Hundebox and The Wandering Jew
This week we got an oldie and a ... newie. Wandering Jew is one of the few songs we still play from the olden days, we keep cutting stuff out of it. Eventually there will be nothing left and we won't have to play it at all anymore.
Hundebox is Buzz's ode to the dog containers found in some German beer gardens. Und hence, the tune is a lil bit influenced by Tuetonic forces.
Caveat: we're both Jews, lest you think the conflation of such mentions with dogs getting put into boxes in Germany means anything. It doesn't. ... Or does it?
No, I guess it doesn't.

Electronic Detective and Removable Partial
Whoops I forgot to write up Electronic Detective, a song we recorded a couple weeks back. This song has been in our repetoire for quite some time but never successfully recorded. Plus it has benefited from the new Motico Austerity Program (not to be confused with The Austerity Program), we lopped off more than half the song and we have an nifty little oddity left.
Removable Partial began as an extremely long jam thing that was sort of missing something. That 'something' turned out to be: brevity. We boiled it down and suddenly it became a song. Lyrics were a bit tricky, I'm not totally sure these will stand the test of time. But then. what does? Grape Nuts, that's what.

Song of the Week
New song from last weekend’s recording session, this one you may recognize as "Hopper," one of our standards. But we never had a recording of it until now. Remember folks, these recordings are basically two tiny stereo mics in the room recording the guitar and drums. I think that’s damn good for not really trying!
the song took a long time to process on myspace for some reason but it’s up now. seems like it cut some of the low end off but you can download the song if you want to hear a lightly better version. like you’re really gonna.

What’s that humming sound?
With the addition of a handheld digital recorder, we can now make recordings anywhere, of anything. No matter how poorly conceived or inexpertly captured, getting songs from our practice room to you, the Listening Public, is but a few clicks of the mouse.
Featured right now is The French Revolution. Okay, that was already up there but we made a new version with words and a more reasonable song structure (which will probably get shorter before we’re done). Also is a song we came up with last week, Ft. Apache, a song that not only allows us to play endlessly repetitive riffs but also allows us to wail off-key through what was meant to be a keyboard amp (but now serves as our vocal PA). With standards like ours, you can imagine how good ths music must be!

Back to the grave
i never check this site anymore, but then again we haven't been particularly active of late. But we have moved (to Bushwick Brooklyn) and have completed major construction on our basement studio. So now begins the process of trying to practice and remember how to play our songs. And you know how painful a procedure that can be for a male over 30.

Finally, a new track
Category: Music
If this thing works like Rupert Murdoch tells it does, then you should be hearing a new track in our XML jukebox, "Bach's Arco Pitcairn." This is possibly the first and only song ever named after a shirt worn by an extra in a zombie movie.

New Motico single
It's here, it's queer, get used to hearing it. Buy it online or from us at our shows (eventually it will be available in some stores, I'll post that at some point). Whaddya mean you don't have a turntable? Well, hadn't you better get out to the thrift shop and get one?

Record Release show this Thursday!
so we have our singles ready to go, only problem is we don't have the jackets yet. so in DIY fashion, we're making up a batch of record jackets on our home printing press. we'll only have a limited supply for the show this thursday, so we're keeping this low-profile: when the doorguy asks who you're there to see, if you say Motico, you get a free copy of our new record! And if that weren't enough, it comes with a CD version of the songs on the the vinyl, as well as several other unreleased Motico-related tracks! Plus you'll get to own something we made with our own two hands. Just imagine the fine craftsmanship.

New version of STFX
I just replaced the EP version of our song "Short Term Effects" with the version that we recently recorded for our single. the 7" should be coming out in the next couple of months.
And we just added a show at Lit on December 8. That's the day after my birthday, so if you're too cheap to get me a present, you can make up for it by spending the 5 measly bucks to go to the show.

CMJ detox this Saturday
Yes, it's CMJ week in the big city, and there are tons of good shows going on. But by the time Saturday rolls around, maybe you should take a break from the hurly burly and come down to Freddy's Bar in Brooklyn and see a show unfettered by the hype machine. MOTICO will be rocking the Backroom along with M.FIX and LOUDLY FERNANDO & DOM (the latter band is from Boston). This wll be a most enjoyable evening of sonic entertainment in a bar that made the list in that "Best Dive Bars of New York City" book. Best of all the show is free and the drinks are none too pricey either.
