The Meaning of Mooncricket revised 2008

Many people ask me why do I use the name Mooncricket. They tell me that it is a racial bad word like the "N" word.
Before I get into the story how I got the name and why I use it I'll break down the true meaning.

THE "N" WORD.
This is old news to just remind those kids and parents with kids about these two words. I had to bring this up again because yesterday I was in the grocery store and these two African American kids of the age of 10 or 12 or so kept acting like they were gangsta talk, using the word nigga over and over. This was in Richmond, CA. I look at the people in line behind them who happen to be an old white couple probably in their 60's or 70's.
I was thinking to my self that they may be confused of why these young kids were using that word and I wondered to my self if the old couple ever used that word back during them racist times. Well not to say that the times racist are 100% over but I speak for my own family. My own Aunty who grew up in North Carolina who is in her 60's uses the "N" word. She is black and she yells at her grand children and calls them little niggers. I sometimes tell her that she shouldn't be saying that and she just says that is what they are because they always in trouble. Now to hear your own family member say that makes me wonder about people today. Why do families of color use these words among themselves as if it is now slang?
This is old news but just a reminder for those who still go by the Webster Dictionary.
Recently I checked and I don't see this word in the current dictionary but this is what they did a while back but I think they got rid of it completely.

There has been a change in Webster's Dictionary. Kweisi Mfume, President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), recently gave a speech at Virginia Tech.
Everyone was informed that a landmark decision was made last week with the people at Merriam-Webster Dictionary. They have recognized the error of their ways.
So, beginning with the next edition, the word nigger will no longer be synonymous with African-Americans. It shall be duly noted that it's a racial slur and not what African-Americans themselves are. Along with this, all racial and religious slurs will finally be indicated for what they really are - cruel and evil slurs too often used to degrade people.
Please share this information with others.
This change should serve notice to people, corporations, etc., that when individuals stick together to right a wrong, a change is going to come. This wasn't just a victory for African-Americans, but for everyone.
Now if we can only get some of our young black men to stop using it so freely...then we will truly win. Pass it along so we make sure that we all know the deal....
If you look under the word "white" you will get about 65 positive affiliations such as "pure" "clean" etc, and about 3 or so negative ones. If you look up the word "black" it has about 90 NEGATIVE connotations such as "dark" "dirty" etc and like 5 positive ones.
This is not in any blatant way racist, BUT if you look at the underlying meaning and what these words represent and who people associate with which word.
But at least one word has been fixed....
Folks need to stop calling them selves Niggas.

A word that everyone else is afraid to define except in utter seriousness, for fear of being branded a racist, in total IGNORANCE of the colloquial usage of the word, its characterization in popular culture, and the populations of people it is used most by.
2. Nigger
A crude, disparaging term for Africans and African-Americans. Some believe it was originally only used to describe Nigerians (miss pronunciation of "Niger") while some believe it was a slang variant of "Negro".

Its use by and among blacks is not always intended or taken as offensive, but except in sense 3, it is otherwise a word expressive of racial hatred and bigotry.
1. Nigga
Nigga is a word that evolved from the derogative term "nigger". Tupac best defined the distinction between the two.
NIGGER- a black man with a slavery chain around his neck.
NIGGA- a black man with a gold chain on his neck.
2. Nigga
From one black man to another meaning to say; homie, brotha, etc. N: (ethnic slur) offensive name for a Black person; "only a Black can call another Black a nigga" [syn: nigga, spade, coon, jigaboo, nigra]
From my research as a small kid this is what I found in a book I read. Original dictionary term for Nigger before the slaves came to America Nigger was a meaning for an uneducated person. Person of IGNORANCE. The slaves received the name nigger because they were not allowed to go to school and be educated. Were not allowed to read. So nigger must of been the slang for the uneducated slaves. The original word before nigger was Mooncricket.
Al Sharpton Buried the "N" word as he announced last year. One year later does anyone remember or care? I guess it can't be officially buried until the President takes over the air waves like he usually does and announces the word to be buried.

