Hello friends! Just a quick blog to tell you that new photos are up at my deviantart gallery LINK

This ones were made in the end of my vacations last March  :P

I'll be in vacations again in the middle of September. Hope to travel somewhere in Portugal and maybe I'll get a little early vacation in the previous week-end and go to Caos Emergente Fest to catch Desire and Primordial live, but that's not sure because I work in week-ends...

Current mood: restless

So finally I have some more cemetery photos uploaded at my gallery
This ones were made at Alto S. João, Lisbon. Alto is different from the other main Lisbon Cemetery, Prazeres. Prazeres has a more shadow feeling, maybe because of all the trees and it's more quiet than Alto. Anyway, I wouldn't mind to return to Alto but my main goal in cemetery photography will be to return to Prazeres. Oporto has also a very nice cemetery. Maybe someday...

Well, going direct to subject, I don't know when I'll post some more cemetery photos. Yes, I know, every city, every town has a cemetery, but the works of art are in those big and ancient capitol cemeteries.

Just to remember that the Photos from Lusitanian Darkness Fest IV, are up on my gallery.

I went there mainly to see Filii Nigrantium Infernalium, the first band from the afternoon, but they started playing as soon as the doors open and I was just finishing my beer outside ignoring that. When I got inside the venue, they were playing the third song from the set. I was really sad about that, but the other bands made up well. Tumulum are being a revelation for all, very good Black Metal and they played an Inquisition cover that fucked me up really well hehe. Decayed and Morte Incandescente were the other bands of the evening headlined by Watain. I just could see four musics because there was a break between the portuguese bands and the swedish one. It was supposed to be a dinner break, but one couldn't get out of the venue... Well, some went, just had to know the right persons... Whatever... So the break extended forever and I left the recint more or less when the gig should ended if it went by time schedule...

It was hard to believe that I was finally going to see Desire play live! Beeing one of my favourite bands ever, the fact that I couldn..t attend to a gig they gave early in the year and the cruel reality that those gigs are scarce, made me not think twice when the concert was announced. "I’m going to this one, even if I’m alone" But alone I wasn..t.
Middle of the afternoon, I met my friend Ana and concerned with the rainy weather we got on the way talking about car accidents among other subjects. Almost 300km separated us from Barreiro and I still had to make a quick stop in Setubal to pick up my good mate Pedro and to meet Barbara that nonetheless she is from near Lisbon, ignored the way to the events location.
Three hours later we arrived in Setubal just to find out that Pedro was late and Barbara had already smoked a pack of cigarettes due to much anxiousity.  Next stop, S.F.A.L., where the festival was going on. The previous day there were concerts of Black Metal bands, but it was impossible for me since I work saturday morning untill 13:00.
In the front door, next to an ambulance, there was the last person to join our merry band: Vanth. She had come from Lisbon by boat and didn’t got sea sick (or river sick), wich was nice because she bought teh first pack of cigarettes in years.  I was starting to think taht Desire will be considered a health problem n the future, but then realized that everyone was freezing except me. So we went for some beers/coffee/water and Ana was happy with her whisky cola in her bag. Inside the bar I had the first glimpse of the giant Castor, GOD’s vocals and the mysterious Tear, Desire’s frontman. Since no one was hungry except me and Vanth, we went outside for a bite and that made me loose the first musics from My Deception, but I still got the chance to take some photos and enjoy their Gothic Metal. In the end of the show I was looking for my partners, but first a stop at the bar to refuel and I could nod at Moonspell’s drummer, Mike, that was near by. I then realized that I was wearing a Moonspell long sleeve and a Desire t-shirt, my two musical passions, as wise Barbara pointed out. My partners were at the door smoking their lungs out, and before Gwydion made their way on stage, Pedro and I checked the merchandise stands. There were Desire girlie shirts, my dear Kali will be a little happy since she couldn’t make it to the show because of familiar affairs related to easter...
Gwydion blasted their set, the sound too loud but a magnificant exhibition. I would like to see them at Lagoa Burning Live, it would be a nice choice in a future edition.
Before GOD started their show, I’ve met some friends and talked about the new Tiamat album or even about my friends Deathland and their future album recording. I still had the pleasure to meet Nazgul, a friend from internet forums. A final sip of beer just before GOD went on stage and I admit I wasn’t expecting such a good show, but a few days later, Castor told me that the sound was very bad and it had been GOD’s worst gig yet... Well, bad was that I hadn’t tryed his hydromel yet...
Hoping that Vanth wouldn’t sell the shirts I bought, I headed front stage getting ready for Desire’s show. Introduction music bursting, my mind wandering like a caged beast, there was only I and that stage... First sound from a song of the first album and instant headbang. Yes, I do headbang with Desire... I forced myself to reality and started shooting with my camera. This was the first real test for my DSLR and Checksound, an online magazine, was counting with my photos. Quickly I made 60/70 shots. Visually, and with the exception of Tear, the vocals, Desire are not that much atractive, photogenicaly speaking, and I was lusting for my own full dileverance to this band, without thinking about f stops, shuter speeds, lights or expressions. No vampirism this time, no image vampirism... Never looking back, I was alone fighting my demons...
Two new songs were presented, the night ended with "Dark Angel Bird" because there was no time left to "Torn Apart", but that I was already...
And so it was time to return... Final farewells were made in the cold piercing wind and in clouds of smoke. It was time to take Vanth home in Lisbon, Pedro to Setubal and go to Portimão. One hour driving, forty minutes resting my eyes, another hour driving in empty roads with empty thoughts, poor Ana sleeping in the passenger’s seat, and I was flying free...like a dark angel bird...

