Various bits and pieces...

For those of you who may not subscribe to Murv's blog, you may not know that he is posting (mostly) weekly snippets of his books.  If you're a fan of the man and haven't quite gotten around to reading his books, then I would recommend that you wander over that way to see what you're missing.  He's on week six already (I know, I've been slacking), with two weeks left.

I will link to all six that are currently up though.

Week one: Harm None, Chapter 18
Week two: Never Burn A Witch, Prologue
Week three: Perfect Trust, Chapter 20
Week four: The Law of Three, Chapter 23
Week five: Crone's Moon, Chapter 3
Week six: Love is the Bond, Chapter 20

In other news...

The magazine that I mentioned in an earlier post is indeed out and I have my copy.  Murv's interview was first mention on the cover and had some really well thought out questions and very Murv-ish answers.  There are a few stores that are carrying the magazine.  You can check here to see if there's one near you, or you can order/subscribe here.

And a not so light bit of info ... If you're reading RGI ebooks, that's not good.  There are no official ebooks.  You can see what Murv had to say about it here.

According to the schedule, Murv's going to be in Tennessee a little later this month and in St. Louis early next month.

Now, I need to go tame the piles of laundry ... they're getting a little rowdy.

Assistance for our Pagan Military...
Current mood: hopeful

Hi, Folks! :)

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of speaking at an amazing Ostara festival held in the Ft. Hood/Killeen area of Texas. And one of the most memorable and touching moments for me was when one of our soldiers presented me with a coin specifically reserved for members of the Victory Base Open Circle in Baghdad. [For those of you who aren’t familiar with VBOC, it’s the largest Pagan worship group for members of the military stationed in the Middle East, and is currently headed by Fred Twombly, an Asatru Priest.]

At any rate, I got in touch with Fred to let him know just much the presentation meant to me.  And in the course of our conversation, I discovered that he’s recently formed a lending library for VBOC members, and obtained space in the local chapel to contain it.

Not long after, I got a note from Tabitha Pierzchala, a Georgian High Priestess, who heads the Open Circle at Camp Cooke, which is about 25 miles or so from Victory Base.  [Gotta love synchronicity!  ;)]  And what did I discover?  That she has also organized a lending library for their members!

Fact of the matter is that both of these wonderful organizations could use your help.

These folks are starving for reading material - both spiritual and otherwise.  [Newspapers and magazines are also welcome, as nearly all of the print media in the Middle East is presented in languages other than English.]  They could also use altar and ritual supplies such as small cauldrons, chalices, candle holders, incense, crystals, altar cloths, pentacles, God and Goddess symbols, and small pendants denoting Pagan affiliation [pentagrams, Thor’s hammer pendants, crescent moons, etc.]

So if any of you have books - or any of the other items listed - that you no longer want or are no longer using, I urge you to donate them to these fabulous causes. This small effort on your part will not only be much appreciated, but is quite minor when compared to all that our military men and women do for us.

Shipments may be sent by priority mail [use USPS flat rate boxes to save on shipping costs] to:

Tabitha Pierzchala
USACE, Camp Cooke
APO, AE 09378

Fred Twombly

HHC 11th SIG BDE

APO, AE 09342

Much love and many hugs!

A catch up post of sorts...

So, there have been a few things that have gone on since the last post on here (as long as you exclude my introduction post).

The most obvious of these things is that the third installment of the Miranda Trilogy has indeed been released and, in January, was nominated for a "Preditors & Editors Reader’s Poll Award" in the Best Horror Novel of 2007 category.  TEOD took second place this year.  This is the second year in a row that MRS "took home" a P&E award.  (If you all recall, All Acts of Pleasure captured first place in it’s category in the 2006 P&E awards.)  Congratulations Murv.

He has started writing book 9 of the RGI series (and the inspiration behind the new layout), Blood Moon.  In October of this year, Blood Moon will be released with Dorothy Morrison’s Lucinda’s Web and there will be a joint book release tour.  The release party will be held at 13 Magickal Moons Occoquan, VA (October 3rd and 4th) and the tour will head through the southern part of the US from there.  (You can check out the tour schedule on this page, or by going here.)

This past Monday (right after I took over the page, so it didn’t get posted ... sorry about that), Murv "appeared" on the
Paranormal Divas internet talk show.  (The Paranormal Divas  internet talk show is on every Monday from 9-10 EST.)  He said that he had a great time doing the show and that they want to have him back on sometime.  So, I’ll keep you posted.

Murv also did an email/phone interview with a writer for Modern Witch Magazine and the artical should be in their maiden issue (I believe) which will be for Beltane.  Right now, Modern Witch is taking subscriptions for their new quarterly magazine and their offering a 10% discount if you subscribe by March 20th.  You can also order their first issue for the $6 cover price.

