo shows you’ve been to but next time you do look a little closer.  There is either a cost for registration and or sponsorship for the the awards/trophies. We had neither!

As far as the admission price is concerned.  I really can’t see what the big fuckin’ deal is!  Go to any larger event and see there are charging $20+ to get in the door.  One of the biggest events in Cali is at Pomona with 300+ vendors and not one shred of viable entertainment.  I went over and beyond to fly fuckin’ midgets any pay the little fuckers to bleed for you guys.  I don’t know the last time you rented a midget a dwarf, a sideshow act, a wrestling ring, audio equipment, booth setups, radio advertising, print media, an entire convention center, the nautical lagoon, event staff, event insurance, clean up and whatever other bullshit I’m just too tired to list!  Don’t get me wrong I appreciate your $20 admission and hope you can make it next year, but honestly your blood money didn’t even cover that damn award!!

It’s unfortunate that there are people out there that still want to put people out of their "cool circle" just cause of their lack of a shared "look".  This weekend I was a promoter first and foremost!  I never pretended that I was some kind of tattoo know-it-all!  I have never shied away from saying I have virgin skin, and will probably stay that way.  At this point getting one now would just be chasing what everybody else is doing.  None of that shit really make a difference in putting together an event.  It’s like saying that just cause you rock tight-ass Wranglers and a fuckin’ cowboy hat you can ride a bull! I have a shit load of friends and associates with tattoos and this tattoo show was for them and all those who want to actually have some good times in Havasu!

Although this is the first MySpace complaint I have had to deal with and probably not the last (just turned on the computer!?) I can tell you this...  It’s the simpleminded people that that want to dwell on the stupid shit, like a damn extra fuckin’ award, rather than the fact that something was put together here in Havasu that hasn’t been done here before.  So stop complaining and being so quick too judge.  I’m not perfect, the magazine isn’t, and neither was the show. If you would have started the message with some advice on how getting two awards would be fantastic, I would been thanking you for the input and the support of a great event that I and a lot of other people worked very hard to put together.  Instead I’m writing this letter defending myself and being no better than lowering myself to your level by calling you names and judging you.

Oh well... I’m glad you came and I hope you put an extra couple of $$ in the vendors pockets cuz they are some great guys and really help things go smoothly.

See you next year (or maybe not)

Tyler

P.S. If you still want that extra award for your wall, hit us up!  We would be glad to send one out to you, of course you’re still going to have to pay for it.

Knucklehead's!!!

click below to vist Knucklehead's!

If you would of told me three weeks ago that my raggedy ass bar in Desert Hills could have been transformed into anything other than the makeshift storage unit I had been using it for the last four years, I would have said Impossible!  Well it obviously wasnt impossible, and what was put together was probably Desert Hills first mini Punk-Fest.  This last Monday the newest spot on the north side of Havasu was born! With over 70+ (according to the fire dept.) in attendance, Knuckleheads got its christening of sweaty kids and reverb.  Although a tremendous success, none of this would have even have been possible if it werent for the hard work and fateful crossing of paths of many people.  This letter is to thank those that would otherwise go unmentioned...

Will/Cross Bones Clothing
The event originally began not only to help out the bands themselves, but also help one of our favorite advertisers (Cross Bones Clothing) to get the word out for his new spot of business. Nothing like throwin a Punk Rock show to unveil a new store! It turned out he's actually keeping his old spot (inside now) with Frank at the Havasu Underground.  His move to the inside will let him carry all the great stuff from before and a lot new stuff that will knock your boots off!  Will put a lot of his own sweat into fixing up the building, but we're positive that keeping his shop at the Underground will only do great things for the both of them!  And as fate would have it, having a clothing store occupying most of the building would have meant shows on any type of continuous basis would have been impossible, and truly would have really only one real show left on July 1st (the Grand Opening of Cross Bones).  With all this work done on the place it would be a shame to let it go to waste!
Desert Hills Fire Dept.
These guys were great!!  They originally came by to answer an anonymous complaint lodged against the event, and ended up hangin around and enjoyin the music scene. Thankfully, I was able to get some phone time with another one of our advertisers (Frank/Havasu Underground) prior to the event.  He filled me in on safety concerns and other mundane paperwork needs.  That isn't to say it went smoothly, we had to delay the opening and hour or so for some minor touch ups and a trip to Home Depot.
The Kids
Desert Hills had definitely never seen anything like you guys before!  To be honest after seeing the carloads on kids hangin around in the heat waitin for the show to start, even I was concerned.  Thanks for respecting the spot and for your wadded up dollars and sweaty change.  I know the bands loved the fact that you all came out on a Monday night to support the scene and make sure they get a little gas money to get them to the next town.
The Bands, Friends, & Family!!
Couldnt have had a show without you guys!  Whether it was the one-armed cleaning machine (Nicole), the Resident electrician (Dan), the infamous Heavy Hitter (Ray) workin the lot, or the rest of the Resident Saints for getting down and dirty, and last but not least Flatfoot 56 (all the way from Chicago) for tearin the joint up with our Bros.  My hats off to all of you guys!!!
