Now or never

"You ain't seen nothing unless you seen crazy frog's dick..."

I kept a pseudo log while on the road to Ohio, more from that in a minute.  But for the time being here are my initial thoughts on Cleveland(ish).
-The hotel room has crippled wireless internet
-The ac sounds like a tank.  Not pleased.
-The rock and roll hall of fame is exspensive, although apprently a nonprofit organization.
-Crossroads starring Britney Spears is on Bravo.  I'm kind of stoked.

Sweet Jesus, new Jealous Sound.  I can't explain how happy it makes me to hear a new song from this band.

Drill the pressure right out of my head.
Maybe I'm scared.
Maybe I am
weak and paranoid
When I speak white noise
pours out from my voice.

-As Tall As Lions- Be Here Now

So I've realized a couple of things the best week or so...
-One  is I don't do well on my own.  Where ever I go, I need someone with me.  And I don't mean like I need someone to come with me to the bathroom more like should I ever graduate college and get a job I'm much too terrified to go off to a new place on my own and have to make new friends/find a new routine.

-The other thing I've realized is that I've completely let fear control my life.  There are things I've done/haven't done because I'm completely afraid to fail so I don't even try.  Of course I realize this, but I'll probably never do anything about it.  I'll tell myself I'm changng and working towards being who I want to be, but I'm not.  I've been telling myself that since I graduated high school,  that this will be the year I change, get my act together and achieve what people keep saying I can.

-Also I don't think I'll ever be happy where I am...No matter where I am there's someplace else I'd rather be, some other group of friends that I want to be with.  And it has nothing to do with not liking the people who are around but I'll always care more about the people who aren't no matter who they are.

-And finally, I need something new in my life.  I need something worthwhile. something beyond this day to day bullshit I'm going through.  Something(ie someone) worthwhile.  But such is life.

What if nothing is just that and
suffering's the only thing we're good
at?

-As Tall As Lions

Zach And Miri Make A Porno

I'm really digging the new Alkaline Trio(mostly the single "Help Me") mainly because it's tough to tell it's the same band that began years ago.  For better or for worse they've slowly chipped away the punk aspects and now right solid(if not safe) pop songs.  For the time being it's getting my approval, probably won't last though.

Thoughts from before the Ohio trip....

Pineapple Express was a much better movie than I expected.  Ton's of smoking but hardly a movie for stoners.  Well done Seth and Evan, well done.

New Academy Is record, I like a few songs but they all kind of sound the same to me.  So this probably won't last.

Raine Maida, is actually a pretty cool record so far.  Granted I'm only half way through but it's much more...exciting(for lack of a better word) than Our Lady Peace.  Kudos to Mr. Maida.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker have taken over the mission,
Cause our politicians they don't have a position.
Who's to blame for this shallow existence?
Our existence.

-Raine Maida: One Second Chance

Since I have tons of free time, and there's no new tv on I'm forced to expand my viewing habits a bit.  For one, I've decided Mario Lopez is the most random celebrity who's apperently still relevant.  Beyond that, Lil Mama is awesome and that dance show on MTV is at least good for a few minutes of entertainment.

The new Yankee Stadium cost 1.3 billion dollars, Citi Field a puny 800 million.  That's like what, a 500 million dollar difference or something.  How the hell does that happen.  What could they have possibily put at Yankee Stadium that result in that.  Jacuzzi's instead of box seats?  Jetpacks to fly fans from their cars to their seats?  Perhaps every seat will have a envelope of cash strapped underneath for every home game during the opening season.  Leave your theories in the replies.

So I've been reading the NY Post online for at least a year now and just noticed the giant tab that says weird but true.  Personal fav...

"A frugal, bank-wary Cincinnati man plunked down $8,000 in coins for a $16,000 Chevrolet Silverado. It took employees at the dealership 90 minutes to count the change James Jones had stashed in 16 coffee cans.

He and his wife did relent and pay the rest with a check."

So I was cruising around the internet watching performances from some of my favorite bands and it made me realize how badly I want to go to another show.

"We're recording a song that has been a favorite here at Thursday HQ for many years. This will be the time we get it RIGHT! "  That's taken from Thursday's Twitter page(which sounds dirty) and that worries me a bit.  At some point they need to write all new material and not just rehash old demos and stuff.  I've obviously never heard the song but something tells me that if you've tried to get the song right for a few years and failed it's not going to work.  But who knows Thursday could completely prove me wrong.

