The Hour-Glass Sanatorium by Wojciech Has / DVD / November
Has's incredible adaptation of Bruno Schulz's story collection 'Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass' (Sanatorium Pod Klepsydrà in Polish). The film won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 1973.

Under The Volcano by John Huston / DVD / In stock now
An adaptation of the 1947 novel by English writer Malcolm Lowry. The film tells a story of Geoffrey Firmin, an alcoholic and self destructive British consul in the small Mexican town of Quauhnahuac on the Day of the Dead in 1938.

Memories Of Underdevelopment by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea / DVD / In stock now
A seminal 1968 Cuban film, based on a novel by Edmundo Desnoes. This is Alea's fifth film, and probably his most famous worldwide that gathered several awards at international film festivals. Showing at The Barbican, London next week. Look out for more Cuban titles next year

Black God White Devil by Glauber Rocha / DVD / In stock now
A Brazilian film from 1964, considered to be Rocha's masterpiece. The film that caused a big stir at Cannes in 1964 and was recently shown at RichMix in Shoreditch, London

Seun Kuti is Fela Anikulapo Kuti's last son. Seun's father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, was Nigeria's most beloved popular musician and most acerbic social critic until his death in 1997. Having packed out The Barbican Seun Kuti will now perform in a more intimate setting, where you can move your feet to the sounds of the true heir to Fela Kuti's throne.

NEWS JUST IN... Prince Fatty and Horseman will be performing at Sofrito at Empowering Church, Richmond Road, London E8 this Saturday night, 2nd August.

This is a very rare outing for Fatty so make sure you check him and his MC Horseman out.

Look out for the forthcoming I Am Cuba 2xDVD boxset, featuring a making of documentary and an interview with Martin Scorcese and more. We are releasing another lost classic film later this year in the form of The Saragossa Manuscript

MR BONGO DJs

The Mr Bongo DJs specialise in taking the sounds championed and released by Mr Bongo to dancefloors and events around the world. Recent events have seen them host their own room at the MTV European Dance Music Awards in Lisbon (2005) and 2006 sees them play multiple gigs in Brazil along with club and outdoor sets in Berlin for events surrounding the World Cup finals and the dance tent at WOMAD.

Musical styles include samba, disco, deep funk, latin, batucada, dance jazz, Brazilian soul, funk and hip hop, funk carioca and other modern electronic styles. The collective comprises the following DJs:
