The Versailles Sessions
Current mood: working

Dear friends.

Just posted a new track from the upcoming The Versailles Sessions CD/LP, which is a commission turned album. It was done for the 2007 Les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes festival that takes place @ the Versailles castle each year during the summer. This work is entirely derived from a recording session we did in paris with musicians specialized in baroque music and instruments.
It'll be released first in France (available @ Versailles and other castles only) in september by GetSound, and it will be re released worldwide by The Leaf Label later this year.
This is a special release, so it breaks away from the m-u-r-c-o-f nomenclature, the next in the m-u-r-c-o-f series will be called Océano, more info soon...

cheers!

I appreciate every single one message/comment and I'm thankfull to you for taking the time to write, but it's honestly getting overwhelming, so please, if you are trying to contact me expecting me to reply please use my personal email: "@ murcof . com".

Please delete me!

That's right, I need to ask a favor of you fine people, to please delete the "Cosmos" EP you downloaded from SoulSeek, LimeWire or the such.

This is because of one simple reason, they are not the final versions, they are near-final versions that leaked into the net.

The final version of these tracks are going to be available on the "Cosmos" album, wich will be out early september this year, so you can listen to it how it was meant to be heard.

Thanks!

Press quotes on the 2005 Murcof album, Remembranza, wich is now available worldwide.

Here are some press quotes of the 2005 Murcof album Remembranza, wich is available on CD Digipack and Double LP on The Leaf Label wordwide (soon available in Mexico on Static Discos) and at online downloadable music shops such as iTunes.

"Amazing…Clean-edged, disturbing panoramas of sound that combine the electronic and live instrumentation in a seamless and unique way…Superb, dark ambience that needs to be heard." DJ Magazine

"Remembranza [takes Martes'] minimalist laptop fundamentals and polishes further, honing and refining…carefully restrained elements on a bittersweet pillow of stroking and swooping string arrangements. His judgement is extremely precise. The balance is perfect." The Wire

"Listen to it and you're immersed in a world of…deep reverberations that seem to come from a distant underwater cathedral…this is mesmerising." The Guardian

'Immensely rich…there is exceptional depth and detail here, and a painstaking and precise layering of sounds that is finely worked in process, and lustrous in effect…Remembranza has a sound so organic and natural that it seems as if it was found just so, part of the breathtaking scenery. And yet it is clearly deftly constructed and finished, presented as an exquisite and perfect artefact." Undercover

"An elegiac, at times claustrophobic, minor-key symphony with a metallic electronic sheen." The Independent

"A work of unimaginable complexity and staggering simplicity… a haunting collection of atmospheric music of a style few have ever managed to crack with such grace." Indigoflow

"Calm beauty…File under beautiful music" Other Music

"With Remembranza Fernando Corona creates an overwhelming stillness, like peering into an immense darkness… a vast and unspeakably haunting emotional terrain. Stunning." Rocksound Magazine

Remembranza serves as a resonant screen upon which it is possible to project one's own feelings and memories". The Milk Factory

"Exquisitely spare, generally sombre mix of microhouse and contemporary classical music" Uncut

"An instantly identifiable and unique sound… Murcof has surpassed his acclaimed debut album with a refined progression that seems utterly effortless." Kaleidoscope Frenzy

"Remembranza… will certainly make my best of the year list… A prime piece of audio for your own interior film." Musique Machine

"A minimal but multi layered fusion of neo-classical & electronica with a deeply beautiful vibe…there's not many artists that can achieve this calibre of music but Murcof once again delivers." Alive.co.uk

"A downtempo masterpiece…this has the strange, alien beauty of the centre of a vast city left empty in the early hours" Penny Black Music

"It's hard to believe that Remembranza is actually only the second true full-length from Murcof... "cinematic" is a term that definitely comes to mind when listening to Remembranza... There have been numerous electronic musicians that have tried to encorporate classical music into their sound, but it often comes across as pieced together, but with his newest effort Murcof has really blended the two in as fluid of a way as I've ever heard" Almost Cool

"...it's ambient on a grand scale... Corona retains his ability to conjure huge vistas of sound and imagined views with so few obvious ingredients" Future Boogie

"This is one dense, dark, mysterious work-not just a Remembranza, but a truly evocative sonic extravaganza by one of ambient music's real pioneers". Playback

"Only the very best manage to imbue the genre with genuine emotion of any kind. Happily, Murcof is easily amongst that elite group... If David Lynch is looking for a new collaborator for the score to his next film, then I'd say he needs look no further". To Hell With
