I recorded a new mix yesterday of more dancefloor friendly records that I’ve bough recently, and some classics thrown in between. Starts out more techno and than at the end moves into more housy stuff. Tracklist includes: Carl Craig, Equalized, Surgeon, Sleeparchive, Moritz von Oswald, Theo Parrish, KDJ, Sleeparchive, Kassem Moses, Soundhack, Andy Stott, Emptyset...
Octex goes audio/visual
Current mood: excited
Category: Music
As some of you might know, I've been working on this for quite some time (as part of my university diploma), but my system for automatic visuals for live performances is now finally ready for prime time and I am now available for booking as audio/visual live performance. More info here >>
I'll be staying in Berlin for entire december 1.12.07 - 1.1.08 (I get to stay in a flat of Slovenian ministry of culture :). Would love to play somewhere while I'm there, so if anyone is interested in booking me, or just getting together for a drink... send me a message.
I'm happy to announce, that I've just finished 3 tracks for EP to be released on Temponautika records, in the near future. Due to lack of time it took me 6 months to do this, but I'm now happy with the result.
This is my (by some long awaited) return to vinyl format and also on 2 tracks straight 4/4 beats. Preview of the (not yet mastered) material, can be heard on my myspace, and soon on my webpage.
Kratki film o dolgem filmu (Short film about long film)
Current mood: busy

A short documentary movie made by some friends of mine, that uses my music as a soundtrack, is now available on Goole Videos for everyone to enjoy (w/ english subtitles).
At the closing day of the 3rd edition of Cinema Isola film festival there was a showing of Jeremiah. Jeremiah is almost a 9 hour movie. That had to be the longest film ever screened in Slovenian cinemas.
The majority of Jeremiah's proponents claimed that the length of the movie is not important and that there is way too much attention paid to the length itself. By doing this supposedly the entire point of the movie is missed. But when interviewing the viewers themselves, almost always the length itself was discussed.
The art process itself usually can not be explained, so the question why artists make such long films is not that interesting. Far more interesting is the question what kind of viewers watch such films of extreme length and what do they expect from such experience. Short film about long film tackles this very subject.
Zagreb gig... or when power adapters fail
Category: Music
I've played in Zagreb on Thursday, which I was really looking forward to, since I've never play there before although it's only 2h drive from Ljubljana...
Unfortunately my gig turned out to be the most frustrating live set I've ever played, due to the fact that the power adapter for my sound card decided to die between sound check and the time I was suppose to play. Since there was no way to replace or fix it in time I was left with no alternative but to play with the laptops built in sound card. That meant I was only left with 2 channels of mediocre quality, high latency and unable to properly use any of my other hardware, so the tracks that sounded nice on the sound check turned out as a rather muddy mess. I also got a vibe from the audiance that they were expecting much more straigh dancy music...
But after the gig I've spent a really great couple of days with Marko Furstenberk, Ganik, Milos Pavlovic... which put me in a good mood again.
I've been asked by Filter27 web page to do a mix for their podcast. So one day at midnight , when I've finally found some free time, I've hooked up Ableton to couple of midi controllers and analog fx and started recording. What came out is 140min long mix of mostly dubbed out electronic music.
