GEEZ! I sure wish people would stop saying GREAT THINGS about our new record!
Current mood: drunk

I mean really now guys. This is starting to get a little ridiculous...

Music For Robots (Los Angeles, CA)
"Sure, it's loud guitars and banging drums, but that's all window-dressing for the fantastic songs."
Full Review

A Limerick Ox
"Loud, gritty, straight-up, guitar-heavy power-pop (three hyphenated words in a row: RECORD!) accompanied by blistering vocals and an implacable disposition which cries out to our primal rock-out nerves, dripping with confidence and nervy goodness."Full Review

The Austin Chronicle (Austin, TX)
"An impressive response of raw riffage. Opener "Playhouse Down" rides anthemic la-la-las and hooky guitar, and it must be said that Murdocks write extremely catchy pop. The six tracks linger around three minutes each and are all riled up, save for sweet closer "Boy," which stretches out under guitarist Franklin Morris' gravel-howl pleas."
Full Review

Rock Sellout
"In true "more meat than potatoes" fashion, this stuff grabs me right by the balls and gains my undivided attention. It didn't require repeated listens…completely fuss free, it delivered the goods the first time around."
Full Review

The Daily Helmsman (Memphis, TN)
"The trio concocts a strange brew of indie and garage rock made saccharine with power-pop, but laced with strychnine lyrics like, "Her abortion like molasses slowing the hands of time."'
Full Review

Michigan Daily (Ann Arbor, MI)
"The Murdocks is a balls-to-the-wall concoction of Rancid-esque pop-punk energy with Shins-style delicate melodies. The Austin-based trio, led by singer/guitarist Franklin Morris, creates power-pop that alienates neither sweaty garage rockers sensitive basement-dwellers."
Full Review

What To Wear During Orange Alert (St. Charles, IL)
"Their new ep Roar! (Out April 1st, Surprise Truck) does just that, it roars with the excitement of pure rock n' roll."
Full Review

The Daily Campus - University of Connecticut
"Their music comes off with the energy of Brit-rock groups ... but it definitely has its roots in the garage rock/punk genre."
Full Review

Hot Biscuits
"I'm not real big on alt/punk/anything rock, but I can appreciate good production and an overall entertaining sound. It's refreshing to hear a singer who can actually hit the notes he's shooting for, and Franklin Morris does just that. "

Murdocks @ Hole In The Wall (Pics!)
Current mood: dirty

Thanks to everyone that came out to welcome Dave and Kyle to the band.  We had a great time and were totally impressed by the turnout and the energy of the crowd.  Here are some pics of the show:

I don't know the name of the guy that took the pictures ... but as soon as I find out I will edit this post to give him some credit.

Thanks again for coming out everybody!  I hope to see you all at Red Fez this Friday!

New Poop

I'm tired so I will make this quick:

New stuff for a new year.
Murdocks are complete.
We are recording at Las Olas Saturday.
All new songs.
Filming a new video.
Trying out new foods.
With new people.

Shortly after January 2007 we will be playing new shows. We are booking them now.

Then we will go on a new tour and have new shirts and *gasp* even a new album and do all of that stuff that bands do.

There will be new announcements shortly about band members, videos, pictures, etc.... in the next few months.

So yeah ... we are NOT broken up.

We will live forever. Like cancer.

Kindest Regards,

Murdocks

Dear Crappy Myspace Emo Bands....
Current mood: dorky

Please stop sending me emails.

I don't care if I like ________ and you claim they are one of your influences (even though you sound nothing like ________).
I don't care if I am on ______'s friends list.
I don't care about your new goddamn pictures where you and everyone in your band is sporting tired, MTV TRL haircuts.

And I certainly don't want to be your friend.

I don't spam you.

So don't spam me.

Stop.

Please.

Dick.

New Drummer, Mixtape Club, New Releases, Manager and a Movie!

MURDOCKS SEEKING NEW DRUMMER:::
The more things change the more things stay the same my friends. Tim Dittmar is leaving our little family to continue to pursue his career as a recording engineer at Las Olas Recording Studio and to dedicate more time to his project with his wife (Annabella). We are splitting with Tim on the best of terms ... he has been an awesome friend and drummer, and he will be missed terribly. So the search is on now for lucky Murdocks drummer ..6. We have some prospects for new drummers and should be playing shows and recording again in no time.

NEW MURDOCKS MIXTAPE CLUB LAUNCHING:::

For MURDOCKS freaks only ... We are starting a new subscription service to pump out new and old unreleased material and keep you bitches interested until our next official release. For those who want to sign up, at the beginning of every monthly you will receive a CD in the mail with a mix of: New Murdocks Demos, Alternate Versions of Already Released Songs, Early Unreleased Material from our back catalog, A crappy song or two that we hate and decided not to play ever again, Live tracks, Radio performances and Interview clips, Cover songs, Some songs by our favorite Texas Bands, Other songs by some of our favorite bands from around the world that you should love. Can you think of another band that gives so much to their fans on a monthly basis? If this sounds like something you would be interested in check out the details and signup HERE.

