MOONSPELL U.S. STREET TEAM NOTICE

MOONSPELL U.S.
STREET TEAM NOTICE:
To: The Moonspell United States Street Team

From: Mike Gaspar, Drummer of Moonspell, Patricia Mitchell, Director of the Moonspell United States Street Team, and Nina Avery, SPV Record label Liason.

Dear Deputy Director, Street Teamers, Chapter Leaders, and other Interested Parties:

As most of you know, the Moonspell U.S. Tour with Danzig and Dimmu Borgir is getting close, and there is much work to be done. I have been in almost constant contact with Mike Gaspar, and Nina Avery, and we have several things lined up, for the "Moonspell Mafia" to take advantage of, utilize, and put into effect for the good of the Band.

1. If you haven't been informed yet, there is a contest going on for FREE tickets, through SPV. Yes, some lucky persons will be able to catch the show, for FREE! It's simple...make a "flyer"...or download ours, print them out, then pass them around! How easy is that?!? Some great ideas for places to hand them out are: parking lots full of people (with permission), tattoo parlors, tobacco shops, record shops, liquor stores, nightclub patrons, friends, strangers, people who YOU know personally, who like Moonspell, just about anyone you come into contact with, even in line at the grocery store. Yes, I have done that, too! LOL Just make sure if you are doing a public area, to get permission first, if possible.

Then, take a picture of yourself handing them out, or drag a buddy along, and make him take the pictures! Be original! Be different!

2. It's time for SPV to send out their "stuff"...yes, they send posters, postcards, whatever...straight to YOUR DOORSTEP! ~~BUT~~ YOU have to send your address to SPV, or they wont know who to send the materials to, okay?

3. Do you have friends, or family members, in the music industry? Maybe a cousin who DJ's in Ohio, or something...a friend who works tables (record tables) at a local nightclub...well, it's time to put the buzz in their ears, even if they have never heard of Moonspell...make them AWARE of Moonspell!

4. If the tickets are on sale in YOUR part of the country, get in there, and BUY them NOW, before they sell out, then it may be too late! Check out ticketmaster, or another online ticket sales website.

5. Pester, pester, pester! It's time to use that phone for something easy! This is easier than prank-calling 400 pizzas to an enemy's door! Why? Because even if they know who you ARE, they probably wont get MAD! So...call your local Record/CD shops, your local radio stations, and request Moonspell (pick a favorite song, and hound a station to play it!)...nicely, but be persistent! At record shops, call and ask if they have Moonspell, the new "Night Eternal" album. If they say they don't have it, ask WHEN they will be getting it in stock, because..."you really are my favorite CD store, and I would hate to have to shop elsewhere, to get what I want." Even if you have the CD already, THEY should have it IN STORE.

Well, there it is...some of my favorite ways to get attention for a Band that means so much to so many!

Let's PROVE how loyal and consistent we are as fans, and go out htere, and get the buzz going!

Take Care!

Patricia Mitchell

Director, Moonspell United States Street Team, and Coordinator U.S. Street Team on Tour.

Update Summer (almost over)

Brother wolves, sister moon:

....It was long Summer, we have gone almost everywhere in Europe, most of it was excellent (Graspop, rock em all Athens,  MOR CZ, M'era Luna, Maia Act, Rock in Rio Lisbon), some of it was not so good (the cancellation of Kalfest Turkey, he poorly organized Alliance Fest in Portuga, the trouble at Kiev airport) but we have surfaced and the balance is promising. Night Eternal was absorbed and great perspectives are opening for the forthcoming US and Euro Tour and if our plans turn out right, a visit to Latin and South America and a couple of special shows in Portugal will  in order before the end of the year.

Last week we had a great time at M'era Luna. The show and the response was awesome, Anneke was there (she is our lucky charm, and there might be a good chance she joins for some dates in the Euro Tour with Cradle) and the feeling was truly what we like, by all means intimate, quite dark and involving. We got good compliment and we needed it after Alliance Fest (the big PT text is our official stand re. this festival which was a night mare and organized by stubborn amateurs), so foreign people can overlook it, please J

We are also adding some final production touches to the LUSITANIAN METAL dvd, which will come out on the end of October and from which we'll be giving more details soon.

Next stop is Beirut's Big Bang festival, which we look forward too, since we he never been playing on that territory and we are receiving surprising feedback from fans over there!

Until next time, stay out of the crushing Sun!

Alliance fest official statement (PT only)

Caros users:

- As insuficiências técnicas

Ainda a novela Alliance:

Summer breeze makes me feel like…

Summer breeze makes me feel like…................................................................

.

.

And so we came back tour motherland for two shows and what a great return that was, ladies and gentlemen. The career of Moonspell is based on such episodes: there are my cities, even important ones, that we never played in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Portugal. On the other hand we are going to Beirut (Lebanon) and , for example, already played four times in Moscow (one of which we were coming from Los Angeles, via Portugal, into Russia) or Casablanca in Morocco. So for us it's somewhat important and "exotic" to play Portugal and always a celebration! So we anticipate this Friday really highly as we are playing Alentejo, one of the regions in Portugal that has contributed with more inspiration to our texts and songs. Portuguese mode: vemo-nos lá!!!

Then we ship into the far shores of Crimea, Ukraine to a very promising festival, with a huge bill where we will get together with our buddies in Samael and get acquainted with our road colleagues to be Gorgoroth. It will be intense as first time we were in Ukraine/Kiev, I remember a powerful response. The Moonspell live machine is fine tuning now, more new songs are being played and to our contentment the are having a huge response. When you do an album, it's all you think about and ask for is this kind of enthusiasm and working hard, we thank hard for that to all people that has so far seen the show. Still in August we get to headline the great Alliance Fest, in Carcavelos, near Lisbon. The other day ArchEnemy will make their premiere in Portugal, so I guess, iyt will be a tremendous event. Our buddies in Exodus and Finntroll will be sharing stage with us that night. Next day Mera Luna which we never play before, believe it or not and joining us will be the one and only Anneke Van Giersbergen for Scorpion Flower, something nobody should miss!!!

We round up this month with an adventurous trip to Beirut, Lebanon, a gig we are very curious about since we always got tons of messages and requests from the Middle East, especially Lebanon, and it's now: we are going there

Have a great week and see you at the shows, we leave with a luminous moment from the dark realms of youtube:

Ps: If you happen to be in Lisbon, do not miss Teatro do Mar performances Daimonion and Nusquam, a part from the great program of Festival dos Oceanos (http://www.festivaldosoceanos.com/) or consult Teatro do Mar myspace:  http://www.myspace.com/teatrodomar

Summer is up!!!

.…and running. From the heavy rains of Norway to the abrasing sun of Greece, yours truly have been enjoying it to the full. The Slottjfest in Norway has nothing but an experience! We played one of the smallest stages we played in years amidst breathtaking atmospheres and Viking legacy. Scandinavian fests have their way in mixing the odd, the cool and the pagan and even though work has to be done, the fans there, especially the ones who stood firmly by the unexpected yet mystical rains, had a great time. Talk about returning for a 3 leg date somewhere in early 2009 has the best result we could take from this experience, not to mention the great atmosphere and response under extreme Summer conditions...:

.

Hitting the stage under 36 degrees could kill any hope. The Sun was that one that is not a shadow but a round torch punishing heads and bodies. But our return to Athens was glorious: the show, the raised fists, the commotion, the other heat than just that of the Sun, the song with Maxi Nil, the farewell. And then the night out, meeting up with our brothers in Rotting Christ and Septic Flesh. Seeing our friends in Lacuna again, Mas from Samael and so many others. We had a great time, once again we will secure some longer club gigs in early 2009 (which were, to our contentment, very asked for). It was great!

 .

This week we return to Portugal, yes! MaiaAct will be our first gig after the great Rock in Rio and it will be a full length one! With a headliner stage and setlist, with Carmen from Ava Inferi joining us on stage for a couple of songs and with a great, great hunger to play again in the region of Porto to one of the best crowds in the world!!! See you tomorrow! Até amanhã!

Then we go and play a showcase in the great Parque da Cidade, in Loures, in the outskirts of Lisbon. This festival is held by the biggest  Rock radio in Lisbon and surroundings and it comes in the right time as Scorpion Flower is number 1 (!!!) in the listeners' charts!!! We will play for a mere half an hour but joining us will be the Crystal Mountain Singers (Carmen, Sophia, Patricia and Silvia), just like Rock in Rio and despite short timed it will be intense and a great warm up for the forthcoming Alliance Festival in the 8th of August which we will be headlining.

 .

Saturday we will return to Holland and headline Zwarte Cross festival, sharing the stage with such great bands as Obituary or Exodus. Anneke can not be singing Scorpion with us as she has a gig herself but we are trying to secure a worth replacement.

