Is it just me, or is somewhat ironic that Apple is the worst electronics company world when it comes to their efforts towards reducing their environmental footprint? ClimateCounts.org recommends against doing business with them until they clean up their act. Just something to consider next time you're shopping.

One saving grace for Apple is that much of the study was based on publicly available information. Apparently Apple doesn't say anything about what good they might be doing for the earth. Maybe they just do it all secret-like.

Current mood: lazy
Category: Travel and Places

By way of BoingBoing I found this blog about a hilarious dog rental store in Tokyo:

Puppy the World is a dog rental store. You can choose small, medium, or large breeds and rent them for $19/hr, or $100 a night. They have everything from chihuahuas to labs to border collies to papillons—and you get a 5% discount at the cafe if you rent one! You can’t lose. What’s Hot Now: Dog Rental by the Hour

Weirdos.

Dear, dear me...

What I like is the fact that there’s no proof any local kids are doing this stuff. All the hubbub is over a memo.

5:51 AM - 10 Things About Me (cuz Greg tagged me)
Current mood: vibrant
Category: Life

Intrepid world traveller/humanitarian/dharma bum Greg has tasked me with participating in one of those notorious chain blogs. So now I have to list 10 weird/random facts/ habits/goals about myself. Here goes...

1. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death. Life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves. (Could be 4 things but I'll keep this Bill Hicks paraphrase as 1 item.)

2. Shema yisrael adonai eloheinu adonai echad. (Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God. The Lord is One. It's the most important prayer in Judaism.)

3. In 3rd grade, on Valentine's Day, I got my right foot stuck in the escalator in what used to be Hess's department store in the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona PA. Miraculously it only resulted in a fractured pinky toe. The escalator had a hold of my boot, sock, and the bottom of my sweatpants, but somehow I slipped my foot out so the break occurred from me trying to free myself. I don't know how I escaped having my foot crushed and mangled.

4. I recently initiated the process of becoming a student in PJC's Electronics Engineering Technology program.

5. I started shaving my head because I needed a haircut really badly and didn't have any money so I busted out the clippers and went to town. I also thought it'd be hilarious. Much to my surprise I liked it so I kept doing it. I started shaving it a few months before I moved to Florida. I didn't start shaving it clean until about a month after I moved here.

6. Growing up I wanted to be a professional soccer player, animal photographer, and a ruthless land developer.

7. In 6th grade I read The Black Flag of Anarchy: Antistatism in the United States. Yes, 6th grade. That's when I started reading Tolkien, too. Weird.

8. I played Dungeons & Dragons in junior high and about halfway into high school.

9. I once maintained a vegan diet for 2 months and then ruined the streak with a bacon cheeseburger. I'm at peace with devouring animals now.

10. My first online experience was when my brother got his computer for college (must've been early to mid 1992) and it came with a free trial of CompuServe. We went straight to the chat rooms and started making all sorts of asinine comments that got us kicked out.

So there you have it. I'm not tagging anyone.