TWO MURDOCKS SEVEN INCHES CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION:::

Indierect Records based in Austin, TX will be releasing a split 7 inch between MURDOCKS and New York City's Demander. Murdocks will be contributing a new (and incredibly dark) song titled "Black Jesus Knocking" and Demander will be contributing the track "Greenwich Mean Time". This limited edition kick ass single will be pressed on blood red vinyl and will be available to the general public in mid-march.

Unterm Durcschnitt Records based in Koln, Germany will be releasing a split 7 inch between the German band Bleak and your precious MURDOCKS. Each band will be contributing two new studio tracks. The MURDOCKS side will feature the new song "King Me" and one other new song yet to be named. This will only be available to you dirty Americans as an import single so make sure to pick one up later this spring.

MURDOCKS SIGN WITH THE AGITPROP BUREAU FOR MANAGEMENT:::
Most of you outside "The Biz" won't give two shits about this but our longtime mentor and shaman of the Murdocks tribe Geoffrey Schullman has agreed to bring us on board his management agency and will from this point on be handling all of our business affairs. Geoffrey's dark past includes time served as direcor of A&R for Arista and A&M Records. He also currently heads the Commercial Music Management department at ACC and has a ponytail. Welcome aboard Geoffrey!.

TWO MURDOCKS SONGS TO BE FEATURED IN NEW HORROR FILM "WITCHCRAFT XIII: BLOOD OF THE CHOSEN":::
MURDOCKS, darlings of all media, will have two songs placed in director Mel House's Witchcraft XIII: Blood Of The Chosen. This film, the latest in the Witchcraft Series, is a straight to video release that will be available in videostores nationwide and on netflix (for movie nerds like me). Of the two MURDOCKS tracks featured in the film one will be thus far unrleased. Judging from the trailer there is plenty of blood and T&A so keep an eye out.

Thanks for your support everyone. I know it has been a long time since our last update.

New Releases, Shows, Radio, Press, and More!
Current mood: awake

MURDOCKS UPDATE!
So it may seem to some of you like there isn’t a lot going on in the world of The Murdocks but here is a little update to prove you all wrong. We never intended to be taking time off this fall but as it happens we have been bitten by the inspiration bug. It might be the summer wind, or the rain, or the drugs, but we already have enough new material to record a follow up just 4 months after the release of SURRENDERENDER. We have boarded ourself up in our practice room (with no food or water) and spent the last several months rehearsing and recording and preparing for more shows in the late fall.

MURDOCKS LIVE SESSION TO BE BROADCAST ON NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO
That is correct my friends! Murdocks recorded a 30 min. live session for NPR last month. The session consists of 4 songs (3 of them unreleased) and lots of interviews. It will air in Austin around the begining of October and nationally later this fall most likely. Keep an eye on our website for details!

NEW MURDOCKS TRACK FEATURED ON UPCOMING CAN'T AFFORD EM RECORDS COMP.
Murdocks will be donating a brand new song that none of you have heard before (entitled "Last Train Out") to the upcoming Can't Afford Em Records Compilation "FROM TX TO THE BX". The compilation is slated to be released in the next couple of months so keep an eye out at www.cantaffordem.com or just keep an eye on our official website www.the-murdocks.com for details as they are released.

MURDOCKS INTERVIEW FEATURE IN AUGUST ISSUE OF RAG
Rag Magazine from Florida did a huge feature on us this month. Good article / interview with lots of praise and interesting nuggets of knowledge about the band. Check it out here:

OTHER STUFF
We expect to be doing 1 or 2 other releases this fall but I don't want to drop the details until we actually have product in hand! Though it is very likely that you will be able to buy some new Murdocks CDs (Compilations atleast) and Vinyl this fall.

Thank you everybody for your continued support. See you all on the road!

MURDOCKS CANCEL WEST COAST TOUR

It is with great pain and misery that I am forced to inform the world that we (Murdocks) are cancelling our August West Coast tour dates. Please check our myspace (by clicking the picture above) to check out our most up to date list of shows.

We have no doubt that many of you will turn to looting and rioting in the wake of this great tragedy. We only ask that you all remain calm, stay in your homes, and do not engage in un-murdock like activity in order to help the healing process take hold on a national scale.

Sorry to everyone that will be missing out on seeing us live this month, but we will do our best to reschedule the dates for later this fall.

Thank you for your time,

-MURDOCKS of North America-

Pumpin' fer the man
Current mood: savage

So, we made it back from tour alive. Tim was the shit, as was expected. Rob and Frank were also the shit, to everyone's surprise. All in all it was a good time had by all.
A few highlights:
Frank doing coke with a cop, off the urinal, in the bathroom of a seedy Detroit rock club. Tim shaming a seven foot tall, drunken, behemoeth at a Pennsylvania gas station. Rob hanging out with Yoko Ono in Central Park.
Touring has been good to us. So far, I think we're winning. All the other bands that we saw heading out at the same time as us either died of exposure, or were picked off by pirates somewhere in West Virginia. But if you want that winning streak to continue you'll have to come give us your money, or love. There's only so much to go around, and far too many shitty bands; so if you think that we don't fall into that category, give us yours.
Yeah. We have the Warped Tour coming up this June 25, but we're also playing McAllen TX in July, so come out to that all you border kids.

Adios,
Los Murdocks