Deathland's promo shots are up for you to see at my gallery and at the bands myspace ( www.myspace.com/deathlandband ) and site ( http://deathland.com.sapo.pt/ ).

Band is searching for a drummer. Next they will finally record their debut album and in July they will performe again at Lagoa Burning Live, portuguese biggest Metal Festival.

5:25 PM - The Moon lay hidden behind the fog

...that's what I said when I put my nose out around 1:30. "I chanted victory too soon" I sighed, because 3 hours before I realized that the sky would be clear and the clouds were scarce. But well, I was looking so forward to this for so long that I wouldn't quit, right? Full gear ready, including the tripod, leather coat (my eternal armour), gloves in the coat's pocket, scarf, and my Sepultura's wool hat in the head. Just before I left, I gazed to a bottle of sweet wine. "I'll not have time for that" I said to myself trying to avoid thinking that I only had 4 cigarettes left...

My first stop was a Natural Park near by. The fog made a quite grim scenario of the dark and silent park. The place had changed a lot since the last time I was there. A quick scout and I was back in my faithfull Peugeot. "Thank gawd I'm in vacations. It's so cold and I'm here with this first fail" I complained to myself... But nothing like take some test photos to get the idea of the speed I should use. Fog, fog and more fog. "I should go home for a cup of tea... Or that wine...".

A lungfull of smoke after and I decided to go to another spot. "If the eclipse ends as a total fail, at least I can make some slow speed shots of the cars passing by the bridge". Throwing the cigs butt to a puddle, I started the engine and disappeared in the fog...

I arrived to the spot, mounted the tripod, and smiled. The fog was going away. I started clicking like if there was no tomorrow, changing the speed, changing the f stop, trying to predict what the Moon would demand from me... Time flyed by, the cigarettes were not needed and totality arrived and with it the longest exposure shots and the dreadfull fog.Then things started to look out of focus, blured. I was manually focusing but I knew that it the focus was good...  Humidity... I had my tele lens covered with water... Cursing my lack of attention, I cleaned the lenses wandering how many photos I had wasted. My first photo with the cleaned lens is this one I selected to post it here. From 134 photos I made, I selected six. You can see them all in my gallery. Hope you liked the description

Those were made with my new digital SLR. I also made some photos with my film SLR but still have to develop and scan them, but I know that I have some good images captured in film :) The photograph starts in your head, never forget that :)
