Just in case you are still riding the fence...

The following is a quote from the Katie Couric - Sarah Palin interview:

Katie Couric: "Why isn't it better, Gov. Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?"

Gov. Sarah Palin: "That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the -- it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that."

Is it just me or does Gov. Palin's response have absolutely NOTHING to do with the question?

Time and time again, John McCain boasts to have the right judgment and leadership skills to be president, but clearly his choice of Gov. Palin is a truer example of the "skills" John McCain possess. Come on, give me a break, this decision is getting easier by the day, if you are still not sure who you are voting for, you aren't paying attention.

wake up, and GET OFF THE FENCE!!!!

I can see clearly now
Current mood: amused

I received this from a friend of mine, I thought it was good so I decided to post it. So if any of you are still riding the fence (10% are, so says the polls), this should help make everything a little easier.

This took some figuring out:

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers -- a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track -- you're a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

Attend five different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

If you spend three years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a constitutional law professor, spend eight years as a state senator representing a district with more than 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of  13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl, four years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising two beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner-city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.

If your husband is nicknamed 'First Dude,' with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

Get off the fence!!!

Barack Obama
Current mood: enthralled

So I've been pretty skeptical on the whole Obama campaign, I have watched him speak time and time again, and while he always made me feel good, I just wasn't buying it. In my mind, it just always seemed like something was missing, specifically, there wasn't enough substance to his ideas. That was of course, until tonight.

His speech was incredible. He left no stone unturned, no questions unanswered, but more than anything, he didn't pull any punches and he blooded John McCain. Part if me wishes I could have heard him speak the way he did tonight earlier in his campaign, who knows, I might have hopped on board sooner. However, the more I think about it, because he has been so reserved until now, his speech as had much more of an impact on me.

I had been pulling for Clinton from the start, and I was really disappointed when she dropped out of the race, but after tonight, I am really glad she did. I am henceforth putting ALL of my support behind Barack Obama, he whooped that political ass, and now I can honestly and happily say that all of my skepticism has been put to rest.

Thank you Barack Obama, you've made me believe again, and for that, I can't thank you enough.

health insurance

It has been 7 years since I last had health insurance, couldn't afford it or whatever, liked living dangerously I guess, but its not all about me anymore so I feel like a genuine adult today. So bring on the sickness and maybe a nasty tumble down some stairs, it doesn't matter now, I'm covered.

sometimes I wonder
Current mood: awake

Lately I have found myself pondering just how I have got myself where I am, and then I remember, its because I wanted to be here. It's not profound, I know, but it is satisfying.

5 years
Current mood: optimistic

Its kinda hard to believe that it has been five years, but sure enough, it has been just that, 5 years. I wonder sometimes if he would be proud, if he is proud, but then again, even if he was, he would never tell me, so it doesn't matter.

I am of course talking about my father.

He died 1 day before the anniversery of 9/11, henceforth forever shadowing my memory of the twin towers, living in New York, that is saying a great deal.

Big ups yourself Pops, this one is going to turn out all right.

Dr. Fix it

For anyone who has ever owned, worked with or worked on any Apple or Mac product, the sad face icon is the last thing you ever want to see. Normally, it is the first and last icon you see before a complete meltdown of the system and the owner or the system.

Last week, my ipod made the sad face. I started calmly trying to restart it, going on line to look for some fix it yourself pages, hoping that it would just reboot and then I could force it into disc mode, but no, it wasn't happening, the return of the sad face everytime. Meaning what, that's right hardware malfunction, it's fucked, tunes are gone and this thing is now worthless.

Enraged I threw it aside, banishing it to the other side of my desk. I refused to even look at it for days, until today. Don't ask me how because I could never tell you the scientific explanation for it, but for some reason, throwing the ipod made it work again.

The lesson, throw your ipod when it is broken.

Satisfaction

Hey Jason, let's have a good game.

Ok fine,

( we play, I win big, and fast)

Wait,..I was playing bar rules, not league.

(Silence)

Yo, didn't you hear me, I said I was playing bar rules, not league.

Are you talking to me?

Yes I am talking to you!!!

Oh, and here I thought you were ignoring me.

Don't make this personal, this is pool

Whatever

Don't whatever me,

I just did, don't take it personal

You know I don't play on a league, I don't have time

You're right being drunk and pretending to go to school takes up far too much of it.

Whatever, have the table, this is so weak.

The only thing weak at this table is your game.

uuugghhhh....

Call me

Americana with a side of Pork Ribs
Current mood: amused

This Saturday I was invited to attend one of the most entertaining experiences of my life, the winter time BBQ. Despite the sub-arctic temperatures, 30+ people we in attendance for the be all in be alls of gluttony. Succulent pork that slid of the bone like butter with a tangy sauce that made everything melt in your mouth, plus pina coladas the size of your head. Things got kinda rowdy towards the end, the pile of bones in the middle of the table resembled a tyrannosaurus rex that had fallen apart and some one must have consumed the head, but I guess that is to be expected when people drink too many apple strawberry daiquiris...oh nothing like a good burn on someone you don't even know. Thanks to Izz for having the bash, and thanks to her folks for making Izz.