The new Resident Evil game will be legendary, and obviously scare the crap out of me.

Fun fact from wikipedia, the lead singer of Incubus is credited with whistling on Coconut Records' song Slowly.

This is probably one of the best songs I've heard all year...

Mustaches, Latvia and Zach Efforn’s eye brows...

So past couple of weeks has been a whirl wind of craziness and I've learned a few things in addition to having some good stories.
-The Mets exist soley to screw with me.
-Nathan exists to do whatever I don't want him to do.  He is motivated by few things, among them...booze, money, spiting me.
-Also Nate hates being on the outside of little secrets however harmless they may or may not be.
-I'm gonna buy a bicycle(the motorcycle dream is on hold for practical reasons) and start a real biker gang.
-Raine Maida(lead singer of Our Lady Peace) produced four Men, Women and Children tracks.

Oh NPH, what can't you do?

Need another reason to see Journey to the Center of the earth besides the always awesome Brandon Frasier?  It's supposedly good.

The Reign of Kindo, awful band name.  Fantastic music.  Nate there's a chance you may like this band. "The sound of this Buffalo, NY band is not jazz, nor is it in-your-face rock. It's simply the pinnacle in sophisticated pop rock. Pianos with Mehldau-like dissonance swell along colliding guitar lines, rounded out with a rhythm section that grooves and sways like it's nobody's business...RIYL: Dave Brubeck, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ben Folds, This Day & Age, Brad Mehldau, John Mayer."  That's from some random website.

Not too long ago I admitted to liking Katy Perry's song I Kissed A Girl, I know suprising.  Anyways, I'm pretty sure she'll have a few more singles after this.  Her CD is good, like really good.  Ok, not record of the year better than Sigur Ros good, but good pop music.  I actually enjoy it.

I need the following new CDs now...

Funeral For A Friend
The Jealous Sound(If it exists)

I know you've been waiting for it, so just enjoy.

Now that you've watched go back to the fortyfive second mark and try not to think of a group that hate's certain races that originated in the south.

A quick line from Hoosiers which is considered among the best sports movies of alltime...

"I didn't know they grew them so small down of the farm."
"Don't worry about what he said, you just do your job and put it in the hole."

...that's what she said! ZING!

There's is not a part of the description for the new Futurama movie that I don't like.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance + Latvia apperently= awesome.(Editor's Note: They probably meant Latveria, but I'll take it)

As you may or may not know I've recently set up both my Nintendo and Super Nintendo and I'm a little disappointed with how easy some of the games, and how awful some of the others are.  But more importantly I'm missing Turtles In Time and NBA Jam.  I think I left them in Oswego for ever ago.

The comedic value for this video is off the charts, and that's before factoring in Butch's mustache.

For the first time in a long time
I can say that I want to try
I feel helpless for the most part, but I'm learning to open my eyes
And the sad truth of the matter is I'll never get over it,
But I'm gonna try
To get better and overcome each moment
In my own way...

Something about fur trapping
Current mood: sore

So apprently Latvia has the sixth most attractive women in the world, suck it Lithuania.

Is it depressing that I've never had one of these "summer beers"?

Not sure if I posted this vid before but it's so awesome it warrants a repost.

Speaking of videos.  Artie Lang loses his shit.

If you doubted the Hold Steady's greatness read about their "beard off."

Foo Fighters + Sold Out Wembley + Led Zeppelin = EPIC

Pirates XXX II.   Is anyone else as stoked as I am?

There's about a million different things that are awesome about this article about women getting their gspot surgically enhanced.

I haven't seen Starship Troopers two but I am beyond excited for the third one.  It's got Casper Van Dien it's gotta be good.

How many Simpsons characters can you name in ten minutes?  I got 53, and there were a few who's names I just couldn't spell correctly.  The Will Smith one on the other hand is really tough.

I only got 28/30 for NHL teams.  I'm slightly disappointed.

The new Hit the Lights demos/songs are fantastic.  Absurdly catchy and lyrics that aren't awful.  Probably gonna be the soundtrack of the summer.  True story.

Remember Pistolita?  No?  Well new band from some of those dudes, love them thus far.  Check 'em out.

Listen to Man Without Wax.  They refernce Futurama in their song titles.  And they're also just good if you like bands like Gatsbys American Dream and Muse.