Right now though, Murv is getting set to head to Texas to goof off with Dorothy Morrison for four days.  You can check out where they’ll be causing trouble on the tour schedule on the front page.

That’s all for now.  I’m sure I probably missed some things, but it’s been a long time since the last update.

Updating the page and new "management"

Hello everyone.  I'm going to make this fairly short because I have to wrangle 4 cats and haul them all to the vet for their yearly shots and check up (and I get to do this all by myself... isn't that fun).

My name is Hollie ... a.k.a. Crystal Rose (if you've been to the RGI Forums) or Rosie here on MySpace.  I've volunteered to help keep this page a little more up to date than it's been lately and I also want to spruce it up a little bit, so the page will be under some construction.  Nothing too heavy though.  Wouldn't want to slow traffic down.

If anyone has any thoughts on what they'd like to see here, please post a comment.  I have plans to add a tour schedule at the very least.  But, this page is for the fans, so please, let me know what you want.

M.R. Sellars talks tours and the new book.

Fresh off Writing Sabbatical, M.R. Sellars is about to embark upon a tour of the United States that will whisk him through thirteen States throughout the summer and fall.

He will be joined in May by the illustrious Dorothy Morrison. When all is said and done, they will have tackled 11 states, making 14 stops. That is, if they survive traveling together!

The Fansite thought we'd interrupt long enough to ask a few questions about this tour, touring in general, and the new book...

So, less than two months until the tour is in full swing. Are you excited?

Yes and no. Yes, in that I am always excited about hanging with fans--old and new. Getting to meet folks
and generally see the country (although there isn't really much time for sightseeing). The no part,
however, is easy. I mean, think about it...I'm going to be stuck with Morrison for two weeks...How in the
world could I be looking forward to that? (GRIN)
Actually, Morrison and I have a blast on tour together. As I've said before, she's like my big sister.
Truth is, it's probably good we don't live closer to one another, because we'd spend all of our time
chit-chatting and drinking way too much coffee (which is pretty much what we do on tour together, when we
aren't actually "working")...Either way, we'd never get anything done.

Is there any one stop that you're really looking forward to this year?

All of them, really. It is kind of hard to pick. I mean, our first stop, PUF is always a blast. Our
second stop is in Indiana so that means I get to hang out with another good friend, Edain McCoy. I
haven't had a chance to hang with her since our last tour together in 2005. We are going to be hitting
some stores in Pennsylvania, and that is a new market for me, so that is always something to look forward
to. Then there's Maine. Always a blast, with great folks and good friends, plus they've been known to
toss a lobster in my direction, which is ALWAYS good in my book *grin*...Then we have a place in New York
which has already sold out our workshop, so that is very exciting. One of our travel days coming back
from New York will see us getting a chance to drop in on a couple of old friends who we don't get to see
very often, so I am all about that too. Then we have a couple of great gigs in Virginia, both places that
I have been to before and the folks are fantastic...BUT, if pressed, I would have to say the stop I am
looking forward to most is the last one-- that being when I return to St. Louis after 15+ days on the
road.

What's the worst part of touring?

Being stuck with Morrison for two weeks. (Just Kidding!) Morrison is who actually makes it bearable.
Basically we can commiserate (LOL)...But, the worst part is actually being away from my family. I'm
actually pretty much of a homebody, and my wife and daughter are the center of my personal universe.
Being away from them for a long weekend is bad, for a week worse, and for two weeks, well...let's just
say that's the biggest reason the stop I am looking forward to most is the one where I return home.
*grin*

What's your main form of transportation while you're on tour?

Pogo sticks and unicycles...No...that's not it...Rickshaws? No, not it either. Planes, trains, and
automobiles? Hmmmm...That was a movie with Steve Martin and John Candy...But seriously, the Plane and
Automobile this is right on. Usually if an event or group of bookstores bring me in they fly me to a
central point then shuttle me around. In this particular case, since it is a tour we set up ourselves,
Morrison will fly into St. Louis, whereupon we will pile into my wife's van and go to Nashville for the
first stop, that being PUF. When we return 4 days later, we will rent a car and start across the country.
Since the tour ends in Virginia, I will bid farewell to Morrison, her husband Mark, and their terrific
pooch, Sadie, and board a big jet airplane for home. So 1 if by land, 2 if by air, and not doing sea this
go around.

What do you listen to while you're on the road?

