Death Sucks; We Still Win
Category: Life
A friend died yesterday. He was only 56.
Paul had 2 passions in life - Jesus, and sports.
I first met him when I joined my church in 1978. He was always after greater spiritual growth, always wanting to have people come into a revelation of who they are in Christ. Here on MySpace, and where ever he went.
Paul also enoyed the White Sox, the Bears and the Bulls. Anyone claiming to be a Cubs fan definitely needed divine intervention!:). Every Labor Day saw him in Canada for a wek or 2 of fishing.
Scripture tells us that the last enemy to be overcome is death. The true life - the spirit life - continues after the body is gone. I believe this.
It will be strange not seeing Paul sitting in his big white chair, even so. See you around, my brother.
Love & blessings
Richard

Tagged!
Current mood: amused
~Tagged
Here's how you play. Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 weird, random things, facts, or habits about yourself. At the end, you choose 10 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them to be tagged. Don't forget to leave them a comment "You're It!" and to read your blog. You can't tag the person who tagged you. Since you can't tag me back, let me know when you've posted your bulletin so I can see your answers.
1. At birth I weighed 2 lb. 10.5 oz.
2. I had 5 major surgeries by the time I started high school.
3. The first time Mom found out I like Chinese was a surprise. For years all I really liked was Oscar Mayer hotdogs.
4. I am the oldest of 10 kids.
5. During my first 10 years we moved 4 times.
6. I had 2 years of Spanish in high school. There was a foreign language requirement for graduation, and thought Spanish the easiest:). Still remember some of it..
7. In college, I performed in 2 musicals and 'Of Mice and Men.'
8. Our high school football coach talked me out of wearing a cheerleaders' uniform for a pep rally, and get an old football uniform instead..
9. I look good in pink.
10. At 47, I had cataract surgery on both eyes, coke bottle glasses gone forever. At 51, my vision actually improved in the weaker eye.

Say my name, say my name
Current mood: blissful
Category: Quiz/Survey
***What Richard Means***
You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.
You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind. A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.
You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out. Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia. Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality.
You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row. You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace. People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

The best Christmas song ever
Current mood: blessed
Category: Religion and Philosophy
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining; It is the night of the dear Savior's birth! Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born! O night, O holy night, O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, Here came the wise men from Orient land. The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger, In all our trials born to be our Friend! He knows our need—to our weakness is no stranger. Behold your King; before Him lowly bend! Behold your King; before Him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His Gospel is peace. Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother And in His Name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Let all within us praise His holy Name! Christ is the Lord! O praise His name forever! His pow'r and glory evermore proclaim! His pow'r and glory evermore proclaim!

Squeak in the Summerlands (for Louise)
Current mood: blessed
Category: Writing and Poetry
'Nico,' Squeak squeals. 'Are you here, bro? I've come Louise is heartbroken, as you must know The family grieves and Bubble is numb' 'Yes,' a voice answers. 'They'll go on e'en so.
A-turning, the rat soon espied his kin Whiskers twitching, claws scuffing, the two met Excited, niether new where to begin So chose to perform a rat pirouette
'Look 'round. my dear brother! Not one cat near Nor are there any traps to engender Feelings of wan trepidation and fear While to sensuous joy we surrender.'
Scurrying onward the brothers with ease Knew to get started they'd first cut the cheese

I know a girl, creative writer she Spinning tales full of awe and wonderment Prolific scribe is what she hopes to be With any style she proves herself content
Unafraid Brittany goes forth in hope Wild imaginings loosed within her soul Bearing forth ideas of boundless scope Has ever been the writer's one true goal
With all dilligence the craft perfected That her labors bring Brittany some gain Once complete she knows efforts directed Shall prove themselves worth any writer's pain
Which explains the purpose of her sonnet To know a thing you must practice on it.

Scrying Stone
Current mood: peaceful
Category: Writing and Poetry
My brave Trevor rode off today
In service to the King
So that I may remember him
He left me this gold ring
If I would look upon his face
All I need do is sing
To my scrying stone
There sits my Trevor even now
So much alone. Does he
Know that I truly miss him and
Pray that he longs for me?
But there now appears another-
Oh my heart! Who is she
In my scrying stone?
My Trevor bids the maid god morn
As she begins to race
Into strong arms that once held me
The glow upon his face
Tells me I have lost my Trevor
Ever shall my tears find place
On this scrying stone

The Quest
Current mood: satisfied
Category: Writing and Poetry
Trevor's home village was everything this place was not - comfortable, warm, familiar. Standing at the mouth of the cavern, the lad wished he were back there now. Home lay five days journey behind them.
'Come on, boy! We are here because of you after all.' The deep voice of Dolby, the Troll guide, reverberated off the grey granite walls. He had entered the cave five minutes earlier.
Molthar the Wizard, final member of the company, spoke.
'Lad, we must go inside. It is here the oracle said we would find undeniable proof that you are the king's heir. Banish your fear! The safety of the realm and its people must be your first concern.'
The mage took Trevor's elbow and gently led the boy forward. Around them the world was still. The setting sun gave way to a velvet night. Thunder sounded in the distant eastern sky.
'All right, I'll go,' Trevor said. 'But I can't shake this feeling that the quest will come to an end once we are inside.'
'Of course it will!' the Troll replied. Impatient, he had returned to the entrance. 'For tonight, at any rate.'
Thunder rumbled as the companions stepped into the cave. Trevor shuddered, ignorant of what awaited him, certain it would mean his demise.
'Just in time to meet your end, Gentlemen. Shall we depart?'
Wizard, Troll and would-be king looked up into the flashing eyes of the Warlord. They rose slowly, reluctant to leave, yet knowing they must.
Well, the game would continue next week.