In a depressing twist facebook has now started mocking me for being single.  Everytime I open facebook(which with my constant boredom in the wee hours of the morning is way too much) there's an ad about meeting girls online.  Now I understand that I'm single but does facebook really need to rub it in?  Everytime this happens a little piece of me dies.  Of course myspace does this to me too.

On an ad related note, you know what's fun?  Next time you're watching tv pay attention to the ads played during commericials of your favorite shows.  For me there's an alarming high rate of erectile disfunction pills, girls gone wild, and e harmony ads.  Anyways the people at advertising agencies are guessing that based on what I watch I clearly have difficulties performing sexually, which leaves me single and then drives me to porn.  That's absurdly depressing.  And the worst part?  It's true :(.  Fucking tv.

I've been thinking, they should remake the Rocketeer with...Brandon Frasier!  As for the female love interest, how about...hmm...Scarlet Johansen.  I butchered her name but none the less hollywood you can start sending me my royalty checks now.

Oswego Syracuse journey recap in trilogy form...

Journey Up:
- Hit traffic on 84, my car is not happy with the stop and go, I'm not happy with the delay.  Half an hour later find out that traffic is being caused by a lane closure.  Acceptable circumstance.  Find out, there is no lane closure, just signs saying so.  I'm less than pleased.

-After an uneventful three hours my car starts studdering at 75 miles an hour on 81 north, just 10 miles away from the tmac-williams residence.  Even more frustrated.  So I get off at the next exit, fuel up hoping that will for some reason fix the problem. It sort of does, I drive on avoiding the interstate until I have to get back on.  Follow Kevin's directions get myself lost because I just ignored Kevin's directions.  I was in the left only lane, ready to make a left onto the street that runs into the street I'm looking for but in a moment of clarity I realize it's been too easy getting there, it can't be the right turn.  After getting new directions my car spins out everytime I start from a stop, ie after a stop sign.  I encounter probably a dozen stop signs.

Fun Weekend Events in bullet form:
-Kevin beats me in beer pong after I took a pretty comfortable lead.
-Kevin beats Tim in beer pong.
-Tim beats me in beer pong.
-Kevin beats me and Tim.
-I resign for the night and go to sleep.
-Saturday I go to a graduation party for one of Kevin's friends from high school or something.  Totally not akward.
-I'm introduced to someone claiming to be Kevin's brother Trevor.  I question their relationship.
-More beer pong, I might have gone winless again.
-Sunday we head up and I learn the following two things, Tim's home in Skaneatles(how ever it's spelled) exists for me to hurt myself.  And his house is awesome.
-After launching a mini-dirtbike across the lawn and getting a nifty little cut I decide to give up on bikes for the day.
-Tubing commences, Tim's goal may have been to kill me.  Aside from him driving the boat when I'm out in the tube he also decides to try and take off my lifejacket while we're enjoying dual tube technology.  I hate him.  But you have to love any activity that allows/encourages you to make your friends sore all over.

Journery Home:
-My car performs admirably overcoming my concerns...then I hit traffic just outside of Fishkill.  The whole incident repeats itself.
-Off the highway no one knows how to get three fucking exits further up without getting back on 84.  Sample interaction...
Me: Are the any local routes to take towards Brewster I don't want to take 84.
Clueless Staff: What do you mean?
Me: I need to get to like exit 19, Ludington Rd, without getting back on 84.
CS: ?
Me: Are there any local routes that travel east and follow 84?
CS: The on ramp for 84 east is right there.
Me: *Fights urge to snap* I need to stay off 84.
CS: Oh, I think you need to go to Hopewell Junction.

-So I walked out and found my own way.  BTW, route 52 or it may have been 53 follows 84 from fishkill to Ludington Rd more or less, and it does not go through Hopewell Junction.
-My car stays at mechanics.
-Dan is a sad panda.

Next Day Update: Transmission is done.  Dan is a really sad panda, a really sad panda without a car.

Btw, I love the way the Mets can make every pitcher look like an ace.

I’m currently out of How I Met Your Mother references :(
Current mood: sore
Category: Blogging

Fun fact: The actor who does the voice of Hermes on Futurama also does Wilt from Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends.  He also did a million other cartoon shows and Marvel Ultimate Alliance as  Black Panther, Colossus, Moon Knight, Uatu.  And The Weekenders.

Fun Fact 2: IMDB is awesome.

A few things I forgot to mention in my Oswego recap...

