PEI etc.
Hello there.
We played a show. Believe it or not. First time ever in Prince Edward Island. It was raining. Didn't matter. We had a blast. Forgot how good it feels to play our music for people.
In other news, we are still working hard on the record. We have about 16 or 17 songs now, and about to do another writing/recording session at the end of the month. Many songs are finished, we're just writing more now 'cause we're having a good time doing it, and we've been recording things pretty fast, so we figure why not just keep going until we feel that we're out of juice.
Hope that you all will hear it sooner rather than later.
Talk of album title and artwork is bubbling as well. Exciting stuff.
Doing the show last weekend really got me longing to be out there playing OLP music every night. I had to keep telling myself that we weren't on tour, 'cause a huge part of me wanted us to just keep going on to the next town and next show.
Soon, soon..............................

Toronto March 08 sesssion
Hey everyone,
Steve here. Just got home from a week long writing session in Toronto with Duncan and Jer. The three of us like to get together and pound out ideas in between our writing sessions with Raine.
The first few days were too cold. I got over it. Duncan came in with a cool psychedelic delayed-out guitar lick that we worked up, first with Duncan on guitar, Jer on bass, and me on drums. Then upon listening back to the recording Duncan made of it, decided it was best to switch back to our usual positions. Jer has a great video treatment for this idea so hopefully it will become an OLP song.
Since Raine was on tour, he happened to be in Toronto is the middle of our week so he came in and yea or nay-ed what we had been kicking around, which was great because it helped us to know what to work on more and what to dismiss.
It’s funny, we get together like this pretty often, yet every session is different. I think that is a good thing though, you gotta change it up otherwise you’re gonna end up with the same kind of stuff over and over.
This time Duncan and I fleshed out things more on acoustic guitars, where as a lot of other times I would play guitar and he would play drums to flesh things out before Jer came in. We didn’t plan it out or anything, just happened that way. Hopefully this different approach will yield some great songs once Raine gets his hands on them!
Anyway, we’re getting closer to giving you some new OLP music. The four of us are slated to write/record in California in April and I am really psyched about it.
I can’t tell you how much better of an experience making this record has been compared to the last one for me. Hopefully those good vibes will translate to you when you are listening to this new record.

to boot
Hey out here
Steve here.
Wanting to tell you about the week we had in California a while back.
IT was nice. Really good songs. Really good sounds. Raine's gotten pretty good at that. Serious drum sounds. Not too shabby guitar and bass to boot.
Duncan and I were singing together in the bathroom at one point. I played piano here and there. Duncan and I noticed the house ghosts much more this time. Things moving out of the corner of your eye....................
Can't wait for you all to hear this stuff.
One song cool as hell, don't know how to describe...Jer playing reggae-like fills, hypnotic guitar melody, lyrics about looking over your shoulder
Another one slow and stark with very minimal parts, very melodic. Getting the acoustic on this one took me a while....needed to be laid back and I'm a spazz..........
Another one where the main lick is on piano. Don't worry we're not going soft on you. Think Innocent kind of vibe but with massive piano. Then big fuzzy guitar comes in soloing all over the place.
Hope that you are all well.
Steve
p.s. If you watch TV ever check out Rules of Engagement and Carpoolers. Listen for guitar. If you hear any, it's yours truly. Hey, everyone needs to have some fun sometime. /

Attention those in the LA area! Steve playing w Gabriel Mann Sep 8
Hey there.
Steve here. Wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be playing with my friend Gabriel Mann at his CD release show on September 8, 2007, @ The Hotel Cafe at 9pm.
Please come out and see us!! (If you are in the greater Los Angeles area)
Gabe really has his own thing, and I think that he is a great artist. He doesn't sound like anyone else, has a unique voice, and has what so many people are missing these days....great songs!!!!!!
I played a lot of the guitars on his new CD which you should check out if you can't make it to the show. You can find out how to get a hold of it or listen to some stuff on his myspace page....just go to my page and he is one of my top friends.
Anyway, would love to see some of you at Gabe's show. Should be a bunch o fun. We're gonna play the entire CD at the show. Drinks are on Gabe!! (Well, sortakinda)

Toronto
It's nice to be in a place where you don't have to get in a car to do anything. Haven't seen the inside of one since the airport.
We are buzzing buzzing buzzing with ideas. Or maybe it's just the caffeine. Or alcohol. Either way, here pounding out some ideas. Duncan came in with a massive piano lick that we put down with big, When the Levee Breaks style drums. Gonna make Jeremy play on it today to give it the juice. Not inspired when I first got here. Then bought an amp head with no name on it at a music store. Made me happy and juices flowing again. Maybe it was because the amp isn't grounded and gives you a nice shock when you touch it. Electrocution is always a good one to get your juices pumping. Or the caffeine. or the alcohol. I don't know.
Hope you are all well.

what to say what to say wha tto sa ywhatt osa ywha tos ay
Hey there everyone. Steve here.
Long time no talk. Hope everyone is well.
What to say what to say what to say what to say.
OLP just finished a week of writing/recording up at casa de Maida here in LA a week or so ago. Very cool. Good stuff. Good times. Recorded the bed tracks for 3 new songs, very cool very cool very cool. One song with a Neil Young-y type of guitar riff. Great chorus. Another one very fast. Jeremy playing fills that sound like they could be in a fast Russian folk dance song with those dudes doing those crazy leg kicks. Then into a fast staccato verse. Then into a total broken down slow bridge with just Raine strumming acoustic and singing. It think that we may start the song like that also. Not sure how to describe the third song. Verse with circular guitar lick and trashy, almost Beck-like beat, pre-chorus broken down to just Raine and I, big chorus with big, soaring chords. The bridge takes you to another place. Want to go play it right now.
So anyway, we are definitely not laying dormant. True that we all have side projects happening but that is good.....just expands each of our creative horizons so that we have more to bring to the band and to...........YOU!
Hoping this finds everyone well, Steve