 .

On the forthcoming week there will be more from us (Ukraine, Portugal and Germany) and so far we are happy to announce that Anneke will join us on stage in the great Mera Luna Festival.

 .

Until then stay away from the Sun! It burns, it burns, it burns…

Summer Again!!!

Dear friends.

.

Masters of Rock in Czech Republic was one of those perfect nights where all the energies gather around to create something new and special. The audience, the stage, the music, the atmosphere, the kindness of the organizers. Really marked and set us even more ready to a great Summer. The follow up is Norway's Slottsfjell Festival, which we never play but we anticipate this experience as Scandinavian festivals are always so mixed and well organized and take place in beautiful landscapes really. We will be headlining the Birkebeinerscenen on Saturday @ 20.45 and will play a 60 minute set just after Keep of Kalessin (great band!).

.

Even more anticipated is our return to Greece!!! Night Eternal made quite a stir there and we look forward to play some of its songs in one of the countries that has been supporting Moonspell for years and years. We will hit the stage @ 18.30 sharp and will play a hopefully intense set of 40 minutes. Then we will come out and have beers with you guys, so don't be surprised if you catch some Portuguese in the crowd.

Keep it safe, rock on and see on the week-end!!!

Update Sumer Festivals!!

hey there

we just arrived home and it's time for some weekly news. both shows were great, especially the last supper on WFF, after a superb Primordial gig (what a feeling!) we were inspired for all the people who stayed (a full tent on a sunday after midnight!!!) and the response was killer and the show great. Avrika was at times weird, and it really shows that our distributor there is not putting enough effort in promoting us, the crowd was more expecting electro goth than metal, so i thought but some die hard fans made our day so it was worth the 3000 kms!!!

this weekend we play the masters of rock which we eagerly anticipate since Czech Republic is one of our fave crowds and be sure to be there at 0.45 as we are closing the stage on friday!!!

Some related statements follow! have a rockin summer!!!

Kalfest cancellation:

Dear Turkish fans:

Some explanation is long due to all of you since we were forced to cancel our appearance at the Kalfest in Istanbul/Turkey, the past 6th of June. We have delayed an official statement as we were expecting, as it was promised to us by the promoter, that he would issue one himself both in English and in Turkish and that Moonspell will help spread via myspace and our official forum. As it happens that statement, to the date, was never sent to us we would like to take time to explain what happened:....

.. ..

First we have to accept all the frustration from the ticket buyers and hope that they will be reimbursed soon or be admitted for free in the next Moonspell concert in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />....Istanbul..... We also have to apologize for not playing but that was nothing we can do about it. We have a long story of concerts (by the hundreds) and we count with less than ten cancellation in our entire career simply because out of respect of fans and out of passion for playing live, we have played many shows even if sometimes the conditions were not appropriate.....

.. ..

This was the case with Kalfest, a festival that wasn't prepared for a professional show, that wasn't promoted like one (I have met many fans in downtown Istanbul that had no idea why we were there and thought we were vacationing) and on top of that the heavy rain that fell on an unprepared stage made it technically and personally impossible for Moonspell to hit the stage. Most of us were warming up already backstage. We were asked to wait, what we did, but were informed of a strict curfew (time limit) of the venue that made impossible to accept first the idea of setting up inside the gym (that would take hours to put the PA and lights up) or playing an acoustic set (that was not what people paid for and not the kind of show we were prepared to give). With heavy hearts we went back to the hotel and slept.....

.. ..

I have to say that cancellations are not a one way thing, that is the band also suffers: in the case of Moonspell we had to fly really early after a great show in Rock in Rio, endure a painful travel on a tight van for 3 and a half hours in the suffocating Istanbul traffic (the distance from the airport was no more than 40 kms, so we spent most of the time stopped!) and arrive to a dressing room with no catering, no water, no conditions and on top facing a cancellation and spending an extra day in Istanbul. ....

.. ..

We have a great history and a great communion with our Turkish fans in ....Istanbul.... and I hope this won't affect it. We promise to get back there eventually this year and we are making every effort with our agent Nick Peel so that people that have bought tickets are treated fairly.....

.. ..

Most of all we want very much to come back, eventually still this year and present to all of you our new tour and our new album Night Eternal. ....

Lagoa Burning live....

.. ..

This one is for Portuguese users and it tells about our position regarding Lagoa Burning Live, a Metal festival that never became a reality.....

.. ..
