Pauvre France!

Qui ne voit pas qu'ailleurs il y a une vie, peut-etre pas meilleure mais aussi riche, une culture, un patrimoine aussi riche...
A force de s'auto-satisfaire, on devient aveugle et l'on se perd.
Dernièrement, Elliott Murphy et moi-même avons participé à une sorte d'atelier d'écriture à Bruxelles, et quelle ne fut pas notre surprise en entendant les "songwriters" en herbe qui participaient à ce moment.. ( trois d'entre eux sont maintenant dans mon top-friend)... Des voix, des chansons, des personnalités...
Pourquoi nous qui avons des nouvelles stars, et des academiciens stars, n'avons nous pas ces qualités???
C'est un problème de culture.A force de penser que notre culture est la meilleure, on ne regarde pas ailleurs, on n'évolue pas, on n'apprend pas et l'on meurt doucement de notre autosatisfaction...
Apprendre c'est la plus belle chose qui soit. Lorsqu'on se ferme au Monde, on n'a plus d'objectivité... On apprend de la différence, on grandit...
Voilà ma petite vision des choses, je dois moi-aussi apprendre, et j'espère en etre toujours capable..Ces gosses des Flandres m'ont donné une bonne claque, merci à eux... Merci de me permettre de garder les pieds sur terre...Merci à tout ceux qui comme eux, me font avancer...

Nouvel Album Notes From the Underground

Notes from the underground est le nouvel album d' Elliott Murphy.

J'ai co-écrit 5 chansons , joué plus de guitare electrique qu'à la coutumée ( pas mal de slide) et fait les choeurs. 

Nous jouerons pas mal de ces nouvelles chansons au New Morning le 22 mars!

retour d’ Espagne

Quand on rentre d'une tournée en Espagne, on trouve que notre cher (dans tous les sens du terme) pays est bien triste. Ce n'est pas une question d'ensoleillement, non, ça avec les changements climatiques on l'aura bientôt, c'est la façon de vivre. Ces gens VIVENT  et ont soif de vie!

En Espagne,  on trouve un public heureux d'être à un concert, des journalistes qui se bougent, des organisateurs et programmateurs ravis et prêts à vous refaire jouer dans la foulée! Pas besoin de grosse promo, d'attachés de presse, l'info circulent et les salles se remplissent.  

L'exception française, c'est qu'on a tout pour etre heureux (salles, subventions etc...) mais qu'on en profite pas car il est toujours question de concept, de politique culturelle, d'éducation des publics... Et la vie dans tout ça???

Last Gigs and friends...

Hi,

It's been a long time since I wrote something here...

I was pretty busy, well I'm still , but those last days I had some real great musical and human moments!

First we did this great show at Le Chant Du Gros festival in Switzerland with the Great Beverly Jo Scott, it was a thrill! Then, we did the Festival de Guitare de Morcenx with those talented french artists Jipé Nataf and Jil Caplan plus Denis Barthe from Noir Désir!That was so nice that we hope we'll do that again and again....

Music makes you meet great people (artists and fans) and make you discover some real good human being and friends!

Thanks to BJ, Jipé, Jil (Valentine) and Denis! Thanks to Elliott to let me share those nice moments...

Talking about Elliott and friends, I just recorded a little acoustic guitar solo for Jérome Soligny's original version of Etienne Daho's "Duel au Soleil" :"Centerfold Romance", you should check his myspace!Go on my top friends and click on his picture then you'll discover the man who put me in touch with Elliott Murphy!

Some of "myspace" friends might seem strange to you, but there are people who meant something at some point of my musical life so here they are!

More work and gigs to come with Elliott Murphy and the Normandy all stars, and soon we'll have our friend Kenny Margolis on the road with us!

Little Johnny Jet

I just added for a couple of hours this song I recorded for a Tribute to Dominique Laboubée (from the Dogs, french band).

I did that in the fall 2005, with my friend Jérôme Soligny ( at his place), and I'm happy of what we did!

It will be released in the fall!

Recording

Last night, I recorded a song for a compilation called "Polaroids Rock".
The main idea of this project is to put music on lyrics written by a polar writer.
My song was about Tookie, and I have the chance to have my friend Florent Barbier (www.studiofranklin.com) helping me, and I think we did something pretty interesting mixing acoustic & electric guitars with some machines.
I let you know when it will be released!