MOONCRICKET: Derogatory term for "colored people". Basically the same as saying Nigger
Dude...look at those mooncricket's in that back alley playing NIGGA- common word used by black folks today and often used by other groups of many colors.
THE REAL MEANING OF MOONCRICKET: MOONCRICKET: Run away slave under the moonlight. The use of the moon to see where they are going through out the night. Mo.. Run away slave.
SO WHY I USE MOONCRICKET FOR MY NAME? 1986 I was given the name Mooncricket by racist folks when I was 12. Every time I went up for a lay up in 6th grade basket Ball they would yell out "Mooncricket!" I didn't know what they meant at first and then I flipped it to a comic character representing me what I went through as Nigger was commonly used in my face. As I went on my own after high school it was tuff to find work as an artist and even the regular 9 to 5 work. They profile you before they learn your skills. I would only get the labor jobs. A cook at Denny's working the late shift. I was the only cook for many people who ordered the $1.99 Grand slam. Working many warehouses and temp jobs. Concrete, scraping tar off rooftops in the hot sun. Working 15 hour days 6 to 7 days a week at a winery for 9.50 and hr. Driving forklifts blowing out my knees trying to load trucks on time. The list goes on.
I was a modern slave and I was never happy with my work, as my mind never sleeps with ideas and creativity for art, screenplays and filming. So it was my goal to sacrifice my life style save and get out. I then quite the 9 to 5 world in 2001 and from 2001 till 2007 I sacrificed my life style and living conditions as I worked on my film documentary "The Boy Connection" and work shooting Weddings, special events and learning the hard way of Hollywood business. I might have made my self feel crazy and others around me but my dedication to my art and freedom with the Guidance of the Lord and the Moon landed me in the right place. I can now say I am happy with what I do and I work 9 to 5 doing what many said I could never do. I can now say I love my job, as it is a part of me. I might not be 60% where I want to be as my goals are still in the works. "Mooncricket" I kept as a dance name to this day and then I formed Mooncricket Films LLC. So yes I'm a runaway Slave and I can say I am a Mooncricket.
Taking the negative and flip it to positive. You see Mooncricket is a lost word and is forgotten so I never tell anyone the meaning unless they ask.
Nigger- The meaning is very clear and no other object.
Mooncricket- Moon in the sky cricket that chirps at night. Name becoming a slang for runaway slaves.
1985: "Get that nigger" as they chased me with foxtails being thrown in my Afro. Once they go in they take all night as mom picks them out. But I'm still that mooncricket that runs at night that refuses to work for the man, who chooses to lead for him self and challenge the man where ever he stands.
Now tell me how Nigga is being used as a positive message and what does a 55 and up old black woman or man would have to say about the word nigga. This word was used among them selves during the time of the sixties but what do you think of the word used today. I ask this because when I'm at a b-boy jam or skate park and I hear a 9 year old kid, black, white, Asian, Hispanic say "nigga" in every sentence. Do they know what they are saying and why? I know but what do you think and how can you educate them from saying such words.
As a filmmaker my goal is to be recognized as a filmmaker and not to be labeled for the color of my skin but as a filmmaker. Not another Spike Lee but a filmmaker like any other white filmmaker that is not labeled for his skin but for his art.

I shot this footage in 2002 but I believe Jayrawk or Amp pet it together from my raw footage I did for True to The Game. In the footag eis Jayrwak, Machine before he broke out and Abe from Flexible Flave.
Goapele live in concert "Butterfly kisses" For those that ask me how this was done I shot with one camera and filmed 6 or more or her shows that is why you see here in multiple outfits. I just edit it to match as one show.
Commercial for fitness center I was the DP and had fun shooting this commercial.
This was something I did for Alien Ness. It seems that everywhere I go I see this guy burning up all the circles. 39 years old and still ripp'n it. All you hip-hop kids that are barly 20 that tell always say you to old to start bboying, well look at this guy and pay attention.

