Dances of Vice has to be my favorite party in all of NYC, aside from our own OPIUM party that is : )~ Now what they've got cooking up right here is a 3-DAY FESTIVAL featuring live music, dancers, artists, fashion designers, and all around amazing talent. I'll be there Saturday as the Sacred Heart for the KATHLEEN MARIE COUTURE show. I can't even express how amazing her work is....and my outfit is simply breathtaking...eeeeekkkkk! : ) The event is at THE MONTAUK CLUB at 9pm. The afterparty for Saturday is at SALVATION (don hill's).
Sunday is at REBEL! I am doing runway for La Metamoprphose and then I plan on dancing the night away to Voltaire's ensemble. Whhheeeeeeee!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! So Yasmine, Sira, and I just got our pictures back from the Pixie Vision shoot we did last month in Central Park. The location could not have been more beautiful; lush gardens, exotic foliage, and arched treetops hovering over old city brick. There was even a massive wrought iron scrolled trellis covered in vine and willow. Gush! Pixie shot all three of us midday and worked through her massive fever and sore throat : ( Talk about dedication here folks! We individually sought out our own magical spots that we connected with and jumped in to em. Thomas was the official assistant...much love to him for helpin us maniacs! I hope you guys enjoy the pix as much we do! Hit up Miss Pixie Vision on myspace and spread some love there if your feeling it! Ohhh FYI.... So it seems like my dear friend Rob of God's Own Medicine has shared a brain with me and we've both done versions of the same song....his with music, mine with dance. I did this next clip because I was so moved by the amazing grace and power of the Queen of Sparta, Gorgo, from the movie 300. The song Rob and I do is taken from a scene when she finds out her husband, the great King Leonidas has been killed. I chose this song because I was going through something similar, no one died in the flesh but in Spirit someone I loved once died to me. This clip is a mourning followed by a healing and cleansing through dance. Its amazing what dance can do for you, its like an exorcism sometimes I swear. I remember what someone once said to me... "Its always Darkest before the Dawn"
I now transform the Darkness and weave it into a magical symphony, light from one thousand stars.

So I just wanted to post this up here to promote my new friend and most beloved Photographer PIXIE. We did this shoot on my birthday in April while she was in town and I have to say that she was the most amazing spirit to work with. I have done professional shoots before but I always knew the photographer beforehand, thus Pixie had come to me high recommendation of sister Bellydancers Mariyah and Mimi Fontana. I was really impressed by her site (www.pixievisionproductions) and booked it. I was nervous as hell for some reason, maybe its because it was my 33rd birthday and I was a little insecure or maybe it was meeting Pixie for the first time (maybe both!) but in a matter of minutes we found our space within each other's energy and rocked the hell out. We threw on some Love and Rockets got loose and just zoned. It RAQ'd! So here is my HUGE OLE THANK YOU and proud promotion of Pixie. Do yourselves a favor, next time she's in town BOOK A SHOOT! Its worth it, believe me!

I just wanted to update you on my Gothic Bellydance classes in Manhattan. As some of you may know, I have have been searching for a great studio space for us to work in for months, one with great energy and a great location as well. Its been daunting and frustrating but low and behold... It looks like I’ve found one!!!!! Yeeehaaaaa!!!

It looks like Sundays at 3:00 pm are a go-go. .. The space is literally 5 blocks from the LIRR and all major subways, close to F.I.T.
We will hopefully begin MAY 4th!!! More info to follow, I will be making a stack of flyers as well.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... While wasting time on YOUTUBE tonight I found a clip that seemed to capture the sentiment of a picture of me that I posted up here this afternoon. I called the picture "Feels like Flying". It was taken on New years Eve when I was in a period of mourning. The shot was me, flying, a million miles away from where I was in that moment.
In that moment, I was among the stars...
Its funny, getting lost in a song; it takes you back to a place and a time, it washes over your very soul if you welcome it.

Hello Gang! Its only been 4 months since I last taught a class but seriously, I am going through teaching withdrawl!!! Usually I teach American Cabaret Bellydance with a Fusion twist but I have been getting soooo many emails lately asking for GOTHIC BELLYDANCE classes... Im thinking its time to bridge the two and unify them into a GOTHIC FUSION CLASS!!! Sooo.... as I shop around for studios in Manhattan, I would just like to get some feedback about what days/ evenings would work best for those who are interested. Im leaning towards a Sunday afternoon to be honest with you and perhaps a Thursday evening. Hope to hear from you soon! xoxoxox JeniViva
