My filthy London neighbours! hehe

At about midnight the couple upstairs started having sex VERY loudly. Lots of moaning and groaning coming from the woman and what not, it wasn't particularly pleasant. Then the man asked the woman if he could do her up the bum. The woman started shouting NO, NO, NO etc in a very stern authoritive voice. Because she wouldn't put out for him they had a big argument. Anyways, I'm lying in bed at 2am, and suddenly I hear the woman shouting 'bark like a dog, b*tch' and the man started barking, and soon after he was moaning, groaning and howling quite a lot too!!!!!!  Hahaha!

Notes re: change in Prime Minister from 10 Downing Street

Just saw this from the Prime Minister's Official Spokesman (PMOS) regarding Tony Blair's departure, and Gordon Brown's take over today... made me giggle somewhat that these questions are being thought of, but also that they have planned answers!!!

"Asked if it was technically the case that we would be without a Prime Minister during the hiatus between Tony Blair resigning and Gordon Brown accepting, and asked if that were the case, what would happen in the event of an emergency, the PMOS shared his briefing note with Lobby. It read:

(Once Tony Blair has travelled to Buckingham Palace to offer his resignation)

At what point does Gordon Brown become Prime Minister?
When the Queen asks him to form a Government

Who is in charge in the interim?
Don't be so silly!

The PMOS added that given the relative shortage of time, and the expertise in getting cars in and out of the Palace, "don't be so silly" covered it."

Four white lions born in French zoo

JURQUES, France (AFP) - Four white lions were born in a zoo in western France at the weekend, providing a welcome boost for the species whose population is teetering at about 30 worldwide, a zoo official said Wednesday.

The male and three female cubs, white as snow and weighing about 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds), were separated from their mother at birth because she appeared to lack parenting skills.

"Nyala, their mother, wasn't taking care of them. It's as if she didn't know what to do," said Bernadette Oury, director of the Jurques zoo in western France where the four were born on Sunday.

"They are in full health and we are thrilled," said Oury.

The 30-odd white lions in the world today live in captivity in zoos or game reserves, representing all that is left of a species that originated in South Africa.

This year's X Factor auditionee's.....

Who ever said that living in the heart of Manchester isn't fun??? For the past few days we've had all of the X-Factor* auditions happening at the Lowry Hotel , which is just across the road from us (theye are the ones that they pretend are their first ones... but really the auditionees have already been pre-screened at the open auditions!).

This year there seems to be a lot of people who are the warehouse worker type (it's always the people with really odd/crap sounding jobs like that who can't sing but who really truly think that they're genuinely as good as the late great Freddie Mercury... and I bet you this year at least one of the people that you're giggling at works in a warehouse!), though fortunately there have been one or two fitties knocking about too! :-)

We'll have to wait until late August to hear them sing, but judging from the amount of people in weird costumes that I've seen these past few days... we're in for a good one!! :-)

Incidentally - I bumped into Ben Shephard yesterday whilst walking over the bridge to the Lowry on my way to the dentist - yum! That's a guy who I wouldn't mind letting fill my cavities!

Mister Marc is a huge Ben Shephard fan and wasn't best impressed that I saw him though - hehe!

Hope that everyone's alright?

Manchester City Centre Fire.....

My home city of Manchester was making headline news yesterday due to this fire... it was only a block away from our offices and so we were right in the thick of things....

On a day when we expose major security flaws within MI5, a 12 year old girl gets stabbed, and Northern Ireland goes smoke-free, it's rather strange to think that our street was involved in the most read news story on the BBC yesterday, and was headline news across the country all morning...!

From www.bbc.co.uk/news;

Major fire disrupts city centre

More than 120 firefighters have been tackling two huge fires in Manchester city centre - one of which completely destroyed a five-storey building.

The blaze in a comm ercial building on Dale Street has been brought under control, although crews are continuing to tackle a fire in the block opposite.

An inquiry is yet to begin, but it was initially believed that embers from the first fire sparked the second.

There were also unconfirmed reports a person may have been trapped inside.

The first fire crews on the scene were told some people may have been sleeping rough in the building, but Greater Manchester Police said they did not believe anyone was trapped inside.

Traffic is being disrupted on nearby roads and motorists are advised to avoid the area, which is likely to remain cordoned off for about 24 hours.

We managed to bring the fire under control but the building is completely destroyed

Bill Harrop, Fire Service

At its height, more than 25 fire appliances, police and paramedics were are all at the scene in the Northern Quarter.

The alarm was raised at 0555 BST and the incident quickly escalated.

A number of streets including Dale Street, Lever Street, Hilton Street, Newton Street and part of Oldham Road were closed, leading to chaotic traffic in the surrounding area.

Bill Harrop, Borough Commander for Greater Manchester Fire Service, said: "We managed to bring the fire under control but the building is completely destroyed. There is a real risk that it may collapse.

"There were early reports of a number of people possibly missing but we cannot confirm yet that anyone was inside.

"It is too early to say how the fire started or how it spread. A joint investigation between the fire service and police is under way."

Mr Harrop said flames in the second building had affected the upper floors and the roof, which had partially collapsed.

But although there were fears the building was in danger - at one point firefighters inside were ordered out - he said engineers had declared it structurally safe.

Mr Harrop said the entire block of buildings had been evacuated as a result of the blaze.

He added: "This is an extremely difficult fire. We were struggling for access... this is a very, very difficult incident to tackle."

The fire service is expecting to scale down its operations during the afternoon, but firefighters could remain at the site for a number of days.

Earlier, Greater Manchester Fire Service spokesman Ged Higgins said only the shell of the first building remained - all the internal floors and the roof had been destroyed.

Resident's 'panic'

Structural engineers and gas experts are at the scene of the fire, near the busy Piccadilly shopping area, but there is believed to be no risk to the public.

