Damian and Bonerama will be on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight, Monday, February 11th. They´ll do a song from You're Not Alone, their brand new EP. The one you should buy because all of the proceeds go to help New Orleans musicians. And because it's good. Get it at iTunes. --------------------- posted by milosh
You really don't need to hear this from Camp OK Go, but here it is anyway. Vote! Vote in your primaries. They´re probably today if they haven't already happened. Do not wait. Our electoral system isn't changing anytime soon, and until it does, we've got to deal with what we have: a bunch of politicians who often forget the interests of the world's loveliest people: blog-reading rock fans. And we're sick of you disenfranchising yourselves by going in to work or school or Scrabulous comas instead of voting booths and caucus cabinets. Don't let bad people pick our leaders. They'll just pick bad ones. Have your say. ------- posted by jorge
OK Go spent the 2nd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans recording an insanely swaggering benefit EP with trombone soul monsters Bonerama. It's called You´re Not Alone and it hit iTunes worldwide today. (drop them an email if it's not in your country's store.) Awesomely, iTunes agreed to donate their share of the sales, so every last penny of the proceeds will go towards helping rebuild the New Orleans music community, which was devastated by Katrina. Money goes to Sweet Home New Orleans and to building a new house for New Orleans legend Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, who lost everything in the storm and post-storm floods, and who sings on the EP's final track.
The music is actually worth your money (not just according to us), all of which will go to talented people in very real need. Do us, them, and yourselves a favor: Buy a copy right now.
To support the release, the boys played two sold-out release shows with Bonerama, one at the legendary New Orleans club Tipitina's, and another at the 9:30 club in DC. the DC show brought out both politicos and musicians: Russ Feingold and Fugazi's Brendan Canty were both there, along with Bill Clinton's Press Secratary Joe Lockhart, who personally raised money from friends he brought to the show. He raised a ton. You only have to raise $3.49. ------- posted by jorge
Feb 5th is Super Tuesday, when a bunch of states hold primaries. Feb 4th is Super Monday, when OK Go plays a show to celebrate voting at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. It's being billed as a Voter Awareness Show for Barack Obama, but fans of the rock who aren't fans of Barack should still go. It'll be awesome. Other performers include Nina Person (from the Cardigans) and Craig Wedren and Nathan Larson from Shudder To Think, one of Damian's all-time favorite bands. The boys of Stella host, and word is that a lot of famous people might talk. Get your tickets. They´re going very fast.
Also, in case this isn't obvious: We think you ought to vote in your primaries. You have our permission to skip school, work, and delay drinking practice to go and pick your leaders. Just remember you probably need to register first. It's real easy. Register now. ------- posted by jorge
An Exclusive VIP Deal has been set for the Feb 2nd OK Go/Bonerama show in DC. Sixty bucks gets you two drink tickets, a post-show meet 'n' greet with the boys, plus entry to the VIP Viewing Area with its celestial snack spread. Before you freak out, please understand it's a benefit show and the boys have no interest in maintaining a tiered service that reserves the best rock for the richest people, except when all the money goes to New Orleans musicians who really, really need it. If you've bought tickets already, we're told you can upgrade. Buy Tickets.
Live Webcast Tonight at Tipitina’s - OK Go and Bonerama!
Tonight´s super-awesome benefit show, featuring OK Go and Bonerama as you´ve never heard either of them before, will be webcast live from the Tipitina´s website. That's tonight, as in January 11th, starting at 10pm CT.
As you're hopefully aware, all proceeds to the show will benefit New Orleans music legend Al "Carnival Time" Johnson (who gave Mardi Gras its unofficial anthem and lost everything when Katrina & the faulty levees destroyed his house), and Sweet Home New Orleans - a coalition of non-profit organizations that helps find affordable housing and provides rental assistance for the city's cultural ambassadors. They'll be playing full sets, including a joint set of songs recorded for You're Not Alone, the itunes EP which comes out on Mardi Gras.
If you watch the webcast, which you should, do us a favor and buy the ep. And also, kick a few bucks to Sweet Home. They could use it. SweetHomeneworleans.org
The webcast begins tonight at 10:00pm CT. Watch it here: http://www.tipitinas.com/media1/ut300.asx

May rock be your guide, with scissors your fallback,
New EP Feb 2! Special shows in New Orleans 1/11 & DC 2/2
You should read Damian´s post below. But until you do, here´s a shorter version with similar info and less charm...
You´re Not Alone
OK Go spent the 2nd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans recording with the trombone soul monsters Bonerama, and soon the world will hear the insanely swaggering result: A benefit EP called You´re Not Alone that comes out Fat Tuesday of Mardi Gras with this tracklist:
Rock 'N' Roll Suicide (the Bowie tune) A Million Ways Oh Lately It's So Quiet It's a Disaster I Shall Be Released (the Dylan Tune, with "Carnival Time" Johnson on vocals)
The EP will be available only on iTunes, and 100%--every last penny-- of the proceeds will go toward rebuilding the New Orleans music community, which was devastated by Katrina. Awesomely, iTunes agreed to donate their share as did IODA, who helped us digitize and promote it. Money goes to Sweet Home New Orleans, an incredible organization, and also to build a new home for New Orleans R&B legend and amazing person Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, who lost everything in the storm and post-storm floods.
