Queen 222 Single Launch Review and Photos!!!
Current mood: sore
Halloween provided the perfect environment for the gig headlined by Queen of underground goth Mz Ann Thropik. Lawyers, Guns and Money provided the means to warm up the crowd withlead singer Ross Vegas having to push people to move closer to thestage. With that being said the room eventually warmed up to theirpresence and made the most of their time on stage. Next up wasLord, the power metal band previously known as Dungeon. Lord Tim'spresence to the stage was made known by a sea of long hair, denim vestsand horns that flooded to the stage upon first sighting. As playedthrough their set, Tim in his cookie monster t-shirt, a couple ofDungeon classics were belted out along with new and old Lord material.
As Lord ended and the stage was being prepared for the headline of theshow, Burlesque dancer Vesper White graced the floor with a Halloweeninspired dance including a visit from a Werewolf in shorts.
Then came time for the final act of the evening. The floor once againbecame a sea of inspired fans as Mz Ann Thropik took the stage. New song Queen 222 was received well by the crowd who took it in asanother classic Mz Ann tune. Same sound, same attitude, amazingpresence. After climbing amps and removing her shoes, the band emerged for a two song encore which brought the crowd to life once more. After the gig the band sold merch and signed copied of their new single Queen 222.
The night was alive with the spirit of Halloween and the Bald FacedStage certainly hosted an interesting combination of music fans, somemore into the spirit of things than others, but a sense of togethernessand all round fun was more or less the feel of the night.
Mz Ann Thropik will support The Birthday Massacre on the 21st November at the Manning Bar.

The Octopus shoot - facts and questions answered
Current mood: accomplished
Hello everyone! So there's been a lot of questions about the Octopus photoshoot I did with the amazing photographer Nic Bezzina recently :)
here are some repeated questions answered for you all :) xox Mzzy
1. Was the Octopus real?
Yes indeed it was very real and weighed 3.5 kgs!
2. Was it alive?
No it was not alive, Nic purchased it earlier that morning... Better than being eaten the Octopus had one last claim to fame before it was put to rest. I feel extremely grateful to it for allowing me to be photographed with it.
3. Was it cold?
Yes it was cold, wet and slimey! :)
4. Did it smell?
It smelt like the deepest parts of the ocean...
5. How could you?
Well, I closed my eyes and pretended I was an octopus myself.
6. Where did the idea come from?
Nic had the idea last year when we did our photoshoot together with the yellow tulip lights. It came to life from a combination of my love for the sea and its creatures and Nic's love for the unusual disturbingly beautiful.
7. Where can I see more of Nic Bezzina's work?

Yesterday I experienced one of the most beautiful things in my life...
I got to spend 7 hours with a 3.5 kg octopus... Although she was dead, she felt absolutely amazing... She whispered me secrets from the sea and the underworld as she placed herself on top of my head like a crown...
At the start she frightened me a bit, but once the day was through I didn't want to take her off my head... It was honestly sad knowing she would finally be put to rest...
night night sweet Octopus... and thank you for being a model with me xox Mzzy
We are going absolutely insane from making this record!!!
But the good news is it's all coming along nicely :) Tracks are coming to life, the album name has been chosen and we're about to shoot our first film clip next weekend!!!
Stay tuned...
In the meantime, witness the insanity for yourselves ;) xox Mzzy
A Mz AnnThropik story written by HER x
Current mood: awake
THIS STORY WAS WRITTEN BY HER FROM MELBOURNE X
Once upon an internet connection, there was a little rag doll. The little rag doll spent her days, and many a night, traveling through vast technicoloured spaces. Each of these spaces she drifted through were minefields of personalities, emotions, styles and genres. Exploding with life, love, torment and treasured things.
As she made her way slowly though the cyberatic mazes, she came across many unfamiliar sounds and words. Her curiosity taking over as she explored this crazy place. Then one day, after some directions given by a tall, dark stranger, with a rather confusing grin, the little rag doll clumsily stumbled across a mysterious rabbit hole. The strange entrance to somewhere was surrounded by the deepest red coloured roses she had ever seen. So crimson were these pretty things, she almost believed that someone had cut their fingers and painstakingly painted each individual petal with their own blood.
The closer she came to the rabbit hole, the more clearly she could hear the music that was coming from within this opening. So enchanting were the sounds filling the rag dolls mind, they struck a chord within her that was so familiar all she could do was stop and listen. The beating drums gave life to this sound, just as a heartbeat gives life to an unborn child. The guitar wailed along infused with the sobbing sound of keys. The bass, spasmodic yet solid, reminded her of the sound of kitten feet, only intensified. But the most striking sound entwined with what was spilling out from somewhere deep down the rabbit whole was the scream. So strong and gut wrenching, yet filled with sugar induced sweetness mixed together with a pure, raw emotion.
The little rag doll hovered by the opening of the rabbit hole for what seemed like such a long time, unable to break the spell cast over her by these sounds. Before she knew it, she lay on her back, eyes closed, letting the music draw pictures of smoke rings, tea cups and paper cut out hearts across her minds eye.
The little rag doll opened her eyes when she felt the feather soft touch of a beautiful moth tickling her nose. As her eyes focused she realized she wasn't alone. She sat up and turned around to see a woman emerging from the rabbit hole. Silky black hair with lips the same colour as the roses, as if she had kissed each one good morning. She adorned a small pretty crown upon her head. Her pale green smokey eyes sparkled with such a smile. "Well hello Kitten" she greeted the rag doll…
