New Moisturizer Music!
Current mood: animated
Category: Music
I just uploaded a bunch of new tracks on our Moisturizer page which we recorded last year in Philly with Richard Nichols (The Roots, Al Green) and which have just been mixed by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Beth Orton, Athlete, Liam Frost); one of the songs, Baby 81, is here, but if you're dilly dallying on myspace (who isn't?) please take a few minutes to go over to the Moisturizer page and check out the new songs. And if you're not "friends" with Moisturizer, um, it's a love me love my dog situation, so please sign up.
The ?uestofication of Reverend Vince Monday Nights
Current mood: rockin
So, for those of you who don't know, every Monday night I play in a sweet, special club called Black Betty in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with Reverend Vince Anderson & His Love Choir. We've been playing there every Monday for 4 years and I've been playing with him once a week for 11 years; in fact, my first gig with him was in May 1997 at Brownies (I STILL miss Brownies!), although I don't remember the date. Anyway, Monday nights are always a blast, I love the band both personally & musically, love the delicious food at Black Betty and love Rev. Vince. I still think it's miraculous to play for a small sea of dancing people at 1:30am through the small hours of Tuesday morning. And since the Rev is a Rev, the miraculous is something he always likes to acknowledge, rejoice and invoke. So when, midway through the 2nd set, we received a surprise visit from one Mr. Ahmir ?uestlove, to whom our drummer Torbitt (from Chin Chin!) graciously handed his sticks during our rendition of Johnny Cash's "Water Into Wine", it did seem like some kind of divine 11th anniversary gift in the form of proof that miracles are havable ..... Questo tore the fucking roof off and everyone at Black Betty went nuts, including the communally soloing Love Choir. Everyone left feeling a little extra blessed and once again I concurred with Cyrus from The Warriors: Miracles is the way it ought to be! Thanks Ahmir!!! We all love you!