-Super Smash Brothers isn't all that bad.  I hate to admit it but I enjoyed it.  It's amazing what winning your first game can do for your feelings about a game.

-I'm ok at the new Mario Kart sober.  But hammered, I've got five first place finishes and only one second place finish.

I always appreciate a Rocketeer reference.

Apperently the playmate of the year and I like similar music...

The newest installation of CDs that I enjoy but Nate will hate...
E for Explosion- Reinventing the Heartbeat

All I can say about Chris Simon playing hockey in Russia next year is good ridance.

PS- Dear Europe, Now that you have Chris Simon, can we have Theo Fleury back?  It seems like a fair trade to me, Simon never had as much skill as Fleury, but Fleury is old and an alcoholic I think.

Somewhat related note: Even if they're not good I typically like alcoholic athletes who play for NY teams.  See, Kerry Collins, Theo Fleury, and my countryman Sandis Ozilinsh.

So Mike Piazza has retired, and I'm a little saddened by this.  Even though I was never a huge fan of his what he did for the Mets was phenomenal.  He resurerected a franchise and helped lead them to a World Series birth.  And as much as I love the team the Mets have know, the years when Piazza was playing was a much more likeable team.  I don't know what it is, probably the under dog status, the whole us vs the world mentality that team had.  Or could be the apperent lack of passion from this year's team.

Piazza Note Number Two: If he doesn't enter the Hall of Fame as a Met, I'm going to be a little angry.

I have found a mix that I can date to right around end of summer of 04.  And sadly, or suprisingly(most likely both) I still like nearly every single song.  Even "A Decade Under The Influence," which is a solid jam.  True story.

I'm not too sure, but FX apperently has a show starring hot women who are alcoholics but functional ones.  I don't really know.  Ok this is taking a turn towards lame, they're at some doctor's office. /end fascination.

Check out number 2.

Well played Penny Arcade, well played.

Sigur Ros released their new single.  It's called Goobidligook or something similar.  Must say, not a fan.  Although the album art of three dudes bare asses is a solid choice.

Alrighty, since Strarz keepz(see what I did there, oh so clever)playing it I'm gonna bring it up again.

Bridge To Terabithia is the most unessicarily depressing book/movie ever.  I'm really not sure why it had to end the way it did, other than to possibily prove that if it's too good to be true it probably is.  Moral of the story, don't ever fall in love.  Especially if the girl is the cutest girl ever(ok, that sounds kind of creepy but it really isn't).

Something about fur trapping...

..>Makin' Music with John Mayer on FunnyOrDie.com..>

Oswego Weekend Recap:

-Thursday: I arrived late, so the night was pretty tame.  Drank some beers, played some scene it.  Good times.

-Friday:  The big ol' BSR.  Bridge Street Run.  Lots of walking.  Lots of cheap beer in cans.  All in all underwhelmed.  After BSR was a good time, more drinking, some video games, and reminiscing about my trip to Maine a few years back with Kevin.

-Saturday: Started off casually enough, some moderate drinking.  At around 1 am only John, Kevin and I are left and then it goes down hill...
Me: "We should do power hour."
John: (editors note: I actually don't remember what John said but he was very enthused)
Kevin: "Sure why not"

Fifteen minutes in I need to pee, thus missing a shot.  Now I need to double up, quickly lest I fall behind by another round.  First shot goes down, my stomach while dealing with it, is less than stoked about the foam in my belly.  Shot number two, goes down.  I sit still for a second, John reaches for the garbage can.  Being the champ that I am I get up and sprint to the bathroom, I make it half way.  Puke all over the fall/washer/dryer/my door.  John is stoked.  After cleaning up, I'm just a beaten slightly drunk man, the puking really just sucked the life out of me(along with my chicken quesadilla lunch).  Immediatly there after, John does what I was too proud to do, he pukes in the garbage can.  John of course being a bigger man than me, rallies to finish the power hour.

Now I know what you're thinking, "but Dan!  Did Kevin finish?"  And the short answer is no.  The story goes something like this, whilst Dan was texting away like a mad man thanks to Nate getting the ball rolling, Kev plows through another fifteen or so minutes.  As John and I become frustrated that Kev may indeed make it.  He takes a shot, looks at us and says these twoish words.."hm, that's weird"  he then spews vomit into the garbage can.  John and I rejoice, Kev's legendary puking power slighlty amazes me and the night slowly winds down.

