TOP TEN REASONS TO ATTEND ATLANTA PHI MU FOUNDERS DAY 2008
Current mood: bouncy
Category: School, College, Greek

10)  Andrea Griffith, creator of Georgia Life & Style will be the keynote speaker!  Learn what Phi Mu has done to ready her for life as a television journalist!  Check our her MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/andreagriffith

9)      Metro  Atlanta is home to our National Headquarters, so keep your eyes peeled for our hardworking national staff.

8)      SHOPPING!!!  The Carnation Collection will be available.  If there is a particular item you would like to be available, please contact us at atlanta@phimu.org.

7)      The Houston Mill House is part of the Emory Conference Center property.  It's only a few miles off of I-85. Either print the directions from the link on the Founders Day 2008 website, or use your favorite online map website to generate your own directions.  The committee made it a point to find a beautiful location that is reasonably central in Metro Atlanta and the traffic is minor compared to Midtown.

6)      The latest news on all Phi Mu activities in Atlanta in one place.  Curious about the evolution of our alumnae chapters?  Which collegiate chapters are in town and the metro area?  How is Phi Mu involved in Panhellenic?  What have our chapters achieved for CMN, Foundation, and our communities?  Are there any Heart-to-Heart relationships locally?  How much time do members spend on alumnae activities?  The answers to all these questions and more are in one convenient location!

5)      You do not need a date!  We're all sisters here.  If you don't know anyone when you arrive, never fear!  You will have plenty of new acquaintances by the time you leave!  All Phi Mu sisters are welcome wherever they are from, whatever chapter they pledged.  What matters is, we're all Georgia sisters now!

4)      You do not need to be a chapter member to attend.  Most of our area sisters are not affiliated with a local alumnae chapter.  Good news – for this celebration it's not a requirement.  Founders' Day is to take a moment and revel in our bond.  Again, all sisters are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to remember our sisterhood.

3)      There are no further obligations.  As it says above, most of our area sisters are not affiliated with a chapter.  If you would like to join a chapter and enjoy the benefits of membership you will have plenty of opportunities to do so.  But if after attending you're not sure if one of the current chapters is right for you, you won't be shanghaied.  No one will be forced to get involved if they don't wish to be.

2)      Jump start your social life!  So many of us are new to Metro Atlanta.  So many others have been "out of the loop" for a while for a variety of reasons.  What better way to (re)build your network of friends than within the bond of Phi Mu sisters!

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON TO ATTEND THE METRO ATLANTA PHI MU FOUNDERS DAY 2008 IS….

1)      PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING!
The Founders' Day website has been visited from dozens of companies including Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Delta Air Lines (plus several other airlines) numerous law firms, engineering companies, federal agencies (including the CDC), colleges and universities, medical firms, local school districts, aviation firms, management firms, media outlets (including CNN), information technology groups, and a host of small businesses.  If that's an indication of who is attending, then it will be a prime place for women to make professional contacts.  Wherever you are in whatever career you've chosen, it's especially important for women to keep the network fresh.  Now let's put that sisterhood to work!

Now why would a Phi Mu not want to attend?  Time is growing short – make your reservation today!  Visit www.northfultonphimu.com/foundersday.html to either register online or print and mail-in a reservation.

The AGLAIA is finally online!
Current mood: impressed

http://www.phimuaglaia.com/

IMHO, this is the best fraternity online magazine I have ever seen.  They didn't just scan in a hard copy into a PDF that you have to download.  Every article is in a database with very easy-to-use navigation, RSS feeds, the ability to leave instant comments and even submit news.  You can check out more individual information like births, reunions, career moves, etc.

Most of all, you don't have to wait for the USPS to drag their butt over to your mailbox for the latest.

As a web geek myself, I'm impressed, and I don't impress easily!  I'm taking a few lessons from this and hoping everyone else enjoys it too!

Kickoff Recap
Current mood: chipper

This afternoon, 20 Phi Mu alumnae from around the North Fulton area gathered at Karen Bevan's home for a refreshing and rejuvinating "high tea".  Our new president, Karen Barnes was installed and all enjoyed visiting and re-establishing their interest in Phi Mu.

The exec board couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.  Karen (both of them) is an outstanding hostess from beginning to end.  There was such a commotion around the house that random people walked in off the street to see what was going on!  (No exaggeration!)  To those who weren't able to attend, we are very sorry to have missed you.  But there are more gatherings like this one on the horizon so we hope you'll join in soon!

Watch our website for pictures at www.northfultonphimu.com.