A short animation I made back in 1997 out of being broke and bored and wanting to film something so I decided to play with my toys. I animated it with the frame-by-frame record mode on the VCR, ghetto style. But it worked. I used green screen experimenting knowing that one day I will be able to add background some how. Well now 8 years later I am currently doing that. I'm digitally re-mastering this old cheesy flick and also created a story out of it back then. I will keep folks posted on the final product but enjoy the original sample for now. A video I did back in 2000 for a club. They used this video to play on the screen during their fabric events. Those were the most beautiful evenings and beautiful folks of the bay in San Francisco at the Justice League.

This was my first test with the Sony High Definition HVR-Z1U that I got to test out 5 months before the camera was available 2004. I used my frined to help me as she just walked around in the shots because I couldn't find anyone as they didn't believe I had the camera until after I sent it back to Sony after having it for three weeks. I currently own the camera now so keep looking for my new stuff.

In friendships and relationships there are many ways of being real examples for being real? "Actions speak louder than words." We may preach softness as the ideal firmness, but when or "what is" Hits. Just a thought of what our purpose as people are to be as we come together in fellowship or friendship. Ideals, principles they tell you of what should be and about maturity leads to hypocrisy.
Like I said "Actions speak louder than words." Meaning when we talk it is our actions that will display who we are as well as our words. As in Maturity, we are grown and we know what to expect, and wonder do friends know what they really want?
Maturity does not mean to become a captive of conceptualization. So who do I want to meet? The real friends I already have that relate to this and the new friends to be that can be real with me.
If I'm there friend for what I do and not for who I am as there is no effort acted on their side than I'm here for there needs and my needs are to have a possitve voice to moditvate and ears to listen so I can feel good, smile, relax, look forward, and to continue to stay productive. But if I'm only the producer and their the actor then I guees that is when we can say that we are only business. Or I'll refer you to the yellow pages. There is no actor but the actor but the action, there is no experiencer but the experience. There is no dance with out the music. Don't take your friends for granted because they may not be there the next time you need them.
With out struggle and or what ever is going in life and in friendships the effort to save what ever is left is to imply the effort towards a goal. What is your goal? What is it you want, you may know what you want, so if people want to make the effort than have a goal and a purpose. I always knew what I wanted since the 4th grade and I knew what my sacrifice would be. Once I finished high school and I continue to have that drive even when I have to crash through road blocks that slow me down. Just like what happened here when my page was hacked, I never gave up.
I do it for the love of it as an art. It is all about the creativity and the passion and love for what you do. You can be broke and have nothing but money wont stop you from creating and money isn't happiness, as long as you can eat. Create what you see and not sit think and dream about what you want to make and think you have to have money to do it. You may not be able to do it all or go far or leave the door but you can always create by just doing it, make it happen and be happy doing it. Make it your canvas, as this is my canvas and let your eyes guide you through the lens as your airbrush. If you see the painting in the sky as the sun drops and it is just you alone then it is yours to remember and enjoy those moments or capture in it anyway to share forever. .. . . . . .
So who do I want to meet, that would be the ones who inspire me who are not here in the flesh. Jesus Christ, James Brown, Otis Redding and Bruce Lee.