-Sunday: This is how it ended, I jumped into the outside of my house.  You know like how hockey players bounce off the glass after scoring a big goal.  And even though I landed it I can't help but believe that it was slightly less smooth.  So how'd I get there.  Well played some video games while drinking casually, watched National Treasure while continuing to drink.  Then Ben and John brought friends of theirs over one girl who I had met on Friday and one who seemed new to me.  Anyways, so we watch an anime called Akira, which from what I remember was good but I decided during the movie since everyone else was sober to up the drinking.  It started off simply enough, everytime one characters name was said I drank, then it evolved into everytime there's an explosion and one of two characters name's are said drink.  At some point I got hammered, and was yelling, mainly at Tina for no reason.  Apperently she'd just be sitting there, I'd look at her, yell and give her the finger.  I'm awesome, I know.  By the end of the movie things got absurd.  I'm pretty sure the last twenty minutes went something like this...

The characters name's from the movie will be known as lance and jason...

"Lance! Look out"
*exsplosion*
"Jason! I will kill you"
*explosion*
"Unlikely Lance."

Now repeat that for like ten-twenty minutes.  By the end of the night I'm pretty sure I made no new friends but Ben and John thought I was awesome.

-Monday: Was relatively unexciting except I took Tim's motorcycle out for a few laps around the parking lot.  Even though I was crippled at first I made some progress and decided that I want a motorcycle.  Nothing too powerful, more along the lines of a vespa.  But still technically a motorcycle.  Ladies prepare to be turned on.

This is legendary...wait for it... DARY!
Current mood: pessimistic
Category: Blogging

-The Penguins scare the bejesus out of me.  Bold prediction, Pens in seven.  PS- I hate Crosby, like, a lot.

-This blog, well actually a blog responding to another blog is awesome.

-Big things on the horizion, prepare to be amazed.  Unless you're Nathan, in which case we should consider a lawyer.

-Mets, Mets, Mets, still can't figure this team out.  Not sure I ever will, but I do know this.  Sanatana is looking to be worth every penny of someonelses money.

-Working on a new mix, this is an understatement when I say this will define your summer.  Suck it Nate.

-My family may or may not have a time share available pretty much anywhere, I propose a trip of somesort.  More doable than the RV, although slightly less exciting.

-The Damnwells were being played over the speakers in the mall today.  I really, really need that new CD asap.  And a tour while we're at it, although that's unlikely to happen.

-Newest How I Met Your Mother was...leg...wait for it....

-DARY!

-Listen to these bands for another week, then get Augustana, discard all other albums.
>Polar Bear Club
>Transit
>Third Eye Blind

-You know what oddly terrifies me...
>The Living Dead
>Spontaneous human combustion
>Several forms of birth control.  Seriously things were much easier when all you needed was a coat hanger...Too much?...I'm probably going to hell.

-Best tour name I've heard in a while..."Will play music for beer."  I'm not entirely sure but I think that's why Nate decided to get into music.

-Now that there are three games in the bag my thoughts on the Rangers-Pens series.

This got out of hand real quick.  And it's not just one thing there's a bunch.  Henrik hasn't been the better goalie, the Rangers can't clear their zone, the Penguins special teams have dominated... There's few things I can point to a positive for the Rangers.  Jagr's been a beast, but beyond that...Straka continues to leave me underwhelmed, Shanahan is pretty much useless.  Even the great Chris Drury hasn't been able to provide all that much.  And of course there's almost no positives to look at on the horizon.
They need to win four straight with three key injuries...

I'm already looking ahead to next season and it's not too encouraging if they don't make another big signing.  I would love to have Jagr back, Shanahan and Straka need to go.  Beyond that they need an offensive defenseman because they're powerplay is beyond crippled.  Ideally I'd like to see Brian Cambell(whatever his name is) replace Marek Malik on the roster and Marian Hossa replace Shanahan/Straka.

So the series is over...This article is basicly how I feel.

Oswego Recap...
-Drank every night(sometimes just me and John) to varying degrees of drunkeness.
-Lots of fast food.
-Money went flying out of my wallet.  Not sure how I spent so much.
-Played Mario Kart for Wii, made me seriously consider buying a Wii.
-Bailed on Emily...twice, yeah I'm awesome.
-Forbidden Kingdom was everything I'd thought it would be...Cheesy fight scenes, bad acting, bad story, hot asian chicks, and over all disappointing.
-Apperently became an unbeatable beer pong team with Tina, team herpes ftw.
-Speaking of beer pong, first shot of the night bounced it in.  Second shot? Ceiling.  Two shots five cups, they didn't stand a chance.
-Found out ants are seriously attracted to flowers.
-I realized that despite a slightly questionable decision making process some of my friends will likely never get arrested because they'll talk their way out of it, while another will eventually find a way to get himself arrested.
-Got Tim good, fucker.