Morrison. She never shuts up. (Just wait until she reads this. She's going to kill me.) Seriously,
though, we pretty much listen to each other, because we both jabber constantly when we are on the road
together. Anything from book ideas and BS'ing about the publishing industry to complaining about our
aches and pains. Trust me, there are times when if you heard us you would think we belonged on the porch
of the old author's home warming some rocking chairs.
Now, when I am traveling alone, I always have my MP3 player hanging around my neck. I use it to keep from
dealing with crazy people who always seem to sit next to me on airplanes. Although, I must admit that
when returning from a layover in Salt Lake City I ended up seated with a lovely couple who were an
absolute blast. We had ourselves a regular party in the back of the plane, with much alcohol and extra
snacks we conned the flight attendants into giving us.
But, back to the original question, my MP3 player is loaded with an eclectic mix. Styx, Metallica, Black
Sabbath, the soundtrack from Firefly and Serenity, some folk, some ELP...All kinds of stuff.

You and Dorothy Morrison are making a weblog of this trip. Are you feeling mischievous? Can we expect an "outtakes" vid?

Are you serious? Morrison and I are completely straight laced and upstanding individuals. We would never
do such a thing... *grin* In all honesty, other than taping a couple of our workshops, I really suspect
that the ENTIRE videolog will be one giant outtake/gag reel. (LOL)

Does this tour mean "The End of Desire" is finished?

Alas, I wish I could say yes, but I cannot. I actually got diverted from it with some other projects,
among them being a short story submission for an anthology. It involved part of the gang from the RGI
books, but since the anthology itself was of the Horror genre, I had to do some research and such to
figure out how to write it and still have the characters keep both feet firmly planted in Rowan's world.
I didn't want to destroy the RGI Mythos...Either way, at this juncture the short is finished but I can't really
say any more about it other than the fact that it is for a different publishing house. When my editor
unties me and takes the ball gag out of my mouth (Yeah, just wait until she reads this...*lol*) I'll be
able to say more. Maybe. ;)
But, The End of Desire is coming along nicely. I will admit that I am currently obsessing over whether or
not I should include a bit more of the backstory in the earlier chapters. I've pretty much decided that I
definitely NEED to do so, I just haven't figured out quite HOW I want to do it. But, that is something I can go back and add in before it gets submitted, so it's all good.

Any hints or secret info about the book we can pry out of you?

Hmmm...Well, if you read it backwards and skip every seventh word, it provides you with detailed
directions to the location of the Holy Grail.
Now, ignore the alligators and just imagine everything you can do with this piece of prime swampland....
Seriously though, I don't want to give too much away. Let's just say that Miranda is not very happy, and
she felt a need to kill again. Not surprising, what with her being a serial killer and all, but since All
Acts Of Pleasure was sans murders, I thought I would forewarn everyone. (LOL)...Other than that, Rowan
ends up going it alone just a bit in this one, so with not having Felicity and Ben around to keep him
from doing something impulsive he is having a tendency to get himself in a bit of hot water (not that
they are always able to stop him anyway, but they do tend to be there to keep him out of too much
trouble.)
Oh, and at the end, everybody dies. (Just kidding) Actually, everybody lives happily ever after. (You
don't really believe that do you?) Let's just leave it that the end will sorta, kinda, wrap things up,
maybe a little bit, kinda, sorta... (Big Evil Grin)

....So there you go. The ups and downs of touring and a bit about the book to chew on...

Make sure to check the tour schedule for an appearance near you. It's available in an earlier blog, or you can find it here.

Books are available directly through Willow Tree Press.

Also, the Tour Shirts are still available here, as well as other swag and coolness here.

Enjoy and Thanks for Reading!

All Acts of Pleasure takes first place! Thanks to all those who voted!

Here is the Press Release, direct from

Willow Tree Press:

WTP AUTHOR WINS AWARD
M. R. Sellars' All Acts of Pleasure Wins P&E Award

All Acts Of Pleasure, book 7 in the best-selling Rowan Gant Investigations Paranormal Thriller series, and book 2 of the Miranda Trilogy story arc, has won first place in the "Preditors & Editors Readers Choice Poll" for the Mainstream Novel category.

The poll is held once per year and allows readers worldwide to vote for books from Independent as well as the well-known Mega-Publishers. Several categories ranging from Mainstream to Horror Fiction, and everything in between are populated with nominations.

Congratulations to M. R. Sellars on the receipt of this honor.
- - - - -
M. R. Sellars is a practicing Witch and Elder of the Grove of the Old Ways, as well as being a best selling novelist. His series, the Rowan Gant Investigations offers readers a dose of real-life pagan concepts woven within gut wrenching occult suspense-thrillers. His deadpan observations of the world around him have prompted Sellars to be called the "Dennis Miller of Paganism."

All seven books in the RGI series have spent numerous weeks on bookstore best-seller lists, as well as garnering several literary awards. The most recent novels in the series are the explosive and revealing "Miranda Trilogy" which began with Love Is The Bond (2005), continued in All Acts Of Pleasure (2006), and is set to conclude in The End Of Desire (Autumn 2007). Future RGI novels beyond the trilogy have already been contracted.
