a whole bunch of stuffs
Current mood: Captain Caveman
Category: Captain Caveman Music

DAMMIT... we don't use this thing anywhere NEAR enough, do we?
'stuff' gets in the way of getting other stuff done. not enough hours in the day / days in the week / biscuits in the barrel.

still... could be worse.. .we could use it *too* much. we could bore you numb with every single bit of crap from our dull lives. then you'd hate us as much as we hate ourselves (check us out, 'emo'), and we can't have that now... can we?

ANYWAY... a few bits of news...

1) 'Normal Happiness' is the new album by Robert Pollard. It'll be out here in the UK / Europe on October 9th. Believe us (or not, the choice is yours. your loss, ultimately, if you dont' tho) its really really great. Really.

(y'know... we'd LOVE to be able to do the sort of spiel you get from other labels. we'd love to be able to make you believe that you won't be the hippest of the hip on yr block, or that these records are some likefuckingchanging icon of cool must-ownership... but your smarter than that, right? don't get me wrong... we love these records... they're great records. we want you to love them too, but we're not going to insult your intelligence. that's for other, lesser, record labels. If you want bullshit, go elsewhere... if you want some neato sounds to make your ears happy, then here we are).
Like i said, a great record. Buy it... if you wanna.

2) the very lovely and very excellent :( are hitting the road in October.
they'll be doing the rounds of the UK in support of the equally lovely and very excellent Enter Shikari. dates are up on the
:( page
www.myspace.com/colonopenbracket or on Enter Shikari's page at www.myspace.com/entershikari
tickets are on sale NOW (and selling rather quickly) from all those places you get tickets from.

2.1) to coincide with that tour, we'll be releasing the debut 'proper' :( record!!!
it will be a 5-track EP / mini-album entitled 'First Blood' and its really really good. honest. it'll be in stores 30th Oct. more news on that soon.

3) ALSO on 30th Oct, we'll be releasing a 7" single by our friends LR Rockets! They hail from London, and they're ace.
go say hello to them at
www.myspace.com/lrrockets
they've got a whole load of shows upcoming, so go say hello in person too!!

4) the shop!
ahhh... the Must Destroy shop.
a couple of folks have emailed us to tell us that the shop link on the site ain't working.
this is true, oh yes.
BUT... there'll be a NEW shop, in the very very near future.
AND... to celebrate its re-opening (and also to take the load off when we move our 'office'), we'll be having a big-ass sale!! yes indeed... prices slashed / axed / severed. bargains galore!!!
if, in the the meantime, there's something you simply MUST MUST own, and NOW... then drop us a line at
shop@mustdestroymusic.com and let us know... maybe you can haggle and we'll work something out? :)

OK... more soon.
one day, we WILL use this blog for something other than trying to sell you stuff. really.

take care out there... and, please, do keep in touch!!!

x

George Tabb
Category: Music

Back in the day when I could be bothered to read Maximum Rock'n'Roll, George Tabb's column was one of the few things that kept my buying it.
Funny, smart... you could tell from his writing that he's a good guy.

Anyway... now, George is sick. Really sick.

i'll let Monica at the Whirlwind Coalition (www.myspace.com/whirlwindcoalition) explain, cos she writes better than wot i do;

"I began Whirlwind Coalition a few weeks ago because there's so much to be done getting the message out about the 9-11 syndrome. A really good friend of mine, George Tabb, NYC writer and musician is very sick because of the cover-ups of The Environmental Protection Agency and The U.S. Government. The health of MANY people are at stake here in New York and those in positions of authority are refusing to take responsibility in providing financial assistance to any of them. George is just one of many who are getting sicker and sicker. Everybody was upset over 9-11! Shouldn't we also be ragingly upset about the unsung aftermath? This should be front page news! The mainstream media in the U.S. is not interested, or is too scared or too controlled to touch this. Connecting through the internet and getting information out there about this issue feels like the last resort at the moment. I'm not the only one on the web talking about this. Researched information from highly credible people is becoming more and more available as time goes on in this underground called cyberspace. The more people who talk about this above ground, and, who want to roll up their sleeves and do something about it the sooner we can fix things. I myself am here because I want to save my own friend's health from being swept under the rug. I can't even think of anything else right now. If a close friend of yours were in the same situation I'm sure you too would feel like moving heaven and earth for them. That's exactly what I'm doing"
- Monica Nelson, Whirlwind Coalition NYC, May 31st 2006