The area is packed with narrow streets and Victorian warehouse buildings which have been converted into retail, commercial and apartment units.

Resident David Lembergh, 38, who has an office and apartment in the second building told the BBC he had a lucky escape because he was staying with his mother.

He said: "I got a call first thing from a fellow resident saying, 'Are you out of the building? Are you out of the building because the roof is on fire.'

"Obviously I got in a panic because I know various other people who live there and I was ringing them and luckily everyone escaped.

"The main thing is nobody is injured, hurt or has been killed but I am slightly concerned all my personal items are secure."

The Island [2005] - Must See Movie!
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Ello,

Marc and I got around to watching a film called 'The Island' the other day, and it was sooo fab that I had to share it with you guys!

It's a vey relevant and thought provoking film, and the obvious concern is that the issues that are raised in this film might well disgust us/horrify us now.... but in ten years time, WE will be the same generation of people who start to believe that we are right to do what they are doing in this film.

A big budget film, and a fantastic one at that. If you've not yet seen it then either go rent a copy, or see if Sky are airing it (seen it scheduled a few times on the EPG).

Synopsis from Amazon.co.uk and the trailer are below! xx

SYNOPSIS

In this action thriller from director Michael Bay ('Pearl Harbour', 'Armageddon'), survivors of global contamination live in a sterile, self-contained world where their every move is monitored. The rules are easy: be pleasant, refrain from asking questions, and don't rock the boat. Everything they need is provided for them, from the white uniforms that magically appear in their closets, to their customized cafeteria-style meals. The survivors all eagerly await their big payoff: winning the lottery and being sent to The Island, the only remaining untainted land in the world. But Lincoln Six-Echo (Ewan McGregor) yearns for more from his life and begins to wonder what really lies outside the thick walls. When his best friend, Jordan Two-Delta (Scarlett Johansson), wins the lottery, he knows that he has to find out the truth about their world before she departs. What he finds is terrifying enough to send Lincoln and Jordan fleeing from the facility to the real world where they quickly discover that they are clones, and that both The Island and global contamination are a ruse. The clones sole purpose is to be harvested for replacement parts when their sponsors need them. With his business now in jeopardy, Dr. Merrick (Sean Bean), the founder of the cloning company, hires a crack team led by Albert Laurent (Djimon Hounsou) to track down his escaped product. Wild chase scenes through Los Angeles circa 2050 are punctuated by high-tech transportation as Lincoln and Jordan run for their lives and try to assimilate into a world that is completely foreign to them. The futuristic set design and visual effects are particularly impressive. McGregor and Johansson both expertly communicate the human element and desire for life that has developed in the two clones, while still finding humour and awe in their childlike naivety.

My recent trip to Blackpool!
Category: Travel and Places

Hey,

As many of you may know, I went to Blackpool with my Marc last weekend, and just thought I'd blog my thoughts about it!

Links to detailed info about Blackpool can be found on links posted on my earlier blog from last Sunday.

Blackpool used to be a childhood favourite place of mine, but I'm sorry to say that looking back I'm not such a fan anymore...

I'll start with the worst first, and then end on a positive!

No longer are there all that many quality entertainment hot-spots in Blackpool - instead it would seem that ramshackle places like 'Pat's Bingo' and 'Slots of Fun' (No... it isn't a porn shop! And yes it looked anything but fun!) are in abundance, definately bringing the promenade area down in desirableness (ooo I created a new word!).

When we got off the train at Blackpool North station I had feared that the below was the best ride that we were going to see!

Especially when I saw that the rides had been all but removed from the piers on the seafront! You can just make out the Big Wheel's supports on the left.

There were also donkies on the beach for people to ride. I think that this is really cruel and the donkies were not in the best of health - neither were the pony and traps that were making their way down the promenade either - poor horses! I'm suprised the RSPCA don't do something stronger about this!

(NB - Is donkies the correct plural? isn't donkey/ies such a weird and wonderful word?!?!?!)

There were also a LOT of undesriable people hanging around the seafront, trying to beg for money, forcibly stoping you from walking down the street until they'd hounded you for money/to come in their shops. If they didn't like the fact that we wouldn't give money or wouldn't stop etc then I heard many of them shout homophobic abuse after us. Fucking small minded arse-holes!  (this also happened to us last time too).

By the time we got to the Pleasure Beach (huge theme park) admittedly I wasn't in the best of moods! However it is from this point on that we started having a fantastic time!!!

After rushing off to the Dodgems, we then went on quite a few other rides including ....

The ancient Ghost train!

And the Noah's Ark fun house!

The cowtail swung up and hit Marc whilst the thing let out a huge Moooo! Marc jumped for his life bless him lol!!!

Marc's favourite bit of the Ark! lol.

As a child, I always used to be petrified of two things; the laughing clown and the big giant! I can remember sitting on a ride once as a young toddler and screaming because out of the corner of my eye I could see the giant!

Also at Blackpool is the ride Valhallah - the queues were huge so we didn't go on - but it's basically a rollercoaster in the dark. Marc tells me that there's a ring of fire (or something equally as cool sounding) inside of it!

On the way back up to the station, we stopped in at my favourite amusement centre, Coral Island - how fab does it look from the outside?!?! Won a couple of quid on the fruit machines - so that's always good! And look how much better it looks compared to 'Slots of Fun' - which one looks the more fun to you?!

Finally, it wouldn't be a trip to Blackpool without a picture of Blackpool Tower!

Thus, whilst the start of the day was a little saddening/disappointing compared to childhood memories, we ultimately and on the whole ended up having a fantastic time, and we even managed to find time to eat fish, chips and mushy peas in a café by the seafront!

Thanks for reading!