The band believes so strongly in this cause that they donated weeks of time and effort and resources that would otherwise have gone to making a new album or teaching Tim to talk to girls. Why bring this up? To convince you to buy the thing. It´s worth your money, all of which will go to helping out talented people in very real need. Do us, them and yourselves a favor and buy a copy.
SHOWS IN NOLA AND DC
OK Go & Bonerama are playing two benefit shows to celebrate the release. Buy a ticket to either and you´ll get a free download of You're Not Alone as a gift from OK Go. The first show is this Friday. Get on it! Buy plane tickets! Help build a house while you´re there!
Again, every cent raised goes straight to the cause. If you can't make a show, you can still prove your awesomeness by donating to Sweet Home New Orleans right now.
A Note From Damian about New Orleans, New Shows, New Music
Hi Everybody.
It's me, Damian. Our fearless cyber-chief Jorge has gone missing. Apparently to Antarctica. Seriously. He said something like "if there's one chance in my life, it's now." It's a winning life-method for everyone, really, so when I get done writing this and then when you get done reading it, let's all meet up in Antarctica, and together we can kick Jorge's sorry ass for not writing this like he promised he would before he left.
THERE'S BIG NEWS. Shows in New Orleans and Washington, DC very soon. New iTunes EP You're Not Alone coming even sooner. Like right now, almost. (February 5) New Record Coming soon.
NEW EP YOU'RE NOT ALONE ON ITUNES FEBRUARY 5.
We spent the 2nd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans recording 5 songs with the trombone soul monsters Bonerama . They are the loudest, most brass-kicking brass-kickers you've ever heard, and I got to sing songs with them. It was ExtraGreat--, and now the world can hear what OK Go would sound like if we were the trombone soul orchestra we've always dreamt of being. It comes out on Fat Tuesday of Mardi Gras and the tracklist goes like this:
1) Rock 'N' Roll Suicide (the Bowie tune) 2) A Million Ways 3) Oh Lately It's So Quiet 4) It's a Disaster 5) I Shall Be Released (the Dylan Tune, with Al "Carnival Time" Johnson on vocals)
The EP will be available only on iTunes, and 100% — every last penny — of proceeds will go toward rebuilding the music community in New Orleans, which has been devastated by Katrina. iTunes even agreed to donate their share. Funds will be split between Sweet Home New Orleans and the fund for building Al "Carnival Time'" Johnson's home in the new habitat for Humanity Musicians' Village . I could go on forever about the recording and the cause, and how excited I am and how important it is, but there's not enough room here. The point is this: you need to buy these five lil' songs to help out the world a little. OK? Stop me me at a show and I'll go on and on about why.
SHOWS IN NOLA AND DC. To celebrate the upcoming EP release, we're playing two shows with Bonerama . And check this out: if you buy a ticket to either show, you get a free download of You're Not Alone, the day it comes out! It's the greatest thing since whatever I called ExtraGreat-- in the last paragraph! The first show is this Friday. Get on it! Get tickets now. Buy plane tickets and come to New Orleans for the weekend! It's the greatest place in America!
Jan 11 - New Orleans, LA - Tipitina's http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&pl=&eventId=234096
Feb 2 - Washington, DC - 9:30 Club http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?orgid=3595&pid=6150470
Again, every cent raised by these shows will be donated to the cause. If you can't make it to either one, but you still want to prove how awesome you are, you should just donate to Sweet Home New Orleans right now. A special thanks to Music Travel Management , Horizon Entertainment Cargo , Sennheiser USA , and Gibson for making these shows possible.
NEW RECORD COMING SOON.
This is kind of a lie. We're writing it right now, and it will be the best record we've ever made — I promise — but we haven't started recording yet, so everybody just cool out and be patient.
OK, that's it for today, but stay tuned for more great things next week, like how it's time to vote soon, how we're about to play a yay-voting show in NYC with my idols, and how we're going to South Africa in February.
Thanks. You're ExtraGreat--. See you in Antarctica.
Fuse has dedicated an episode of Videos That Rocked The World to OK Go's very own Here It Goes Again, a video you may have seen once or twice. The episode debuts Thursday, November 29th at 10 PM EST and repeats at 1 PM EST the next day.
Here's something to tackle while you wait: Fuse has set up a wiki page for each video, which lets you log in and add your own comments, info, photos, videos, etc. Right now it's pretty bare. I say we attack.
Bonus: Here's a video that rocked our brains: OK Go on The Simpsons
And here's one that will rock yours: OK Go at KOKO in London ------- posted by jorge
We’re Getting A Shout-Out On The Simpsons Tonight!
I've been looking everywhere for a clip of the TV promo, but can't seem to find it. So this image of Marge in gym clothes will have to do. I'm sure the OK Go shoutout is only a 2-second passing shot, but pretty exciting nonetheless.