I'm back folks. The real Mooncricket/ My page was hacked

Myspace is has been deleting allot of peoples pages for weeks and more this week than ever because of people using Profile watcher. Also one of the phisher hackers has been caught and sewed by myspace this week. But there are many more out there still hitting up our pages.
Be careful on myspace as many like myself have been hacked/phished or hijacked. This is happening to people from small number of friends all the way to the big numbers of friends tha you may have listed on your page may make you more vulnerable.
Many of you may or may not know that my page was hacked/phished and they made my page into Mooncricket Modeling agencie instead of Mooncricket Films. That spammed the bulletins with crazy stuff and tried to trash my name with a 17year old female who was a fake on my page. I was lucky to get my page back because I never gave up after mypsace finally got rid of the hacker. MOONCRICKET
Myspace calls it phishing, that is when you think you are on one website, but were really redirected to a third party website that has the intention of stealing your login information. Whenever it looks like you were logged out of MySpace.com, please check the web address bar to make sure you are still on MySpace.com before entering your login information. If you are ever unsure, just type back in 'www.myspace.com' before entering in your login information.
The same goes for EBay, Paypal or any bank account that you may bank with. If you are with EBay, Paypal or do any banking .. and if you receive an email from them, do not sign in through the link to your emails. Go to your URL and sign in through the official web site. Your links to these sites could be legit but don't take chances. This happened to me with paypal last year through my email and when I signed in they received my password and got bought things with paypal.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IF YOU THINK YOU MAY BE PHISHED
They tried to get me again yesterday but I'm on to them now. This is what would apear after clicking on there image after they sent me a message. As you can see it is not a real log in to myspace it is a 3rd party that will reveal your password if you try and log in if you think you were suddenly logged out. Look at the URL in the image and you will see it does not start with myspace and it doesn't have the google name on it. Compare this image with the one below it. The one below it is the official myspace sign in. Log off the internet and get back on and make sure you sign in only through myspace home page to be safe. Fake sign in page that will give the phisher your password.
You can see the difference as you can see there is no Powererd by Google logo on the top one. This one here is real but I still would log out and sign back in on the one below.

PROFILE WATCHER IS AGAINST MYSPACE POLICY For the last 2 weeks people have been sending these comments of myspace tracker. If you are sending out comments to peoples pages to sign up for the myspace profiler you are taking a risk. It is against myspace rules and it invades people's privacy. If you are wondering why so many peoples pages are getting deleted this is one of them. Myspace can detect who is using any kind of myspace trackers and they will delete anyone who is using it.
You may not even know your page is hacked or phished because from what many have told me they tell me they did not send me a comment with the profile sun character. I told them to check their sent messages and they did. They said their sent messages were deleted. That means their page is being used by the phisher who is sending out these comments. It is now getting out of hand so please repost these messages so it doesn't happen to you and your friends.
Also DO NOT GO TO THESE LINKS if you recieve these kind of messages. They are another attempt of Phishing by the hacker that will take your page.

Ok these people are flooding my page with comments like this. Please do not except these comments. If you are accepting comments like this from your friends then write or call your friend and tell them that this is a scam.
Myspace trackers give them your password. Yes it may seem like the harmless hacker/phisher but it is not. They will do this and you wont even know it. Check your sent messages and you will see all the messages they had sent these profiler comments to. Once they get your page they go after all your friends.
What is the point?
Well once they have your myspace password they will then try and see if it is the same password as your email. Do not use your same password as your email. If they get to your email then they will look for your online banking information. Once they have that they will try and see if the password and email will work on in your bank account and get your money.
So yes this is real and I have many personal friends that told me what had happened to them. So that I wrote and told them someone is using their page and they said they were at work. So I changed their password for them.
Any kind of myspace trackers/profile watch/ anything that allows you to see who is looking at your page is against myspace policy. Also invasion of privacy.
If you notice that allot of peoples pages have been deleted this is one of the very many reasons. Once they detect you using these trackers well not trying to scare you but possbly you can get deleted.
If you have this already delete all comments like this off your page and change your password just in case.

This is a common message that most of us recieve from phished/hacked accounts. They are the same messages from many different users. It looks harmless if you were to respond to them and say stop spamming or hey friend change your password, but don't even respond. Below you will see what happens.
This is what it looks like when you reply to the message, there is a hidden code. I blured the code so no one tries to use it. But this is a sample how many people are getting their pages phished or hacked. These hidden codes are not just links anymore they are now becoming messages. Even if someone is just saying hello and you do not know them and they could possibly be a friend of your but their page might be phished/hacked.
Just hit reply that is it, do not send reply just view reply to make sure their is no hidden code. If so then delete the message and do not respond. This is the same for comments that they leave on your page that have hidden codes, do the sam with the comments as well.
You can see some more tips on what to look for to prevent this from happening to you by reading my blog on my page. My page was phished and they deleted everything on my page and my appearance so I am making sure I warn everyone else since I never was.
