Douglas Corner with Donnie Fritts and Special guests
Current mood: okay
Seems like another family reunion last night at Douglas Corner in Nashville. Another great pleasure in my life, Jammin with The Decoys and Donnie Fritts. We rocked the House with the help of some very special guests including Delbert McClinton, Billy Swan, Russell Smith, Spooner Oldham, Jonell Mosser, Gary Nicholson, Bonnie Bramlet, Bekka Bramlet, Thomas Caine, Kevin Mckendree, Colin Linden. The crowd was an all musical bunch like Johnny Sandlin, Brian Owings, Gary Talley, Max Russell, and many more.

Apparently I've been nominated in the category of best keyboard player. I'm humbled...never been a nominee before. If anyone would like to vote or just check it out here's the link. http://www.wlaythesound.com/ Just click on muscle shoals music awards, then click on vote. There's some mighty talented people on there, including my "Decoys" bubbas (Donnie Fritts, Kelvin Holly, Mike Dillon, David Hood and Scott Boyer). Cast your vote today....It's a great radio station. They play all Muscle Shoals music, past and present, and we're glad they are here.

Paul Thorn at PJs in Muscle Shoals
Current mood: impressed
It was a combination of things last night, a lot of friends that packed into PJs to catch a great set with my comrades Angela Hacker James Leblanc and a supercharged set with Gary Nichols, but it was a chance to receive Paul Thornes well said Sermon rendered by Paul himself, assisted by an extremely able band of monsters like Bill Hinds guitar and Micheal Graham keyboards. Songwriter/Producer Billy Maddox had the best live mix I'v ever heard. It was a treat! Made in heaven right here at PJs in Muscle Shoals Alabama.

Hank Williams Jr Show
Current mood: exhausted
What a pleasure to get to play with Hank Jr again, this time to a big crowd of rowdy friends at the "MountainFest" set in the beautiful Mountains of Merritt, British Columbia. He still can prove he was "Born to Boogie" This time he did a stirring version of "Bluesman" along with the rest of his hits. It was well worth the hectic flights from one end of Canada to the other. It made for a fun weekend/vacation, getting to hang with and play with a very able band of musicians led by the great Jimmy Hall, Mike Daly, Anthony Bowles, Michelle Poe (the Princess of the Bass), Ricky Chancey, and Brian Barnett

The Garage 14th anniversary party
Current mood: blessed
It's been a while since I'v truly been inspired enough to write my little journal/blog thingy . . But, tonight, in B'ham Alabam: The rain leaked throught the ceiling in a few places, but the Ducks were as home as it gets. Jimmy Watson needs to fix his leaks but all seriousness aside, we were surrounded by the best people anyone could ever want to play music for. A lot of them were musicians, but most of all, music lovers. I would like to play on a circuit of gigs like this for the rest of my life. I can't remember a better time playing with Scott Boyer Kelvin Holly David Hood and Mike Dillon, "The Decoys"

2008 George Lindsey UNA Film Festival
Current mood: stoked
I missed seeing Goober but there was a rockin good time had by all tonight at the classic Shoals Theater. I was so proud to be on stage with my long time compadres The Decoys Donnie Fritts and Russell Smith and also this actor producer director named Billy Bob Thornton. BBT was a pretty good drummer but Dillon smoked him. He did play a good role in the movie Slingblade ~ but seriously ~ the budgets on "Slingblade" and the video "Jump" by Van Halen are amazing by comparison. I'm blessed to be alive and be this music rich community called Muscle Shoals

AMHOF Induction Banquet 2008
Current mood: accomplished
Two weeks of intensive rehersals came together in Montgomery Friday the 22nd. It was an honor to play with this group of very able musicians led by Charles Rose. We backed up The Commodores, Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd, The Thrasher Brothers, Earnie Ashworth, and Taylor Hicks, to a sold out crowd at the Renaissance Montgomery Convention center. A good time had by all!!

FAME Records Presents at PJs
Current mood: accomplished
Another packed house at PJs in Muscle Shoals! Gary Nichols, Angela Hacker, James Leblanc, Zac Hacker, Jason Isbell, and the Ugli Stick, kicked-um where they sit, and took no prisoners. Rick Hall and the FAME team put together another good one! Management teams and other VIPs came from Nashville town to size up the FAME talent. I hope they were impressed, as I think we all did our jobs well. Another great night of good music and comraderie I am so lucky to have so many great musical friends young and old. I love them all.

Dennis Clifton Benefit - Great Night at PJs
Current mood: blessed
It's great to be alive and be able to play music, and to share the stage with some of the old, and new talent in this music rich community called Muscle Shoals. Dennis has been a staple in this game for a long time. He has a whole lot of comrades. This was a most incredible evening featuring Mac Mcanally, The Decoys, Jason Isabel, Gary Nichols, Billy Lawson, Chad Bradford, Johnny Holland, Zac Hacker, Angela Hacker, and so many good ol faces. Seems like everyone was ON! Wayne Chaney did an outstanding job on sound. Him and Dennis were in a seventies group called FCC, from the Shoals.
