Just a Reminder!
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Life

A favor to ask, it only takes a minute....
PLEASE....
Tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site
is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet
their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an
underprivileged woman.

It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on
"donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate
sponsors/advertisers use the number of
daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for
advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Why We're Raising Funds

ARISE High School is a small charter school in the Fruitvale area of Oakland, California. We are in the second year of our first five-year charter. Our mission is to serve children who will be the first to attend college. The Fruitvale is considered a high-need neighborhood; 75% of our students are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program, and the overwhelming majority speak a language other than English as their primary language (usually Spanish).

We need funds to equip our biology labs with glassware, visual aids, preserved specimens and other educational gear. In our first year we obtained electronic balances and basic dissection kits, but we have no other equipment yet. If we can raise enough money for it, we would also like to take our students on a canoe trip with SAVE THE BAY, which will educate them about the ecological interactions in San Francisco Bay and the environmental problems currently troubling the area.

ARISE is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for your generosity!

Let's Help This Class Meet Their Goal!

Hi, It’s been a while.
Current mood: excited
Category: Life

It has been a few months since I have posted.  Who knows if anyone actucally reads my blog.

I just had a great weekend helping teach a course here in Denver.  I am trained in Tom Myers' KMI Structural Integration school.  In December I was able to travel to MN to help one of the instructors teach an Anatomy Trains weekend course to massage therapists and bodyworkers.  It was such fun!  I had mentioned to the Instructor that it would be great to have the course come to Denver.  He said he would love that and someone was already starting to put one together.  He later emailed me her name.  I contacted her and we met.  Long story short... I am now working at her clinic and we had the Anatomy Trains weekend course here last weekend with a full class!!!

I am thrilled, everyone who attended presented such enthusiasm and we had a great time.  A lot of the therapists who attened are from the area and now I have a new network of therapists and friends!

WooHoo!

The Magic Happens!
Current mood: excited

Hello!  Hope the New Year finds you well!

My friends at The Magic Happens Magazine have published their newest issue http://themagichappens.com/home.html, one of the best parts of this issue is that they asked Me to contribute!  I am now a published article writer!  (I knew the Universe kept giving me nudges about writing).

This is my article...(the better version is in the magazine- so check it out!)

Theme for 2008

by Doni Lynn

When I was asked to write something for this issue about Themes, I said to myself, "OK – Let's see what happens!"  And, of course, magic happened!

A few hours later while I was getting ready for bed, the article began to write it's self and I had to start jotting down what came into my mind.  So here we go…

If you have seen the movie "The Christmas Story" you know all about 'Themes'!  Remember, the teacher makes the class write a (how ever many word) theme and the theme is what they want for Christmas?  Well, Ralphie thinks this is his salvation, and has visions of grandeur.

Well, this Theme works similarly, (but no paper writing involved).  You pick one thing that you want to focus on in the coming year.  But not something that makes you feel like you have to 'work', something that you can Allow to happen.  You write it somewhere and then leave it, forget it and let it Be.  Then in a Year you come back to where you wrote it down and see what happened during that year.  You will be amazed with it.  Of course you Have to Let It Go.  LOA at it's finest!

2007 was the first year that I heard about this and so, the first year having a Theme.  My Theme for 2007 was "I am Prosperous".  The ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />American Heritage College dictionary defines Prosper as "To be fortunate or successful, esp. in terms of one's finances; thrive."  And if you look up the root of prosper you get " from the Latin prosperus, favorable, prosperous (traditionally regarded as from pr--sp--r-- according to one's hope; pro-,according to)".

Well you can guess what I thought about all year!  I didn't 'get' the Prosperity I thought I would get (winning the lottery), but I was prosperous.  I always had my needs met, I never went hungry, I had money, I had a roof over my head, I had transportation, etc.  I had a year of changes and yet I came out on top and am experiencing some things that prove to me that I am on the right track.  I needed to close down my shop of 8 years, put all my belongings (ok, most) in a storage unit, leave the town I lived in for the last 8 years and move back home with my parents So I could land a teaching position at the Massage School  I graduated from, so I could be asked to help teach a class in MN with my Structural Integration school , so I could discover a new clinic to work at and not have to do all the paper work, so I could learn new avenues to explore spiritually, so I could make new friends all over the world, so I could be asked to write an article for the Magic Happens Magazine.

I AM Prosperous!!!!!!  It is part of who I Am now!  I am always taken care of, (even if it doesn't look like I thought it would).

While I write this article, it is becoming clear to me what my Theme for 2008 should be…Letting Go!  Just 'fugettaboutit'!    So you are the first to see it officially Doni Lynn's theme for 2008 – Letting Go!

There you have it, now let's see if I can forget about it!  ;)

Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus!
Current mood: energetic

..> ..>
..> ..>

..> ..>

I Believe, do you?

Eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of New York's Sun, and the quick response was printed as an unsigned editorial Sept. 21, 1897. The work of veteran newsman Francis Pharcellus Church has since become history's most reprinted newspaper editorial, appearing in part or whole in dozens of languages in books, movies, and other editorials, and on posters and stamps.

"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?

"VIRGINIA O'HANLON.
"115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