Concert Recap...

-Fire When Ready: Live set left something to be desired, didn't play my favorite song by them presumably because their set got cut with one song left.  Still, I've got a reknewed interest in the band.

-Polar Bear Club: In five years they may be the only band from the show still playing.  It was clear to me(which doesn't say much) that the band loved what they were doing and were passionate about it.  They've got potential, with continued hard work and some luck they could be the next Thursday.

-Absent Star:  I feel bad because they seemed, or at least the lead singer did, to be cool dudes who really liked what they were doing but...They were a rather generic band who delivered a solid performance with a very effiminate lead singer.

-Third Eye Blind: Aside from an overly long intro the band was stellar from start to finish.  Played most of their debut but with hits from the other albums mixed in as well.  Also they played a few acoustic songs on a stage that was located at the back of the audiance which was pretty sweet.  Also quote of the night goes to Stephen Jenkins, "I love seeing women crowd surf, when they're between 90 and 135 pounds they look like little angels just floating up there...then I see some 300 pound frat dude I think everyone should just let him fall on his head."  Also he descirbed "God Of Wine" as a driving song, and since he doesn't do the driving, a drinking song as well.

I've got a new mix coming soon, it's gonna super sweet, more details to come once it's finished.

I've only heard three of the ten songs but I'm gonna say it now.

Augustana's "Can't Love Can't Hurt" will be the record of the year.  Hey Now is the song of the year.  I know it's still a long way until the rest of the record comes out, April 29, but these new songs sound fantastic and I absolutely love this band more than anyone reading this would think.

Exciting new update:  I've heard some more songs, albeit, live recordings.  I'm even more confident now.  I absolutely love this band.

Another Exciting Update: Heard studio versions of all the songs, album of the year.  Game over, gg every other band.

New favorite band, The Gaslight Anthem, sort of sound like Against! Me.  Good, good stuff though.  You should expect their EP to be among my favorites of the year, behind only Jon Foreman.

Driving In Silence is putting out a new record soon.  Get stoked, I'm sure I'll be putting plenty of these songs on mixes in the future, so deal with it.

Continuing my music related note, I've recently taken sister-duo group type things.  So if you know a band(or duo) that happen to be sisters, and play indie pop type stuff, chances are I'll love it.  Case in point, Tegan and Sara, and Meg and Dia(who I think are sisters not sure though).

I know what you're thinking, "geez Dan, I always check out every band you recomend and love them.  If only I could just browse through your CD collection I might find even more music I might like."  Well fear not.

Or perhaps you'd like to buy me a gift.

So I lost my NCAA pool with Nate and Jake(for the one of that's not Nate and reading this).  Anyways, as if the circumstances of my loss weren't enough I just realized that because of the tournament I didn't get a new How I Met Your Mother episode this week.  And that's like the kick the crotch to go along with a faceful of mase.  Seriously lame.

So another Mets' season is upon us, and I'm not sure I can handle it.  After what happened two years ago I didn't think that the Mets could possibly find a way to end their season on a more painful note, but bless their hearts they tried their hardest.  Blowing a  seven game lead with seventeen to go while impressive was slightly easier to handle than the three pitch/zero swing strikeout of the year before but only marginally.  Anyways, we're only three games in and already I'm completely torn on this team.

Game by game thoughts...
Game One: Santana is the missing piece, Mets can't possibly fall short of the winning the NLCS this year.
Game Two: Pedro's hurt, we're doomed.  Delgado's useless, and I'm not entirely sure they're deep enough to beat both the Philies and Braves.
Game Three: Oliver Perez for CY Young, Wright and Beltran as Co-MVPS.  When this team is on they can't be beat.

So if you've gathered something beyond my fickleness from that it should be that there's no way to tell where this season will end.  I honestly believe they have the talent to win the world series(when you can start the best pitcher in baseball two to three times in a four game series, and add in Pedro, John Maine and Oliver Perez there's few staffs that can compete).  But at the same time this team is flawed, I'll forever have doubts about the Mets bullpen, they could bring in the the very best relievers in baseball and I'll still be weary of the pen.  And they're old.  Like real old.  Like geez, this is a little absurd.