(EXCERPTS OF AN OPEN LETTER FROM GEORGE TABB) ;
I was living by the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 when those mass murderers attacked our country and killed a lot of my friends. To make things worse, they left a mess that OUR OWN GOVERNMENT denies exists. What kind of mess? The debris from two of the largest buildings in the world collapsing. While common sense would tell ANYONE that the air is dangerous, especially with the fires burning and all, our own government with THE EPA lied to our faces. They said it was safe, and we should continue to live near the smoking crematorium. AFTER getting sick and doing some of my own investigating, I found, what of course, were shocking results. The air WAS POISON and it WAS going to KILL PEOPLE. Hell, it was already making people with pre-existing conditions a lot worse. You know, like if you had asthma, it was harder to breathe. The same thing happened with my stomach. Did anyone believe me? Not really. So I took action. I went on TV, in magazines, and in newspapers, telling anyone I could that this was not a good situation. Mostly I was laughed at and called controversial. Then when our government started offering EVERYONE in New York City FREE air filters, I could see a pattern emerging. Fix this giant wound with a band-aid. Well, that wound has grown into a full blown infection that is now killing residents, workers, and rescuers alike. And that includes ME. Why do I hate this so much? Because Im the one who saw this coming a mile away. I said everywhere I could there was going to be fallout and cancer clusters. Most peoples answers were to snicker behind my back and call me Henny Penny. People like Fox News. Well folks, the sky did fall, and now I'm sick. A TON of money was raised for 911 victims. Where is that money? The hell if I know. I got some of it to help me move away after a year and a half of living hell. A little. A very little. And, everything I owned ended up in a landfill in Staten Island. Now its 2006, and I have found myself bankrupt and really sick (very 9-11 related). I have had over a foot of my large intestines removed, two more surgeries on that area, and now, a raging infection that seems to be very mysterious. My doctor tells me I need all these expensive tests to find out whats going on before I die, and when I turned to our own government, all I have faced is red-tape, and the sorry excuse that there just isnt funding available for this sort of thing. I KNEW THIS WAS COMING. I cant work because I cant stay healthy, or even get healthy, and the hell if Im going on public assistance. Because thats just what they want. Me to be another victim of this whole mess, and have to depend on them, when they lied in the first place - enough so that lots of us are sick. The clock is ticking away and if the doctors cant find whats wrong with me and treat it on time, well, just add my name to that list of those who perished on September 11th. This SUCKS. I've done benefits for others all of my life, and its come to this. Having to ask for money to SAVE MY OWN LIFE. You may think because I have 2 books out, and stuff like that, I've got funding. Truth is, fame and fortune do NOT go hand in hand. I'm broke, and dont know what to do except this. If I dont get some help, I wont be able to write anymore. And thats what I want to do. Write more books, live a normal life, and continue to speak out and help those around me. The United States Government acts like I dont exist. And thats a damn shame. Because I LOVE this country. And I'd die for this country. But I just don't want to go out like this. Not this way. It's just wrong. Thanks - George Tabb

so... there you go.
how's about you actually do something about it?

a little heads-up / some free music and video to download
Current mood: Nugent
Category: Nugent Music

hey folks.

so... Monday 10th April sees the release of;
:( [colonopenbracket] / dataPanik - split 7" picture disc
there's only 500 of the little beauties in existence, so if yr wanting one we seriously suggest you try order one from your fave indie record store (only stores in the UK will have them, sorry friends abroad) or direct from us at www.mustdestroymusic.com . our distributor informs me that a lot of stores are getting their orders cut down because there isn't enough to go 'round, so really we'd suggest hopping to it sooner rather than later.

on the subject of :( do the 'right click / save target as' on one of these and download yourself an exclusive *sort of* live video version of their track on the 7" 'Twin Chevron Action Flash'!!
THIS ONE for a lo-fi / lo-filesize version (3.5meg approx)
THIS ONE for a much larger file (14meg approx) hi-fi version
also, if you ain't already been there you can download yourself three unreleased :( tracks by going to their page at www.myspace.com/colonopenbracket

AND THAT'S NOT ALL...

get yourself over to DataPanik's page for some exclusive downloads there too!!! www.myspace.com/datapanik

AND...
our lovely Computerman chaps have put up a BRAND NEW demo track on their page. SO new, in fact, that its never even been played live before. its called 'Great Lakes', its great, and its available from... www.myspace.com/computerman

in other news...
errr...
there is no other news.
