pad diggin..

for most of the last year,  apart from the likkl stuff i recorded back in kenya, i haven't really laid down anything concrete, or written  anything  full.
when i left the states for kenya last may i was parched, as far as writing's concered.
so, i decided to lay the pen down for a while, and to submerge myself in life.

and submerge myself i did!

now, tho i wasn't writing proper at the time, i WAS scribbling like mad.. nothing structured, tho... more trying to catch bits an pieces as they flew by... or i'd grab the lifeline that is my pad n pen, when my submergence threatened to turn to drowning.

different time, different place.

now, i'm diggin thru my pads.

feelin back in the groove, and it's time to put those sketches right.

as those pieces emerge, it would be blessed if you'd pass thru and share with me.

which brings me up to my first up upload in a LOOOOOONG minute.

this is off S.U.N.'s latest album "The One". okay, i've been calling this joint "self definition" for the longest (i really need to find out what it ended up being called). went up to michigan for a writin session with Tony Ozier (working on stuff that ended up on his new album, Aural Penetration-u KNOW it's HOT)- anyway, was up in MI, sittin in tone's basement lab, had just penned the hook,
tha S.U.N. came thru with Joliba, and it was on.
got hassanah on the last verse, and that was that.
done, i thought.

that was til i got to kenya. tune wasn't broke or nothin, but...

'Bout That Mental Candy...

    i met Tony Ozier, like, one week after i came to the States in '01... you know how ish that's meant to happen, happens? that's how it was. we were in class together every day for like four months before we linked and cut 'Afrika' (some of you've heard that). started kicking it more regular, then, like maybe a month later, tone was in a session cutting '1 of A Kind' and i was sittin in. the girl who was suppose to drop the 2nd verse didn't come thru'. we only had 4 hours in this dope studio, so while tone was cutting the first verse, i took the standard issue leather studio couch and scripted the second verse.... he came out of the booth, i gave him that, he laid it, and it was a wrap (chek that - it's on the album). ;)
So, i've been involved with the Mental Candy album from the get go... because my babies are on there, and as a part of the BeatsGalore team.... so i really hope you feel what we've crafted for enjoyment.... aural, and mental.


    For 'A Taste of Mental Candy' what i've done is put together some of the niceness off of the Mental Candy album for y'all... y'know, jus a taste.  :D
If you're feeling that, DEFINITELY COP THAT (or holla at me if you're in tha O).

'Bout Comments...

i had shut out html comments. i'm changing this, coz i do like the tasteful flyers and stuff, that land there (brig, your flyers are on point). But, all that other stuff, the "This Is So Funny," the "See Who's Spying On Your Myspace," and other comments of that nature have a really short life expectancy on here. Artists, definately pass thru and tell the I  what's going on with you... Plug away!!! But, to paraphrase Spectone (big respect), when you come into a (wo)man's space to self-promote, show some love... makes sense to me. This is how Spectone put it; "CUT ME SUM COURTESY BY ACKNOWLEDGING ME. DONT JUST PROMOTE WHAT U SELLING OR SELF-PROMOTE ON MY PAGE AND THINK ITS ALL GOOD IF U AINT SHOWIN ME LOVE." Mr. Man keeps it REAL. you know i'll do the same and take a likkl time to big you up when i pass by your page.