My bold prediction:  The Mets find some new way to break my heart.  Who knows, maybe David Wright and Jose Reyes will test positive for steriods and the rest of the team will walk out because Manager Willie Randolf knowingly ignored this.  I don't know for sure but something will happen.  Something always happens(and by always I mean everytime my favorite teams find a way to let me down big time, the only exception being this year's Giants team, although I've barely just started to fully believe and enjoy the  championship)

PS- To the Rangers, please don't crush my spirit again this year.  With Chris Drury in the mix I don't think I'll be able to handle anything similar to last year's defeat.

I assure you, I found this clip in the most innocent way possible.  And laughed.

If you were betting on how someone would die I would consult this chart first.

If you're curious or just completely unable to control yourself check out this site with all kinds of info on Gears of War 2.

I'm thinking of creating a pen name.  Which is a little uneeded because I don't really write much(or at all for the time being) outside of this blog. So perhaps an alter ego is in order.  Now the only choice is whether to go with Lance Stallone, or Dave Wolke?  Voice your opinions in the replies.

Is it sad that I badly want to stay at this hotel?

This is pretty sweet...

This is why Latvia is easily the most bad ass of all the Baltic states, all three of them.

Bobby Granger might be the best thing to happen to the rangers, maybe even MSG entirely, since the Rangers won the cup.

And last but not least, my personal favorite.  If you only watch one of these, shame on you by the way, it should be this one...

This blog is legen...wait for it...

dary!

Anywho, if you couldn't tell I've been watching tons of How I Met Your Mother this past week.  I've got weird shifts, and there's nothing on tv when I'm awake so it seems perfectly natural to spend my days doing this.  Quick fact that absolutely no one will likely care about, but there's a shot where you see a poster for the band Stairwell.  True story.

Here's a rundown of what's happened in my life since my last blog...

-As noted above, I now work the 4am shift which means I'm pretty useless for weeknights, but I get weekends off.  It's almost a sweet deal.

-I've got a new computer, it's smaller than the old one in pretty much everyway possible.  Still not sure how I feel about that.

-The writers strike has ended, or so it appears.  Find out when you're favorite shows are returning.  Some highlights are below.
>Heroes: No new episodes expected until the fall.
>How I Met Your Mother: Expected to shoot 9 new episodes and begin airing March 17.
>The Office: Will shoot six new episodes to air in April/May.

And last but certainly not least...
>SCRUBS: Four pre-strike episodes remain. Four additional episodes will likely be shot; unclear whether they'll air on NBC or go straight to DVD.

So please don't come to me
On my dying day
Just let me go in peace
With all the things
That I've forgot to say
Racing through my mind

New music reviews-

The Matches- A Band In Hope: I'm not entirely sold on this record just yet.  There's some real good songs here, and some that potentially could grow on me but right now I'm not too impressed.

The Morning Of- The World As We Know It: Male/female vocals, piano pop rock stuff.  It's fantastic, absolutely fantastic.  I don't really know how to describe their sound but for such a young band they've created a very good record and show glimpses of greatness.

Tiger Lou- Kind of interpolish, except not at all.  Good, good stuff.  Not the generic pop punk or screamo I usually rec.

Butch Walker- Leaving the Game on Luckie St: It's a live Butch Walker set from his hometown show and you can get it for free from therecordbusinessisfucked.com.

Also there was a way to download it below, but it might have changed to wil.i.am.

If Horse The Band manages to pull this tour off without dying, it might go down as the single most bad ass thing any band has ever done.

You know what's really sad?  The one thing I've sort of worked for that I have right now is the one thing I don't want.  It's kind of depressing.

I'm on a quest to give some of my friends new nic names.  Not entirely sure why, boredom I guess.  Anyways, once I proclaim a nicname I'm gonna do my best to make sure it sticks.  Stay tuned for more info...or just completely forget this as I most likely will.

Quick recap of my NYC trip of awesomeness.

-Nathan criticizing Mrs. Halloran's cooking: Awesome, and not awesome.
-Doing something that might actually embarass Jackie: Super awesome.
-"Suiting Up": Wicked awesome.
-Free train rides, awesome.
-Christina, Awesome.
-Christina's enthusiasm, the most awesome thing of the night.
-Tequillaville, awesome play on the Jimmy Buffet song, not so awesome prices.
-Long subway rides when Nate has to pee, the second most awesome thing of the night.
-A certain DJ telling me to piss in a playground, not awesome.
-Two guys who clearly have no sense of fun and called us faggots, although apperently appreciated our clothing choice, hella lame.

