From a friend's point of view:

Maybe it was the weekend trips to classical concerts with his mother, or lazy afternoons spent with his fathers old vinyl collection, or it could be the piano lessons before he could say his ABCs. Whatever the reasons, Ozans decision to pursue music as a career came as no surprise to his parents. Initially an economics major in college, he had decided to switch to the Jazz Bass Performance major at Bilgi University, one of the top music programs in Turkey. He recalls that at the time he would have never imagined himself as a DJ, for his main instrument has been the bass guitar since the age of 14. Yet to his listeners, it is clearly his diverse taste in music and uncompromising rock attitude that is behind his success as a DJ and a producer.

An Istanbul native, Ozan formed his first band with his buddies in high school to play cover songs, like many other teenagers were doing at the time. Except, his band took the first place in a competition among hundreds of high schools, foreshadowing the success of the band in the future. The band, later named Josephine, is one of the still most popular bands in Istanbul who has played in almost every venue imaginable. Apart from weekly club gigs in Kemanci and Mojo, they have also served as the house band for the ever-popular late night TV show Zaga. During those years Ozan gained the experience to play in any genre, usually on a short notice, and to back established artists in the Turkish music scene like Asli,Demir Demirkan,Burak Kut,Tarkan and Teoman among others. While he was rigorously being taught music theory at school, Ozan was just as interested in recording and music technology. It wasnt long after he had set up his home studio that the first production credits followed. He worked on soundtracks for short films, jingles, even a Top 40 pop/rock record for Sony Music Turkey, trying to find his own voice as a producer along the way. And naturally as he got more and more proficient in the studio, the computer and the mouse started taking over the instruments as the means of expression.

Ozan has always been a fan of New Wave and Synthpop, as you might expect from a generation that is actually old enough to remember the 80s. A regular in all the hip clubs, dance floor oriented music was his passion and even an undertone to his bass playing. Luckily he had a close circle friends who shared the same passion and so with his long time collaborator Ali Karabekir they picked up a set of turntables and formed the DJ duo Ali&Ozan. Their first shows were meant for friends only at the local pub, but it didn't take long for people to take notice. Only a year later in 2005, Ali&Ozan took second place at the Miller Master DJ competition, a nationwide event that attracts loads of new talent every year. A radio show at Radio FG 93.7 (Turkey's prime dance music station) followed, along with various gigs around Turkey, including spots in the biggest festivals like the Pepsi Electronica Festival Istanbul , Rock'n Coke 2006 and Global Gathering 2007. Istanbul in the meantime has started drawing in international DJs on a regular basis and Ali&Ozan got to share the same stage with such names like Adam Freeland, Etienne de Crécy,Hyper,Vitalic,Sebastian,Troy Pierce,Headman,Krafty Kutz,Stian Klo, Ozgur Can, and Petter. It was also the onset of a new era for Ozan as the producer. The underground support for his tracks led to his first record deal with Praesul Records (Norway), signing the floor stormer TopGun that seems to send crowds into frenzy everywhere its played, and also to appearances on compilations. Since then his productions and remixes have seen international support from a fast growing list of electro, house and techno DJs around the globe.

Apart from finishing off his new productions in the pipeline, Ozan is currently working on a live show that is going to incorporate live instruments with DJing on the computer..........................
