I'll teach you the electric slide

My friends and I performing the Electric Slide.  I hope the dancers in the audience (ahem Kenny and Ra Boogie) don't laugh at our total lack of coordination.

also, the guy who purportedly 'invented' the Electric Slide got this video removed from YouTube via the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. He says:
Any video that shows my choreography being done incorrectly is being removed - I don't want future generations having to learn it wrong and then relearn it as I am being faced with now because of certain sites and ppl that have been teaching it incorrectly and without my permission. That's the reason I compyright protected it in the 1st place.
He also got this stilt walker's Electric Slide from the Today Show removed from YouTube.

Check out his personal site...it's totally c. 1997 in there. He claims to have won on The Dating Game...and to have also invented Poppin, Lockin, the Robot, and Breakdancing (!!!!!!!).

God I love the Internet.

In case you're wondering just what I'm all about....
Current mood: calm

Tonight I saw Allison and I was thinking how funny it was that ye olde Myspace brought us back togethre when we haven't seen each other in literally half our lives.  Anyways, presuming Myspace is likely to repeat this incident, I figured those of you are just arriving or returning into the picture may want to know What's My Deal?

- I live with my dude Jason (aka Jasno) and our kickass 12 lb Manx Cat, Elliott in a 1930s house in Portland.
- Elliott (aka Schmelliott, aka Schmelly, aka Schmellybutt, aka Schmellycat, aka Schtinker, aka Schtinkbutt) has a short Stumpy tail nub, is an orange/brown tabby, and kicks your ass AND your mamas ass. No, serious. She likes to play hide and seek, cuddle only when it is not going to annoy you, and get high on catnip.
- I ride my bike about 2/5 of the time, walk about 1/5 of the time, take the bus and drive about 1/5 of the time (total), and the other 1/5 is random shit like floating in water, scooting around on snow in my ass, XC skiing, mountain climbing etc.
-I work full time at a kickass legal agency (oradvocacy dot org) that operates as Oregon's federally designated protection and advocacy office.  Mostly I inform people about their specific legal rights that pertain to their situation and evaluate whether their needs fit into our agency's goals and priorities for legal representation. This means I get to talk, email and TTY conversate with really interesting people all day long who unfortunately hvae really shitty problems (that ensure that I am vote early and vote often, in favor of more taxation, more government services et al.) and (hopefully) help them out a little bit in knowing their legal rights and following through on them.
-I go to school full time at Portland State University as a linguistics major also pursuing a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate (ima go abroad...eventually)
- When I got off work in the evenings and I'm not doing homework, I'm likely to: be going out drinking, be going out to movies at Portland's many theaterpubs, going roller skating, going to weirdass places, lying on the couch in a blanket and reading for days on end, drinking rooibos tea, eating Vietnamese food, or adventuring in one way or another.

What I've been up to...
Current mood: awake

In case you're wondering:

- For the first time in my life (as a financial adult, anyway) I am debt free. DO YOU HEAR THAT, AMERICA?!

-In order to remedy that situation, because not having debt is plain ol unpatriotic, I've applied to Portland State University to attend full time 2006-2007 -and the subsequent financial aid that that requires (read: DEBT!)  This means I'll be in school with A'damn, Saafi, Tina and a bunch of others. I guess we'll have to have study groups at the bar, kids... :)

- Last week I climbed Unicorn Peak, 6971' in the magnificent Tatoosh range, a range of shorter mountains (i.e. about half the size) just south of Rainier. This included a 40' rock pitch (climbing) and rappel down...then thousands of feet of glissading down on smooth snow :) :) :)

- A few weeks ago I climbed Mt. Hood, 11,239' which was great and exhausting. I feel excited to continue a tradition that my grandfather began.

Plans for summer:
- Get family stuff sorted out and figure out place for my brother David to live in the Bay Area
- visit North Carolina, climb in the Black Mountains/Pisgah National Forest
- river rafting
- Team Oregon BRT class - motorcycle license
- Camping, backpacking and hiking
- Return all library books on time and do not rack up the omnipresent Late Return Fees
- Read for fun while I can!

On that note, I am off to watch a Johnny Cash documentary and read my William O. Douglas book. And change my shirt, which stinks of Bar and B.O. Becuuse you needed to know that.

Red letter day
Current mood: ecstatic

Yesterday was a red letter day overall.

1. I ordered my new Canon Powershot S80 (as a result of the not-so-red-letter event of my Powershot S30's not-so-untimely death).

2. I got one of my climb cards back and will--weather permitting--HOPEFULLY be climbing Mt. Hood in a few weeks with the Mazamas, via the Hogsback route, under a gibbous waning moon. Weather permitting. (fingers crossed)

3. Brett Favre announced he is returning to the Packers for the 2006 season. I am hoping we can get tickets for away games in Seattle and San Francisco against the Mariners and 49ers so I can see #4 in action before he retires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tatuajes XXX
Current mood: hungover

My aunt in Mexico sent me an email titled "Tatuajes XXX" (x-rated tattoos). The attached X-rated tattoos were in the form of a Power Point presentation.  It was actually body-paint, and more r-rated than x, but if you're interested in body-painted-nekkid-ladies and have no desire to go to Burning Man, let me know and I'll forward it. This causes me no end of amusement.