So there you have it draw what you will from what little I've written.  If you're reading this there's a good chance you were there and as such don't need a whole long detailed reminder.

Speaking of trips to NYC here's my long awaited and highly anticipated American Gladiators tryouts recapulation.

-Woke up early, free train ride to NYC.
-Expertly navigate our way to Crunch.
-See long line, see which way everyone is facing.
-Walk to front of line and realize half way we've taken the way long way.
-Get inside and it goes something like this.

Nate: Do you know who I am?
Clueless, yet attractive girl up front: No...
N: I'm nate from 98Q, I'm kind of a big deal.
CYAGUF: 98 who?
N: Listen woman who is clearly out of my league, have you met Dan?
CYAGUF: Oh I'm sorry I was too busy making out with your boss Dan.
N: He's the intern!  I'm Nate from 98Q!  RESPECT ME!
Dan: Nate, relax it's not very professional.  I'm sure once I'm done rocking this fine young lady's world and then rock the world of her and her friend at the same time they'll figure out what to do with you.
N: You're right sir.  I was completely out of line, I'll sit here and wait like the good little worker bee I am.
D: I'll see you in *looks at the two girls, checks watch* 60 minutes.

*Fifteen minutes later Dan returns*
N: Dude, I thought you said an hour, why so quick?
D: I had it, I had the belt within my grasp...
N: Then what?
D: Well Hulk Hogan showed up and was talking smack so now I'm on my way to the street to kick his ass and then I'll return my anxiously waiting ladies for an hour's worth of satisfaction.

*One minute later*
Hulk Hogan:  Oh brother, you broke my arm...In like twelve differenct places...Please *sniffles* show some mercy.
D: I know not the meaning of the word. *Kicks Hulk in the face so hard his head falls off, Nate's jaw drops wide enough for the Hulks head to get lodged in Nate's open mouth.*

*One hour later*
D: With the ladies completely satisfied I'm ready to get down to business.
N: Finally, I'm tired of sitting here and hearing pleasure moans while the female gladiators gave me wedgies and called me names.
D: Anywho let's get this show on the road.

-After that we shot some video, took some audio at the same time becausse I'm am that capable.
-Talked to a former contestant, who was awesome, shot some more video.
-Met an actual female gladiator.  Fury I think.
-Left and were back in the NS by noon.  Not a bad day.

Also I think Nate may have a recap on his blog, myspace.com/nateontheradio.

Inspired by Nate's blogs here's some videos for you to enjoy...Be aware that they're not nearly as awesome as the one's Nate uses but I'm just killing time here.

There was a point in time when I was a big fan of the Amazing Jonathan.

Mighty Ducks.  Enough said.

I'm way too easily entertained.

Even though I don't plan on attending here's the lineup for this year's warped in NYC.

All photos brought to you by bolded words and google images

A few quick notes from the Giants game.

-For the first time in my life I can remember having complete faith in a Giants quaterback.  It was extremely alarming when I was thinking to myself on punt returns, "just don't fumble, get the ball to Eli."

-Is there anyone in the world who looks worse now than Tiki Barber?  I don't think anyone has fallen from grace as quickly as he did.

-And finally, the Patriots are beatable.  Does that mean I believe it will happen? No.  But if the Giants have proven anything this post season it's that they truly excel in the underdog role, so who knows here's hoping they can shock the world, scratch that, nation and make my existance a little more enjoyable.

As I sit here without a computer of my own, I'm realizing the last.fm radio thingy is pretty sweet.  I can sit here and stream(legaly?) my iTunes library on shuffle.  It's a pretty good gig, so if you're not sure what to listen to and Nate at night is not on air head over to my last.fm profile and listen to what I listen to.

Quote of forever:

Nate: "Is she cute?"
Emily: "No, she's a lesbian."

Good times.

And if the Rangers don't start winning I might just kill myself.  There's absolutely no reason why any team with Brendan Shanahan and Chris Drury should be this bad.  I'm this close to ending my crush on Drury, I'll move on to someone else.  Who knows it could be Eli "Dan's hated me since the day I was drafted but I just got the Giants to the super bowl" Manning.  Consider yourself warned Chris.
